lets just make this cut and dry and talk about book topics here. I'm interested in discussing stuff from the other thread but too many potential spoilers.
anyway after he finished reading the chapters, he opened the floor to some discussion about the plot of asoiaf, and some amazing genius girl said: you know my friends and i were debating this pretty heavily in the lobby just today, brienne screams “one word” as she is being hung by lady stoneheart’s men in a feast for crows - what was the word?
george turned the question on the audience and asked if anyone had figured it out - we shouted all kinds of dumb stuff, “jaime”, “sapphires”, etc. but some other genius in the second row said “sword”!
george confirmed that the word brienne screamed was “sword”; lady stoneheart gave brienne the choice of either swearing her sword to her or being hung, saying “sword or noose”, and as brienne was being hung she screamed “sword”
Why did it take a potential hanging to swear her sword to her? She swears he sword to anyone who will take it
It was more of a "Go kill Jaime" order than a "Be my sworn sword" kind of order.
As she was being hung, she also saw that Podrick was suffering the same fate and yelled out sword to save him
You think the Hound returns or is he just a ditch digger now? Will they even get into that in the show? Unless Clegane plays a major part in any events to come it's the type off fat that would get trimmed for a TV series.
I am completely convinced Clegane Bowl is goimg to happen. Why else even introduce this character?
It would be out of character for the books (or show, I suppose) but I would like him to come back. But, not to fight his brother. One flaw of the series, IMO, is that it suffers from too little redemption. I thought Jaime was going to go this way and he was going this way in the books but I am not sure with if the series will keep that. It doesn't appear as if it will. I would actually prefer it if the Hound appeared but was able to be a peaceable monk and do some good.
Why do you think it would be out of character to bring him back? i think it fits right in. And I think defeating his brother and in turn Cersei would certainly count as redemption.
Sorry. I do not think it would be out of character to bring him back Â
I meant that I think it would be out of character to redeem him from violence. I don't see him killing anyone as redemption. Acting on the side of good, although to some extent we have seen that in his charge of Arya, is nice but it's still a killing path. I meant embrace a peaceful life in some sort of Jesus redeem your soul sort of way.

Yeah, I don't think Martin is too interested in exploring. :)
RE: RE: RE: Would it mean that Tywin isn't actually the father then Â
? Unless they are lying about Tyrion's mother dying during his birth and it was really a different woman who gave birth to him.
The theory is that the Mad King slept with his mom.
Got it. If that's the case I wonder if Tywin knew or not.
Do you really think based on how much Tywin hated/was ashamed of Tyrion to begin with he'd have raised the son of a man who raped his wife - especially with the Lanister last name?
He would have sent him to the wall at a minimum or had him killed. just my opinion.
Regarding whether or not we need to get HYPE for Cleganebowl Â
You think the Hound returns or is he just a ditch digger now? Will they even get into that in the show? Unless Clegane plays a major part in any events to come it's the type off fat that would get trimmed for a TV series.
The writers have said the Hound is dead, but who knows if that means permanently or whatver.

Going back to the redemption angle, I think his death might be metaphorical. The old "Hound" is dead in favor of the tranquil grave digger.
the Umbers and Manderlys as allies, I think he may be in for a surprise
I think so as well. Roose may have been feared but I imagine he also would have had grudging respect. Nobody is going to see Ramsey as anything but a lunatic bastard. These Houses have long histories and likely some dignity,as much as any Northerner can be said to have dignity.

Good point. Could be their angle, but how the "hound" and "mountain" come face to face for the hounds redemption weaved into a 5 minute snippet like the show has for most plot lines might be tricky.
There was a line in the book where someone claims they buried him themselves, so maybe that's a lie.
with the remaining Lannisters being held up in Kings Landing. They are attacked and the Hound kills the Mountain and then goes up to red keep to slaughter Cersei. To kinda of "make up" for the atrocities of his brother vs Elia Martell. I don't think there is redemption for the Hound.
I always thought the series would climax... with the remaining Lannisters being held up in Kings Landing. They are attacked and the Hound kills the Mountain and then goes up to red keep to slaughter Cersei. To kinda of "make up" for the atrocities of his brother vs Elia Martell. I don't think there is redemption for the Hound.
The talk of splitting the last x-teen episodes into two seasons makes sense from that perspective:
Season Six: Bolton/Stark/Seaworth in the North; Lannister/Martell/Tully in the South; Dany and Arya in the East, with Euron conveniently showing up with a fleet.
Season Seven: The "Living" side of the draw gets sorted out; the most likely survivors being Dany, Jon, Tyrion, Varys, Davos, Arya and maybe some mix of Brienne/Jaime/Pod/Gendry/Tormund to stand against the Others in 2018.
Season Eight: Walker Bowl.
By the way, does anyone know who holds Dragonstone and Storms End at this point on the show? Without the Aegon/Griff plot line, there hasn't been much action out that way since Renly died and Stannis headed north after Blackwater. My guess is that Dany will head that way with an Ironborn fleet, a drunken dwarf, a wisecracking eunuch and a lot of seasick Dothraki. That way, there's no need for Connington and Co. But I'm not sure GRRM would let them write out Aegon without a fight. It sort of leaves Tyrion as the default "third head" of the dragon, which might be where Martin is going anyway.
You think the Hound returns or is he just a ditch digger now? Will they even get into that in the show? Unless Clegane plays a major part in any events to come it's the type off fat that would get trimmed for a TV series.

It's semantics based on some lines in the book by the character McShane is going to play. The Hound is dead, but Sandor the ninja monk lives.
...we should find out at the Kingsmoot which characters made the TV cut and which didn't. Combining Euron and Victarion is the sort of economy the show will need if they want to start wrapping up lot lines. Asha/Yara can pick up some of the slack, maybe even a hot girl-girl scene with the Dusky Woman before gangrene sets in.
To introduce Euron is they basically are telling you what is major purpose in both versions of the story is going to be. They write in Dany's fleet being burned in episode 1 and introduce Euron in episode 2. Random coincidence of course....

While I agree with you that it's a slightly lazy writing element, I personally find the Ironborn so deathly boring that I selfishly don't mind. I am dreading 20 minutes of screen time wasted on the KingsMoot.

they were also some of the worst POV's to read. Before beginning one of those sections in the books I'd look forward to see which POV was next.
I think their sole purpose is to get Dany to Westeros and then all turn on each other leaving Theon the only one left to rebuild their land and culture. Makes him an unwilling leader. Will mirror his story. Theon to Reek to Theon again. Iron Islands to nothing to Iron Islands again. And maybe they can find one of his rumored bastards out there too for an heir.
I really have thought this is basically it for the Iron Born. Why you need hundreds of pages for that, I don't know. I agree they are some pretty boring chapters.

I agree. I also feel the same way about the Danys POV and the Dorne POV's. For me, I think it's a combination of people I don't care about (Asha, Victarion, Hotah, Arianne), or actually despise (Danys) plus (or mostly) being off the mainland and away from places that do excite me (King's Landing, Winterfell, The Wall).
Dany is not going to bang any of them either. I don't know why George spends so much time trying to get me to believe Dany is going to have sex with any of these Greyjoys.
Oh, and also... Dany is not going to bang any of them either. I don't know why George spends so much time trying to get me to believe Dany is going to have sex with any of these Greyjoys.
Some fanboy diehards insist Daario is a Greyjoy incognito.
The Ironborn have two strategic assets: a fleet and a dragonhorn. Might not seem like much, since they are glaringly incapable of holding land, and proud of their inability to cultivate it. But in a war that spans a sea and involves dragons, those assets might prove essential. It's not as though the Ironborn are just there to provide ferry service for Dothraki and/or Unsullied.

Aren't they already tearing up the southern part of the continent? (Again I'm suffering from a foggy memory)
That's who Daario is. I don't believe it personally, but I have read the theories. And it does seem in fact possible. Someone outlined the whole thing and when Daario disappears for an extend time Euron comes into the picture. Then Euron disappears and Daario is back. So the timelines do seem to fit. But I don't believe it.

Yeah, they took over a series of islands in the Reach that let them control the waterways into Oldtown and IIRC correctly that was their next plan of attack. I'm similarly fuzzy in my memory of this so its possible they already lost control of the islands.
Is plausible, IMO. Euron is daring and meticulous enough to put in that much planning.
Daario = Benjen makes zero sense. It means that Benjen is a NW deserter.
Hasn't Benjen already been in the show, and Daario been in the show and they're not the same person unless I'm missing something.
Also I believe we just met Euron Sunday night, and he too is not Daario. he doesn't even look like Daario and it would be impossible to be searching for Danaerys with Jorah and simultaneously at the iron islands killing Balon.
That pretty much renders the theory moot, unless Martin actually gets around to finishing the books.
It might be a clever way to win Daenerys over. She has no interest in noblemen who want to dominate her or use her to win a throne. She's had enough of that crap with her brother pimping her out. So seducing her in the guise of an adoring, devoted soldier might be Euron's best shot. (She has a soft spot for that type: Jorah, Grey Worm and Barristan, whatever they may lack, have a special place in her heart.) Then, having won her trust as a humble servant and her bed as a prolific lover, announcing himself as a king in his own right and offering a fleet as a wedding present would be a nice bonus.
I just don't see any Euron or any of the Iron Born playing the GoT Â
We know from the House of the Undying she has a group of 3 husbands. There is one more husband, and this one appears to be based on love as compared to the other two that were based on something different. I doubt this final husband based on love is Daario. So I don't think Daario is of any importance at all other than to be a supporting character to move her current situation along. I think if this husband for love turned out to be Jon that'd be pretty lame and not something I would like. But, George wrote a lot of weird romantic short story crap in the 70s about male and female outcasts spread out across the word, miraculously finding each other. So, it wouldn't surprise me.
not to mention that it's a fantasy fiction, but if the rumors are true, Jon Danys is Jon's aunt. Not a big deal for Targaryons either. But, it is Jon Snow.
I'm pretty sure the book makes her really in love with Daario.
It's hard to tell how Daenerys feels about anyone or anything. Â
Well it's not likely to be Jorah, he's got grayscale and I don't think she likes him as much as some of you.
Clarke only has three or four facial expressions. The one she uses whenever Jorah turns up is the same misty-eyed look she gives the charred remains of Drogon's latest human victim: "Oh, that naughty boy... but he means well." Or maybe it's just gas.

LOL, she probably wasn't hired for her acting chops, and then of course she refuses to do nude scenes.
anyway, I think she still is a little bit pissed about him selling her out.

I gotta be honest, I completely forgot about that one. There's a lot to keep track of. Westerte.org is great but it's been awhile since I've checked it out. Clegane Bowl would be awesome, also makes you wonder how the trial by combat comes to pass, basically how Cersei would be in the posession of the Faith Militant.
Well, we know there's a golden shroud waiting for Tommen at some point, but it seems a bit early. Who's Tommen's heir at this point, given that House Baratheon still technically sits the Iron Throne ? Robert and Joffrey? Dead. Renly? Dead. Stannis? Dead (Assuming Roose's confirmation of having found his remains wasn't a red herring). Even Myrcella and Shireen are dead. Can Gendry still be legitimized somehow? With nobody to succeed him, I think Tommen hangs around a while.
I'm not even sure who the heir to Casterly Rock would be, after Uncle Kevan. It seems that Jaime, Tyrion, and Lancel, though breathing, have all taken themselves out of the running in various ways. Kevan is still alive on TV, but it's only a matter of time.
Oh, and also... Dany is not going to bang any of them either. I don't know why George spends so much time trying to get me to believe Dany is going to have sex with any of these Greyjoys.

I remember that. Apparently that "theory" has existed for a while but, it came back to the diehards when TV show Daario told Dany he had a fleet of 92 ships, which is the same number of vessels Euron Greyjoy has under his command.
Then it spiraled into Euron Greyjoy was a student of the Three-Eyed Crow, to Euron is secretly the Dusky Woman that Euron gave Victarion for pleasure purposes on his long trip to Essos.
You think the Hound returns or is he just a ditch digger now? Will they even get into that in the show? Unless Clegane plays a major part in any events to come it's the type off fat that would get trimmed for a TV series.
In the books, I was really convinced that Sandor Clegane is done, on account of that pronounced limp that grave digger was displaying. The only thing that made me Get Hype was that the Elder Brother has healing powers beyond those of the Maesters, and that the healing of Sandor Clegane, physically, was not done yet. He still had those bodies to bury to heal his soul.
On the show, it was Ian McShane's revelations that make me believe it's happening.
There doesn't seem to be much doubt than The Hound has risen. Â
On the show, it was Ian McShane's revelations that make me believe it's happening.
Well, yeah... That and Rory McCann showing up on location. Just hoisting a few pints with his old mates? Sure.
Similarly, reports from the "little birds" watching HBO's operations suggest that the big set-piece battle this season will be in the North, with Brienne playing a central role. That figures to be Bastard Bowl, but it doesn't rule out Clegane Bowl happening this season. The Bitches of Sunspear figure to make some noise in Westeros too.
Not sure when the Harpy (Green Grace or whoever) and Sons will get smoked. It's a basic dramaturgical rule that you don't unchain a dragon unless you plan to use it.

Neither are plausible to me. Just a fun tinfoil theory.
Now Varys being a merling, that's locked up in my mind.

I'd say maybe Griff/Aegon since I think Targaryan's historically married each other, but he's not in the show as far as I know.
Maybe Gendry? He's still alive right? He'd unite the Baratheon's and Targaryan's even as a unacknowledged bastard.
it could also be someone like Bran or Rickon, but I don't see how there's time in 21 episodes for them to meet, and marry.
Or the obvious Jon Snow.
with no Victarion in the show I don't see any iron born, unless they have Euron and Victarion melded into one.
I'm pretty sure the book makes her really in love with Daario.
Clarke only has three or four facial expressions. The one she uses whenever Jorah turns up is the same misty-eyed look she gives the charred remains of Drogon's latest human victim: "Oh, that naughty boy... but he means well." Or maybe it's just gas.

Well it's not likely to be Jorah, he's got grayscale and I don't think she likes him as much as some of you.

LOL, she probably wasn't hired for her acting chops, and then of course she refuses to do nude scenes.
anyway, I think she still is a little bit pissed about him selling her out.

I gotta be honest, I completely forgot about that one. There's a lot to keep track of. Westerte.org is great but it's been awhile since I've checked it out. Clegane Bowl would be awesome, also makes you wonder how the trial by combat comes to pass, basically how Cersei would be in the posession of the Faith Militant.

Some fanboy diehards insist Daario is a Greyjoy incognito.

In the next episode is Faux Arya? Perhaps ramsey marries her? Not sure how he gets out of the Sansa marriage though.
I'm guessing that it's Rickon
Think you may be correct:
