NFT: Shooting at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, MD

Boy Cord : 5/6/2016 12:12 pm
Looks like three people shot. I just spoke with my dad. He has heard reports of another shooting at an outdoor strip mall in Aspen Hill, MD less than 10 miles away. However, nothing confirmed on the latter.

I just heard the police press conference...

Two men were arguing in the parking garage at Mont Mall and the one guy shot the other. Two people ran to his aid and he shot them and fled. They say the two men knew each other and nobody else is in danger, neither in the mall or abroad.

As far as Aspen hill the latest I heard was there is no confirmation of an actual shooting.

Thanks, Bradshaw.

... (near Olney Manor Park) and my mom currently lives in Leisure World. Been to Montgomery Mall and that Aspen Hill Shopping Center hundreds, if not thousands, of times. One of the first sniper shootings from Muhammed and Malvo was in that area (Leisure World - Giant shopping center). Prayers to all impacted.

Same. In-laws live in Aspen Hill. FIL was out walking near the area when those shootings happened. The Aspen Hill shopping center is generally pretty crappy but the Chinese restaurant there is pretty good.
Leisure World..

... in the parking lot of High Point HS. A Federal officer shot and killed his wife. There is speculation that he was involved in at least one of today's shootings. One report stated he is armed and looking to commit suicide by cop.

A/K/A lockdown, for most of this morning/this afternoon. They just pulled this status, and things are back to normal with dismissal plans resumed as scheduled.

I'd heard reports they're looking for the suspect who is driving a grey/silver Hyundai Elantra with Pennsylvania tags.

FMiC - Since it's a retirement community, Yesterdayland would be more appropriate than Tomorrowland. It was also called "Geezer World" back in the day.

hah - makes me think of Leisureville in Boynton Beach

IIRC (tony can correct me) they have on of those big futuristic (NYC World's Fair) globe statues in the entrance.

Yes they do. The globe is now on the side of the road (Georgia Ave) and in the middle of a floral bed. Many, many (many) years ago the globe was actually the centerpiece of a water fountain display. There were several times (and I swear I had nothing to do with it) when kids would dump a box of laundry detergent into the fountain and soap bubbles would be several inches deep over the entire width of Georgia Ave, which was just one lane in each direction back then. After a couple instances of that the water display was shut down.

I was just back there 2 weekends ago visiting my mom. Every time I go back I am amazed at how different everything looks.
