What are our biggest ?'s now

Osi Osi Osi OyOyOy : 5/3/2016 10:22 am
1. Offensive Line -- Right Side specifically but Flowers too
2. Inexperience in the Back 7 (outside starting corners)
3. A lot of mediocrity at the RB position
4. 1st year rookie HC

After revamping the DL completely to turn it from our weakest unit in 2015 to arguably our strongest unit in 2016, I don't see too many major major issues with this team.

The right-side of the OL has been beaten to death, but what other holes on this team could keep us from competing for a playoff spot or more?

is better suited to play just a few snaps. he flashed 2 years ago and again early last year but think he got worn down. Not a starter by any means but if he get up for a few snaps he can be effective as a 4th de.

The Season in JPP's first game back with his club. This season Jpp without the club Vernon, Hankins and Snacks . I would think we will definetly see a big improvement to our pass rush .
Strength & Conditioning

I'm with Klaatu (although I'm not clear what "deep kimchi" is all about).

To me, the key to this season, and the big unknown, is the impact of the new strength and conditioning program on the Giants injury problem. And the Giants have had a huge injury problem, indicating a systemic problem, in my opinion.

I don't think Coughlin was up-to-speed regarding the science, and I think he had his head in the sand in regards to a clear problem with the Giants in regards to injuries. Will the new regime have an impact? I think it will, but perhaps that is wishful thinking only.
This one is quite easy....

it's Victor Cruz and the WRs.

We have 1 stud and a helluva lot of question marks. Cruz has been off for 2 years. Shephard is a rookie, Davis is raw and unknown, Harris is a special teams guy. Our TEs also have a lot of question marks.

If Cruz turns out to be average at best, and the rest of the corps struggles - it will be another long year. Our offense has to be a lot better than it was last year. Yeah, yeah we had a top 10 offense last year by stats - but we had far too many games where the offense was a no show or didnt put the game away when it could have.
RE: I think the biggest question now, as always, is health.

If guys like Odighizuwa and Kennard can't stay healthy, we're going to be in deep kimchi.

Don't say it ! shhh..
Can we have effective run blocking?

The new HC concern is a given.
IMHO, they made moves to fix the D, for now and the near future. The front 4 is better, the secondary is better, and the LBs will at least be faster; the D as a group as well. I expect next year they finally draft LB high, sign an good FA, and likely both.
They got Shepard to take pressure off OBJ, year 2 w/Harris now, signed a bunch of UDFA WRs hoping 1 or 2 can be better than White(or White steps up, and anything good out of VC is a bonus. They have a nice, though not spectacular RB group that now has a varying skillset for situational play without tipping the hand on the play by focusing on the RB player.
The team is younger; the team overall looks to be faster; they seem to have better depth at all positions, though I too would like a better right side OL.
Just have to bring it all together quickly.
All concerns for now, yes,

but we'll have answers to all of these concerns after Training Camp. Personally, I'm very optimistic after all the new additions. Looking forward to seeing all the new players contribute during pre-season.

I'd like another veteran WR that plays outside. Cruz won't necessarily be the same, neither is the rookie.

major personnel hole to fill is RT, which is remarkable considering what we entered the offseason with.

Weekness at DE.

If we examine the flexibility of the personel on the Oline , we have people that can move from G to OT and back. Few if any teams have all pro players in Oline slots. The Gmen can make do by playing up tempo and building schemes abound the talent available. My major concern is DE. We have a numbers issue. Not enough DE`s. Some of the undrafted pickups may have potential and someone may become available before June 1st. Guys like Kennard and Brinkley can step up to form a Nascar package. Time will tell but the problem may not be as drastic as we feel it is. The DB situation , as always will depend on health. We can`t have 4 or 5 guys go down and win.. I feel more confident with WcAdoo at the helm than TC. He is young and innovated, and not afraid to start rookies.
I think we have three ssues now in my opinion
PatersonPlank : 5/3/2016 5:13 pm : link
1) Right Tackle - obvious
2) Spags - we can speculate/make excuses all we want, but the fact is he hasn't put a good team on the field in about 7 years
3) Youth in the secondary - lots of talent, but Apple, Collins, whoever plays FS are all inexperienced and need to get up to speed fast.
Yes, clearly the right side of the O-line and injuries

Really need to see the following players be ready to go Game 1 with no constraints/effects from prior year issues:

- Cruz
- Donnell
- JPP
- OO
- Hankins
- Kennard
- All Free Safeties

A tall perimeter established WR

Get one and I can live with everything else on this current team and expect a divisional championship.
Who plays opposite Beckham if Cruz

goes down or is not the same player?

I don't want to think about what happens if Eli Manning goes down.
