pitching our last game of the WS for 8 shutout innings just last November.
There has to be an explanation. Either he's not in game shape yet, which really seems ridiculous this late in the season, he's hurt... I just don't get it.
He looked good in Spring Training. One has to wonder if he had something other than just a bladder infection. How do you go from having arguably the best stuff in baseball to a guy that would probably be sent to AAA if he was a prospect with options. Teams are hitting over .400 against him with RISP. And he's really only faced one good lineup
Plawecki is an automatic out, I think he batted about .217 last year and he may well bat below 200 this year. He cannot hit major league pitching..
Awful. Dan and I both said it. He should have started in AAA. He was rushed through there last year and never even conquered Vegas. Defensively, his throws have been pretty bad the last few days anyway. Get well soon TDA.

I don't know. Others disagree. I am hanging my hat on his last outing against the Reds. His velocity was back to 2015 levels, his Ks were up, and his walks were down. That doesn't excuse how bad he's been so far though. Every other start has been pretty bad.
At one point last year Wisler was the Braves #1 prospect. That was before the draft and before several trades but he isn't some nobody if that makes you feel better. Wisler has the potential to be a great #3 pitcher. He has been very inconsistent prior to his last two starts.

I know he's pretty good Jay. He gave us fits last time too. Im mainly just fucking around.
has lost control of his pitches. He hasn't close to the command he's had previously. Pitches are all over the place, in the dirt way high. His pitches aren't missing by a little.
4/22 vs Atl he only walked 1 but it took him 101 pitches to get thru 5.0 innings.
4/27 vs Cin he only walked 1 but it took him 102 pitches to get thru 6.0 innings.
Tonight he only walked 2 but it took him 101 pitches to get thru 5.2 innings.
By comparison, last night against this same team Colon went 8.0 innings, walked 0 and threw just 99 pitches.
ok it was hard to tell. Wisler has been a frustrating performer thus far but he is only 23. He has games like today and then he will follow it up with a 5 inning 4 ER game next time.

My 2 cents.
While I agree with you Colon is a pitch to contact type of guy. A lot of our strikeout pitchers will have high counts in the 6th simply BECAUSE they are striking guys out. I wouldn't compare this start to the Cincinnati one at all either. Its night and day for me. He was awful tonight. Im praying its because he's sick as shit because tonight was embarrassing. Worst game yet IMO.

Looks like he has good stuff to me. Was hitting 95. Getting a lot of groundouts on that sinker. He's clearly tough when its all working.
Fredi Gonzalez will probably bring in one of his shitty relievers like O'Flaherty or Jim Johnson rather than Vizcaino who is a great young reliever who is underused for god knows why.

He has the stuff but it's all a matter of consistency with him.
the series tomorrow afternoon and all is good. I like that Matz is pitching with the very hot Freeman suddenly. Hopefully it helps neutralize that a little.

It's freakin May 3. Why is someone who is "sick as shit" pitching? Not asking you, Z, just mumbling.
Because it's likely bullshit. If you are well enough to pitch, then I don't want to hear about it. If you are truly that sick, then he wouldn't be pitching, period.
But if you are sick enough to need an IV before a game, then he probably shouldn't be pitching anyway. Especially this early in the season. All this stuff with Harvey is just odd. Wouldn't surprise me if something else was going on. But what do I know anyway, lol.

Not disagreeing at all either. It is odd and its getting a bit annoying.
But this is from a real pitching coach who has ties to the Mets organization....
"Glad I don't have you as my coach, or someone I would rely upon as being a talent evaluator. Shiznet happens and these things do happen. Pitching is about confidence, as is just about everything in baseball, and he is lacking that element. My sincere suggestion to Matt...stop the routine and just take a few days off. It's not going to hurt anything that he is doing or wants to do...just shut it down for 3 days."
You could tell Harvey was just mentally out of sorts towards the end of his outing especially. He was spiking throws, throwing out of frustration and missing spots.. something's just bugging the guy and no one seems to have any idea what it is. Hopefully someone gets to the bottom of it because we need him to pitch like himself again if we want this season to end the way we're all hoping.
This is basically Wild Thing's story arc from Major League 2
the Mets could survive a 2 week Harvey DL stint and put Verrett in the rotation.
This was an old Larry Lucchino Red Sox trick, he'd systematically place all his starting pitchers on the DL (except Wakefield) at various times during the season to keep them somewhat fresh.
There has to be an explanation. Either he's not in game shape yet, which really seems ridiculous this late in the season, he's hurt... I just don't get it.
Hey did you ever work as a bartender in Casselberry, FL?

Plawecki is SOOOO bad offensively. Holy shit.

Nats up 5-3

I might need to wash my mouth out after saying that. lol

Of course they are. Bastards are red hot.

#Phillies beat #STLCards 1-0. Lead the majors with 6 shutouts. The young starters are legit.
now the Nats know how it feels to lose to those pesky Boils
You forgot the most important item. His glasses!
