Cabrera didn't even look at that curveball (which was his first strike with a BB) and then smoked the fastball. I mean, like I said feel bad for this kid he threw 40 pitches and Colon was even getting around on him.
RE: if you don't see these guys sitting dead red I don't know what to tell

I do. Granderson struggled. I think once Wright hit that HR the kid got rattled and likewise our lineup saw blood in the water.
in the business yesterday in Bumgarner, we've been killing teams like this for weeks though. We did just score 12 runs in an inning a few days ago. I think the lineup is still relatively hot.
I now also expect at least 20 HR from Granderson, Walker, and Conforto. Cabrera and Wright will hit 15. Who knows with TDA but if he's healthy we all know he can hit 20.
want to leave Colon in, why use Familia with a 4-run lead? Unless he's had like 4 or so days off without any work, I'd rather not use Familia unless it's a close game.
Either way, nice first inning and solid outing against Colon. Would've liked to do more against the Braves after the first, but 9 out of 10 wins is hard to do. Nats are still on fire (and beating good teams now to boot) but Mets are hanging with em.
was great last night but I do find it funny he's mentioned as a "workhorse" and "innings eater" when he really isn't that. People make it sound like he's Livan Hernandez slogging through 220-230 innings per year. 100% a critique, just a weird label that has been placed on Colon. Maybe because he doesn't throw hard and is fat?

I think it's more because he's 43 and healthy enough for 200 mostly quality (especially for a #5 starter) innings.
I wonder how he compares with most #5 starters around the league.
and probably partly because he's fat and funny to watch.
like I said, I wasn't knocking Colon but back when Livan Hernandez was the gold standard for "slop" throwing innings eaters who were effective he would throw 220-230 innings. Colon has thrown 190 or more innings 3 times since 2005. I love Bart, I just find the label to be funny. 0% a knock on him.
what an awful contract. very lucky for Travis Shaw to come out of nowhere. I hate the Red Sox.
Money to burn and they spend it on Sandoval and no longer a SS and declining Hanley. Lucky for them their farm is/has produced some big time talent and they have unlimited money. No great teams in that division either.

And Price is off to a rocky start, but lucky for them it hasn't hurt, their offense is legit.
is pretty cool in that he has a big personality and is truly bilingual. The Mets haven't really had a bilingual star in a few years. Yeah they have guys who can speak English but none of the current Latin players are going to give an extended interview in fluent English.
If he ever reaches his physical potential, kid will be the biggest star NY has seen in a while, personality wise.
but he's an innings eater in the sense that while you dont expect him to win you ball games, you pay him to just eat up innings through the 5th, 6th, or 7th with competent, bullpen-saving pitching. As opposed to a more talented kid who you might need to bail out whenever he gets in trouble, burning 5 RP arms in the process. A better term might be "Reliable JAG" with leadership skills.

Your description seems more apt than "innings eater".

At the end of the season, Conforto will be the main reason people will have no qualms letting a bat like Ces go

Crazy.
Rubber arm. 99 pitches is nothing. He could have gone 115.
he also got hit for PEDs in his career.

Wonder if his contract is insured?
