at predicting who the Giants have on opening day.
Here's my opening salvo.
RBs (Assuming they keep 4)
1. Jennings
2. Darkwa
3. Perkins
4. Vereen
5. Flip a coin on Whitlock and Johnson. I'd give the edge to Johnson here, simply based on W's injury, and the fact they brought Johnson in.
(I think Rainey is camp fodder. Hard to tell about Williams. He's only 24, so how camp goes will be huge for him. Could he stick while Darkwa goes? Darkwa's done everything that's been asked of him, and he's had some good looks.)
WRs (Assuming they keep 6?)
1. OBJ
2. Cruz (fingers crossed for good health)
3. Shepard
4. Harris (STs)
5. Dable (I'm an optimist)
6. Maye (just a feeling - no height but could be another dynamic weapon - seems like a kid who will be balls out from the get-go - could be a ST warrior)
TEs (Assuming they keep 3?
1. Tye (showed well enough that he should be able to be the 1)
2. Adams (optimistic)
3. LaCosse (more optimism)
(Lang is intriguing. Basketball player? 6'9" 290 at the end of the line? Jesus H Christ. Should be interesting. I don't see Donnell sticking anymore. Just too much upside coming in the door.)
Fire away. I may have the numbers wrong. What's your list of weapons look like today?
FB = Pick one (probably Johnson)
WR - Bechman, Crus, Harris, Shepard, Davis, White
TE = Tye, Adams, Bryce Williams ;)
Can they go with just the one "horse" and a rookie? Vereen can carry the football, but I doubt they'd want him shouldering a ton of carries, even in a pinch, should Jennings get dinged (always a possibility).
Gotta go with 4?
Personally, I really like Tye and what he showed in the second half of the year. I really like the idea of a combination of him and Adams.
Johnson is an H-back and a bit of a hybrid between the two. Whitlock can play FB, DT and is good on specials. Those guys both have a ton of value.
2) R. Lewis WR - He had a lot of deep TDs. Could beat out White or Davis.
3) D. Powe WR - He's 6'3" 220 with 4.49 speed. We don't have anyone with that size, except Dable, so he's got a chance.
4) R. Mallech TE - Since he allowed 0 pressures (that's better than 0 sacks), he certainly has a chance to be our best blocking TE and has good speed (4.75) as well. Assuming Tye and Adams are safe, he could be the 3rd or 4th guy.
5) M. Rose DE - Size, speed prospect (6'2" 281 4.66) who gets after the QB, which is something the Giants didn't do much of last year, so he could very well catch on.
