Cappy: There are a lot of really great teams and a lot of really good leaders, and supporting casts in this league. But Ive said it before: I dont think theres one player that means more to his team than 91 means to the Islanders. Hes been a great leader for us. Its been a joy just watching him mature, year in, year out, and become the leader that he is. JT (on the series and heading into tonight's matchup): I think you just always want to raise your game, at any point in this time of year, whether youre up or down. The next game is always the most important. Just try to focus on whats bringing you success, and where you can be better, and just raising your game to another level. Thats not just me, I think thats everybody in the room. Were trying to feed off one another. (On the Game 3 loss): For sure you think about it a little bit, especially right after the game, but youve got to move on and think about tomorrow. Thats where everyones focus is. Everyone knows its done with, it happened, take the things we did well and correct the things we could do better. (On Game 4): Im confident in our group. Weve had our backs up against the wall many times over the last few years, especially this year, so we know its an important one. We put the last one behind us, time to move forward and well be ready to play. |

Thomas Hickey isnt surprised at his captains taking the blame. He relayed a moment from January 2015 after a 6-3 win over the Penguins to illustrate. He was credited for an assist and he comes to me the next day and says, I didnt touch that puck; thats your assist. Im going to get it changed to you, Hickey said. He ends up losing the scoring title by one point, right? He doesnt care about himself. Its about the team, and its little things like that that stand out. The one word that sticks out to me is authentic . . . This is the person he is and the way he leads. He doesnt try to be someone hes not. |
This is a must win and a very big night for the organization. Let's even this thing up.
I request solid updates as I will be checking in. I need to know.

This is a must game I sure hope we play like it is. We need to get this tonight. Let's go Islanders!

Me and your little guy share a birthday! Happy birthday to your son, man!
Need to go back 2-2.

Islanders: only team that has won multiple games this postseason when trailing after the 1st period

It's like they have no set plays. Just pass it back and forth.
Pulock needs to be out on PP1. This kid is something.
On the PP, TB is pursuing aggressively as FLA did. Need the passes to be crisp. But eliminate the tertiary and addt'l passes...one-two, shoot. Then reload by attacking the net and sweep the rebounds toward the point. Can't be tentative out there.
Overall, a very good period, but would have liked to widen a very narrow gap. And you know the refs will be looking to even up the penalty count at their first opportunity.
CDH almost with a shorty.
