Antrel wants to come back...

Asked if he would return to #Giants, Antrel Rolle says on @SiriusXMNFL: "New York is where my heart is."
Says he would be open to NYG return

Art Stapleton & #8207;@art_stapleton 12m12 minutes ago

On @SiriusXMNFL, Rolle makes it clear that he is looking to "play ball" first for his new team + refers to his leadership an "added bonus."

SiriusXM NFL Radio & #8207;@SiriusXMNFL 11m11 minutes ago

Antrel Rolle on possibly returning to NY: I would absolutely be open to that situation- It would definitely make sense for both sides.
I think Rolle
Sy'56 : 5/2/2016 10:26 am : link
will go to any team that actually wants him. I think he is at or near the end.
I don't think he showed anything last year
Ten Ton Hammer : 5/2/2016 10:27 am : link
that would counter the Giants' read on his ability.

If he wants to be back, it's not going to be for a lot of money.
No thanks
Jay on the Island : 5/2/2016 10:27 am : link
I appreciate everything he did for this team but he is little more than a name now and it is much wiser to go with the young kids than a broken down veteran.
He looked done his last season here
JonC : 5/2/2016 10:28 am : link
not to mention in Chicago, his performance isn't getting any younger.
No sign Slauson.
superspynyg : 5/2/2016 10:29 am : link
We need another starting oline. Not an aging saftey.
Why in the world would he say no
Doomster : 5/2/2016 10:30 am : link
when asked that question?

He is looking for that final contract, and would be open to any team offering him something.....

He is more a SS, than free safety....he doesn't have the speed to be a FS anymore........

Vet min....as a backup.....maybe....

Starter? No....

But I don't think he would sign for vet min.....
No
Toth029 : 5/2/2016 10:34 am : link
Thanks.
And he has never played in this system
jlukes : 5/2/2016 10:35 am : link
so it's not like he knows the playbook and could help the young guys
one chance
bc4life : 5/2/2016 10:37 am : link
if he comes in at vet minimum. it's a thin part of the roster, so, hopefully Collins and Thompson start. Rolle fights with others for one of last two spots. But, if you think he will take time from someone who will eventually start or contribute, it might not work.

potential added benefit - he might help out with the mysterious DRC issue(s).
mmm
BleedBlue : 5/2/2016 10:37 am : link
how about as a nickel LBer? use him to blitz on passing downs? I am not saying i def want him, i just feel is it really possible that he cannot be used for ANYTHING?!?

Move on
micky : 5/2/2016 10:41 am : link
Don't go backwards
'Trel needs to get serious here.
NorwoodWideRight : 5/2/2016 10:42 am : link
If he's willing to accept vet minimum, I see no reason why the Giants shouldn't welcome him back. He's a vet who can teach, he's motivated and a leader. Aside from that, if he's not willing to accept vet minimum, he should seriously consider hanging them up. Not likely a team is going to take a chance on him.
I think he will have to wait until after training camps
rasbutant : 5/2/2016 10:42 am : link
maybe even after the first game before he signs with anyone.

He doesn't need training camp added to his mileage, or to take playing time away from young guys. But just like a Brandon Merriweather type he could be signed later.

Especially after teams start suffering injuries.
Loved him as a Giant
SanFranNowNCGiantsFan : 5/2/2016 10:42 am : link
But time to move on from the past & let the next generation show what they got.
I want to remember the 2011 Antrel
Moondawg : 5/2/2016 10:51 am : link
not the 2016/17 Antrel
Hey, I'd be open to playing for the Giants, too.
CT Charlie : 5/2/2016 10:59 am : link
What else do we expect him to say?
Bring him back!!!
HoustonGiant : 5/2/2016 11:02 am : link
He has so much knowledge and he can teach our young safeties so much. He understands the game and had us in good position.
Vet

What makes you think he's a good teacher? Our secondary was constantly caught out of position during his reign as a "leader" on the team. Just because someone is a leader, doesn't mean he's a good leader.
He was injured last season
steve in ky : 5/2/2016 11:25 am : link
So I guess the question is whether he is healthy again or not.
be happy to have him back....in 5 years

At vet minimum
Giant John : 5/2/2016 11:33 am : link
I'd give him a shot. He would help the younger guys too.
I liked Rolle a lot,
prdave73 : 5/2/2016 11:41 am : link
But the Giants need to let these young players develop and grow plain and simple..
I agree with the comment above
greatgrandpa : 5/2/2016 11:50 am : link
sign Slauson if possible and make that trade with SF for the local kid for a conditional 4th if he plays X number of snaps (moves to a third next year) The team would be thrilled to have a young quality starting RT for a third round pick. Hart can then apprentice at Guard or tackle for a year or two and step in if injury happens. If Slausen can't be signed Hart goes to starting guard. Lets hope Rosenhaus has luck with that buyback issue and the Giants are talking to Baalke? The right side of the line suddenly becomes a strength replacing Jerry and Newhouse who are just not quality players in my opinion. As for Rolle, The Giants already have one in the box LB in the secondary (Collins). I don't see why they should have two. Neither can run and cover very well and we saw what happened last year when Collins had to cover in space (especially TEs). Not pretty.
As an

assistant coach/Quality Control/make up a title.
Even if it was just to work w/Collins on being the 'down-low' Safety.
I don't think he fits in Mcs big picture.
i actually like him in the old

R.W. McQuarters/Deon Grant role (at the end of his career). a guy who can "jump in" at most DB spots, plug and leak and keep the D intact. and as a heady vet he'll make a play when it comes to him

of course, these guys aren't worth much more than vet min. we'll see
At the end of the day...
trueblueinpw : 5/2/2016 12:22 pm : link
Its the end of the day for 'Trels career. Thanks, but, pass...

make the roster younger and more athletic you're missing something. Rolle has no value to us at this point.
Rather have the other guy
Thegratefulhead : 5/2/2016 12:57 pm : link
Chicago cut. RG Slauson played very well last year 6'5"320 good in the locker room.
His feet are a mess

Response to the OP.

Go Look at my recent thread about Rolle. Like I said he could possibly help the Giants win SB 51. Lets see what happens im waiting for him to sign before making another thread saying " I told you so" again.

Giants age average on the team is 25......Rolle is fine. Only two old guys are the kicker and Eli....Somewhat.

So again it wouldn't surprise me
.
HeavyLevy : 5/2/2016 2:51 pm : link
Also JR Has proven you can never have to many safeties.

Benett Jackson for Rolle? Come on...

Deon Grant was 32.....Give it a rest people saying he's old.

The difference being that Rolle hasn't shown anything in 2 years. He is done. He isn't going to get any better. That's why they let him go to Chicago, that's why Chicago cut him. Let it go. Some of you guys need to get over your obsession with names.
