I'm coming to NYC in August. My wife and I are going to see Hamilton. We're staying on 55th near 5th Avenue, so we would like a place for a relatively early dinner (show is at 8:00) somewhere between there and Times Square.
We're both up for any cuisine, but I'd like to keep it in the "reasonable" range. Suggestions?

I'm not familiar with Manhattan prices, but assuming they are similar to DC, I would define $25-$30 entrees as "reasonable".
It is literally ADJACENT to the Richard Rodgers Theatre. 15 second walk from door to door. In fact, the owner (who was also our waiter) told us to avoid the long lines and come back to his restaurant and use his restroom and have a cocktail during the intermission and we did so easily within the time allotted (drank fast though!).
I could not recommend it more given its proximity to Hamilton, the value, the friendliness, and the good food. It is not "Haute Cuisine" so do not expect a Michelin 3* experience...this is just really good, authentic food at a very reasonable price and right next door to the theatre.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Rudys?
$5 for a pint, a shot of Jamison, and a ball park frank. Cannot beat it.
Other dive joint we loved was Jimmy's Corner. My wife had the "Jimmy's Famous Hurricane" and I had a pint. I think it was $8...LOL...two great places and both very a short walk from Richard Rodgers Theatre.
Personally, I like a bit of a walk before curtain, especially if it's a nice evening. And once you're out of the heart of the Theater District/Restaurant Row, your early-evening business is much more appreciated.
