offense.
Mike Conley [28] Achilles injury
Rajon Rondo [30] Defense?
Jeremy Lin [27] Played well against the Knicks
Brandon Jennings [26] Achilles injury
Tyler Johnson [24] Restricted
Matthew Dellavedova [25] Restricted
Mario Chalmers [30] Achilles injury
Anyone else?
What order would you put them in?
Who is the best fit?
Who listed can hit a jump shot fairly consistently, along with the knack to drive to the basket and dish off?
Who here has the uncanny abilities to not only see the open man but to get him the ball at the right spot and time?
Who listed has the skill set to not only run an uptempo offense, but also a slow set offense when called for?
Do you see Jeremy Lin as a good option, considering ability and cost?
.
I like Tyler Johnson a lot but he's restricted and he's not so much a PG, more like an undersized 2.
We have a chance to be Philly if we unload Melo, but I'd prefer a rebuild to ongoing mediocrity.

Stop with the trading Melo BS. You can't trade him because he doesn't want to be traded. What's up with moving the goalpost? This is Phil Jackson summer to bring in FAs as he stated back when he was hired. This is year 3 of his rebuild. He spent assets to acquire Grant in the draft last year to be PG of the future.
Is he a good fit?
Reports: Phil Jackson will allow Jeff Hornacek to break from triangle offense
As for a 3 year rebuild, c'mon. You don't fix crap like this in 3 years, especially with no draft choices.
In regard to Ishmael Smith, every time I hit preview it came up in less than a second. When I'd hit SUBMIT, BBI would just hang. After 2 or 3 minutes I would stop it and try again. As you see I tried several times. If you look at the times, they are all over the place. There is even three 4:06am's. Maybe its my computer?
To Canton: Sometimes
Jon in NYC: Your right I missed him
Ishmael Smith: Is he a free agent? Is he a fit?
I think Jeremy Lin could work.
Jon you made an excellent point at 10:19am
Reports: Phil Jackson will allow Jeff Hornacek to break from triangle offense
I hope Phil lets Hornacek coach what system he thinks is best for his team. No luxury seat coaching. And please let the man pick his own assistants. No more spies in the locker room.
I wonder if Phil just felt personally betrayed by Fisher breaking from the triangle because he seem real upset that Fisher wanted to run the team like he thought was best for the players.
So close to getting Steph Curry
So close to getting Kyle Lowry
"I owe everything to Jeff Hornacek," he said."
Maybe Horny can help develop the shots of Early, Grant and Wroten

So close to getting Anthony Davis - area junc -

Touche'
I have actually seen him mentioned a couple of times.
If hornacek plans to run the Sloan high pick and. Roll with triangle mixed in I would love rondo, if he is going to run strictly triangle no thank you
Quote:
what are the thoughts here? I've been getting into some serious debates with another buddy/co-worker about his fit, but I think he is exactly the kind of floor general we have been missing, and poor shooting/attitude issues aside I would be pretty excited to get him here. I know he is a dick, but from a pure basketball sense I could see it..

So you okay with Rondo? His antics don't bother you in the least?
What was so crazy that he did in Boston?
Carlisle and him were just not a match...
If when the Knicks sit down with him and he and hornacek do not get along or don't see the game the use way or don't have the same view on how plays should be called you do not sign him that simple...you tell him from the start this is melos and kps team and that we want you to set them up and make the game easy for them...its really that simple
Actually I don't even care all that much about the bad shooting because I think it can be fixed somewhat. I just want no part of Rondo whatsoever.
Tubby Smith benched him for six games at Kentucky for An accumulation of arguments, not listening and talking back to himself and assistant coaches.
Rondo reportedly threw a water bottle through a TV in boston after having errors pointed out by an assistant coach. In another incident after the big three were gone, he cursed out Rivers which lead to the two having to be separated before punches were thrown. A source close to Rivers listed Rivers dislike for Rondo as a reason he was willing to leave.
We know what happened in Dallas.
In Sacramento he called a homosexual ref a faggot.
An argument can certainly be made to bring him to NY and I would not be against it necessarily, but the attitude issues go much deeper than just a little tiff in Dallas. He did improve this year and Im wondering if he has matured after the embarrassment of the incident with the referee. But the concerns about his attitude and mentality are valid, IMO.
If Porzingis develops into a true stud, you can go pretty far with him, a lead guard, and a bunch of perimeter defenders who space the floor on offense. I also think Grant has the making of at least an above average defender.
Is he any good?
His numbers seem to be really good, but no one on this thread seems to think he is an option for the Knicks.
Man, I could not disagree and more. Temporary moves dont accomplish anything. Signing a Rondo because he's marginally better than Grant or Calderon, but with the conceit that you're never going to do much paying Rondo $15-25 million per year, is sheer madness.
Frankly, I'd rather overpay a RFA wing on a projection of improvement than pay Rondo. And I want no part of an aging Rondo. His game is design to go to absolute hell as he ages (he'll turn 31 during the season).
I'm all for getting a bunch of picks and gambling on the likes of Malik Newman, Cat Barber....but that's a crapshoot as well.

Throwing a lot of money at a bad but available player defines the last 15 years of Knicks basketball. It is not the answer. The "get someone" mentality is just wrong. It's fundamentally not a way to build a basketball team, or any team in a cap sport.

But honestly there aren't really any free agents out there that I deem attractive either, among the realistic ones I mean.

As an aside, that's kind of what the Giants are doing. But to be fair they have to in order to make the most out of Eli's last 4 years. There is no Eli manning on the Knicks roster to justify that.
Knicks are not going to be contenders in 16-17, Finally have their first rounder next year, Huge glut of FA PGs next off-season.
Right now is not the time to force the issue on adding a PG.
Take it past this year and could make them more attractive to the elite pgs next year
I'd personally go after batum and wait on point guard until the following year, see what grant can do

Nice player, but not worth the max deal he will likely get. Also, not likely to be interested in being a Knick unless Melo is dealt.

Why would he want melo dealt?

Because he plays the same position?
