anyone that makes it seem like the Giants got hoodwinked and missed out on their one target in the draft sounds like a fool.
Even if floyd was the pick they wanted, they clearly didn't feel like he was so great that he was worth trading up for. They have shown that when they target players they love, they go get that guy.
Jerry Reese on the current OL: "We have a couple veterans on the right side that people don't give enough credit. They're solid pros
it definitely reminds me of the safety situation last year. I don't think Jerry is terrible at his job but sometimes he has too much confidence in the fringe players he has.
Newhouse is a solid pro and solid depth. But he is not a starting caliber tackle. It's just that simple and I think Jerry has a difficult time seeing that.
John Jerry/Hart are passable at RG. But that Philly game is a perfect example because of Newhouse we didn't even stand a chance. Eli was under siege the entire game because of the lack of quality at RT.

No, it's not "Just that simple"
A RT was not available in FA or draft. They need one upgrade on right side- G or T.

Reece is delusional with that statement or he never watches the games! They both stink!
How hard is it to spell the guy's last name correctly? It's one fucking syllable, and he's been here for almost a decade. You should be able to figure that out by now. I'm sure Reese never watches any games. Clown.

Someone may shake loose.
Unless you are suggesting that everyone from this list would not have considered the Giants as a possible option as a RT. I don't believe you that a FT was not available in FA. There were plenty of tackles available in FA that would have been major upgrades over Newhouse.
Newhouse is depth. He was depth for the packers 3 years ago and he was depth for the bengals 2 years ago. And he was depth for the giants last year until Beatty was injured for the season.
So he should be depth again this year. I am not suggesting we might not fill the RT position eventually this offseason (maybe by a trade or a cut player). I am simply saying Newhouse cannot be your starting RT at the start of the season if you expect to have a solid right side of the offensive line. He is a 2nd string swing tackle that can sub in a little if there are injuries. That is it.

Is that right? Then why did he start for the Packers nearly every game at LT for 2 straight seasons?
But you got to live with the fact the Giants weren't going to take on risk at 10.
Some people are REALLY not ready to accept that.
If Ozzie Newsome passed on the guy, I don't know how anyone else can get raked over the coals for passing too. BTW, I definitely would've drafted Tunsil, but I've accepted the fact that they weren't going to.
there were lots of folks (even me) who wanted Reese to trade up to get Jack. Well, a 4th rounder probably would have been in that package, maybe even a 3rd considering teams had all the leverage. We took 2 possible starters with those picks, with no injury history.

it is right. He did start for the packers for two straight seasons. Then they benched him for his last year there and then the most telling sign is they let him go during FA.
Why let go of a young offensive lineman if you think he is a good? He signed a 1 year 800K deal with the bengals so it wasn't $$ that the Packers and Bengals got rid of him for.
This isn't a knock on Newhouse. He is a good swing backup tackle to have since he has experience at both positions. But he is not a starting caliber tackle in this league. I am not sure why this is so difficult to grasp.
Long, one of fasted players at combine.
"Plug and play" player

Plays bigger than 5'10.
Not just a slot guy. McAdoo thinks he is outside player, not just slot.
Can play all 3 positions. Hard hitter. Run stopper first, has some cover acumen.
Will make us faster and tougher on specials.
All of our picks are available to play STs.
very prodcive back.
"Ultra productive at big program"
I like that
Will continue to look for OL help.
Thanks for pitching in.
Shit got real this week for NYG
"They are solid pros, we will continue to look to improve everywhere"
Talking up Hart as G or T, expect him to compete
I'd be the same way. Lot of stupid out there (and in here)
JR has many words, very little meanings though.

Sounds like they are going to be active in signing released vets.

I guess you are too stupid to realize that what the say publicly and how they feel privately are two different things

Of course there are guys on that list better thank Newhouse. They signed elsewhere. Doesn't mean we didn't make an effort.
They dont HAVE to play for the Giants, you know?
Let's stop acting like a guy with baggage who is going to start at Guard for Miami was going to save this OL.
