I was reading that thread today about the FA running back Coprich we signed and noticed a lot of Jennings bashing. I just don't get it...
Last we saw him he was running up and down the field against the Eagles for 170 yards. In fact in the last three games when Coughlin finally decided to stop splitting carries between 3 guys, he averaged almost 6 yards a carry and over 100 yards per game.
Yeah I know he turned 31 in March but age isn't the relevant stat - it's how much tread he has on tires (i.e., attempts). There are actually 30 active RBs in the NFL with more carries than Jennings (for example Mark Ingram, 26, has the same number of career carries).
Nothing was more infuriating last year than Jennings having a good series or two and then Coughlin pulling him off the field for Andre Williams.
He runs, catches and blocks well and he's a good guy in the locker room.
He'll be the perfect mentor for Paul Perkins, who should keep a close eye on #23 to see what it takes to be the consummate pro running back.
Leave my man alone already!
The RB rotation was a disaster last year. The carousel made no sense. One guy (usually Jennings) would have a strong series and then get plastered on the sideline for the next 2 and not see the field for an entire quarter. Hopefully a lesson was learned there.
Let him be the lead back and he'll do what we need.
Stir up your memories guys.
No one complained when we had running back by committee name thunder , lightening and rain ...or something like that with Jacobs, bradshaw and Ware.
Comparing a cheap FA pick up to the fourth pick in the draft is just dopey. I don't know how you compare ball players but if you think in relative terms, I think I'd rather have Jennings and the no. 4 pick in the draft than Zeke.

Earth, wind and fire was was jacobs/bradshaw/ward (Idk if those were their respective nickanmes, but that group). "thunder and lighting" was tiki + dayne (lol 'thunder').
Also, I think the 08 group was much better talent wise, and then boosted by a great line. I also think the current Giants are close to putting that line together. I believe we would have taken Conklin if available, but now that we didn't, I realize that it's better to wait until we find a guy we like long term for the right side that the team likes for 3-4 years before rushing to sign/trade the first viable person (Davis, Slauson), because we are a couple of savvy moves away having an above average talented line develop 3-4 years together to become a unit greater than the sum of their parts...and by extension a few years from potentially having the best line in the league 08 style in a couple years. (no mcnally though so who knows)
They've invested in this unit and I'm excited for them to finish it, and I think that they may just get it to be near dominant right as we enter the last 1-3 seasons of Eli, giving him (and more importantly, us) a chance at that 3rd ring of the Eli era.

against the Eagles came when both teams seasons were over. Giants still lost too.
Bradshaw did his part. Being critical of that effort seems stupid to me
Good effort no doubt, I just would not get too excited over how he ended last season.
I hope he is a top back this year. In my opinion watching as a fan, his time with the team has been nothing to write home about. Hopefully the o line and team overall improves which could help him raise his game.
Average at best so far.
"The Bell Cow" has been slaughtered... it's not necessarily a benefit.
We have John Jerry today
played like he did we may have won a few more games.
His running style tends to lead him to injuries
at 30 he's on the downside of his career .
