Made due without the three headed monster, three excellent starts in a row for Yankee pitching. Need to see more of this from the bats. Teix is a problem who may need a solution at some point.
Teixeira, I feel, is a big problem that has been ignored by the team and many fans alike for a few years now. Last year he had a minor renaissance, but that was just for HRs. His average was mediocre and has been terrible this year and the few years prior to last. He became a pull happy, HR or nothing player here and can't stay healthy. But, people here much preferred to rag on A-rod, focus on Headley, Beltran, etc. Teixeira is quietly having a worse season than Headley (who is actually starting to hit) and nobody says a word. He is a terrible bat that does not belong in the middle of a Major League lineup any longer.

Teix has some defensive value and will take a walk, but at this point unless the power comes back he is a well-below average major league hitter, period, at a position that is supposed to be driven by offense. Right now his three outcomes are pop out, strike out and ground out feebly into the shift.

His defense isn't even stellar anymore. He is a good defensive 1B, but not to the exceptional level where it could be used as a defense of his playing regularly and in the middle of the lineup.
Defense saves runs IMHO. However, he should be batting in the lower end of the lineup. I read somewhere that his ground outs and fly outs are similar to last year. His strikeouts though has increased. Corner positions are run producing power hitters. Unfortunately Joe is going to put him in the lineup, and honestly who are you going to replace him with? Ackley? Who isn't much better offensively and a lot worse defensively.
His defense doesn't save runs anymore. He makes the plays a 1B is supposed to make. He doesn't make most of the really difficult plays he used to that would save a run here or there. He certainly isn't saving enough runs to make up for the countless runners he's left on base or his paltry sub-.200 BA.
less stellar this year than in years past. But what are the alternatives? It would be a different story if Bird were in AAA and healthy. But he isn't. Instead we have two of the worst corner infielders in the game at present.
but he doesn't need to bat 4th or 5th any longer. And, no it hasn't always been a lineup based on salary. Reggie and Winfield sat at times. When they had guys like Barfield, Sierra, Tartabull, and Fielder and they stopped producing they were traded. Even the beloved Mattingly was moved to the bottom half of the lineup his last couple of years. Boggs was benched and moved down. And on and on.
I agree. But, he could at least be batting 7th or 8th. Maybe Headley should play 1B (at least he is starting to hit a bit) and Torreyes play more at 3B for a stretch until Headley goes back in the shitter.
There still gonna play him bat him 7th or 8th like you Guys said. Does Joe have the guts to do it. On a side note, he mentioned in the spring that he wanted to play 4 more years after this season. I wonder if he still feels that way. Good luck trying to get a team to sign him. He will have to take a huge decrease in pay. Of course the season is only 2 months old and maybe he can get his sh@t together.

I don't think he is delusional enough to think he will get a 4 year deal or anywhdre near his current salary. But, i can see him getting a couple of ocfers that are eiher heavily incentive laden or have a club option after 1 year.

The Yankee pinstripes are better but the classic Oakland uniform is pretty good
We saw. Last night was their 3rd win in a row.
