How great would it be to find a legit backup for Eli's final few years without spending a fourth-round pick? It's a long shot, but the Giants wanted Woodrum badly enough to drop a quarter of their UDFA cash quota on him.
Best case scenario: practice squad this year, then four years of service at minimal cost? Hey, we can dream.

I think they guaranteed $20K of his base salary, not signing bonus though I could be mistaken. By guaranteeing part of the base salary it could be put towards his practice squad salary and not use their quota of UDFA signing bonus. Little loophole.

Ah, yes... the Michael Bamiro Clause. I didn't realize the guarantee could be satisfied with Practice Squad pay; I thought it immediately became dead money as soon as he's waived.
Of course he would have to clear waivers to reach the practice squad. Suppose he clears and gets PS offers from multiple teams - is he obligated to take the Giants' offer because of the guarantee? Can he go elsewhere, but only if he forfeits the guarantee?
Not that anyone cares about $20K. It's just an interesting clue about the Giants' intentions for Woodrum.

I think the $20K has offset language so he could either take as part of the PS squad, effectively an off-set or if he went to another team, offset as well. Thats the way I understood it.
BTW- I'm still holding out hope for Bamiro to be our Right Tackle. (joke)
sticks is on the PS. It doesn't make sense to use the roster spot on a 3rd QB with Nassib on the roster entering his final season before free agency.
and after that, assuming he makes it through the year on the PS, they showed a graphic during the draft, something like 90% of QB's with 10 starts or more (in their careers) came from rounds 1 and 2, 95% rounds 1 - 4 and then there is Brady and Romo. Something like that.
It's a literal long-shot he see an NFL field in a real game.
I think the only way Woodrum sticks is on the PS. It doesn't make sense to use the roster spot on a 3rd QB with Nassib on the roster entering his final season before free agency.
Right on all counts. Not only would Woodrum waste a roster spot, but carrying him on the 53 wastes a year of cap-control. Practice Squad or back home to Roanoke for the Piggly Wiggly training program.
Clearly, when the time comes to replace Eli, it's going to cost a lot more than $20K. Sure would be nice to replace Nassib on the cheap in 2017 though.
Giantology: Infer was correct, if I understand your intended meaning. Â
Check out video of him being interviewed. He might not play like Eli, but he has the whole "Aw, shucks, my teammates deserve all the credit" thing down like a tenth-year pro. Josh Woodrum after his final college game. - ( New Window )
implied that Kinne was "moving on" from the Giants, which is an easy interpretation to make based on his tweet.
I did not imply that he was cut or released by the Giants since the reason for Kinne giving his "thank you for everything tweet" to the Giants was not disclosed.
RE: I think what’s lost in this tweet or no tweet battle Â
but infer is closer. The guy said based on the tweet that twitter should be banned. That is a conclusion. He may have inferred that from the tweet. Perhaps. I don't see it as inference.
However, he didn't imply anything. He said it straight out. That tweet is an example of why twitter should be banned.
Thank you. Please close the lights when you're done.

Infer is the right word, but yeah the question asked was stupid, because it assumed a misreading of the original comment. So, the whole thing was off-kilter. The OC was a joke about the fact that if Twitter is only useful for letting GJ Kinne give some president primary bow-out speech after he never played a snap, who gives a shit?
It wasn't a serious comment. Glad we all could try to dissect the correct usage of imply versus infer though. We can now graduate 9th grade.
Never thought he was a legit NFL starter talent but he has gotten zero shot to show anything helpful. Question is does he even get a sniff once he does hot FA. And what will he want as a back up? Smart move to stash a QB on the PS this year

Nassib screwed? Not really. People will work him out and see what's there...
Nassib could turn some heads in pre-season.
Maybe we can get a conditional pick ?
With no chance to go through camp and pre-season with a new team? At that point, he'll probably be worth more to the Giants than to anyone else, unless a QB injury really puts another team in deep trouble.
Nassib most likely backs up Manning for another year and then tests the FA market in 2017. If he gets a good offer, maybe it translates into a 2018 comp pick for the Giants (assuming they aren't big UFA spenders next year). If the market for Nassib is weak, he might still re-sign here.
Best case scenario: practice squad this year, then four years of service at minimal cost? Hey, we can dream.
How exactly from this tweet/thread does one infer that Twitter should be outlawed?

Not sure, but he is listed on Giants.com as a QB.

Imply.

Either way, that makes no sense to me. What's so bad about this tweet? Why should twitter be outlawed? Reeks of "get off my lawn!"
Who knew?
And Why???
