Duda is off right now at a Sunday morning doctor's appointment. #Mets fear it's not something muscular, but a disc issue affecting his back.
I wonder if they'd consider Dom Smith up, he obviously won't have Duda's power, but this lineup really needs a pure hitter and smith seems Olerud-esque

#Mets are banking on a long outing from Syndergaard today. Their bullpen is gassed; Addison Reed and Hansel Robles are both unavailable.

I doubt it. He's got a ways to go.
Smith had a bad couple of games and got off to a horrendous strt Â
out there every day. He cannot be the replacement for Duda at first. He's barely good enough to be a bench player as it is. I'm interested to see how things play out with this Duda/first base issue.
Yes and no. Yes, he is a huge blow. But I'd be interested to see if we could replace with a more consistent hitter. Sure, we'd lose some power but as we can see with the best offensive teams in the league, they are way less reliant on HRs. Given the power that we already have, I think we'd be better with a more consistent, less powerful hitter. Just my opinion.

That's cool man. Happy Birthday btw. Looks like you had a fun game to be at.
Thanks Z. It was cool. Been to many games but never Â
IMO Duda is going to basically be day-to-day for the rest of this season, no matter the results of the doctor's visit this AM. As to someone else to play 1st ... sooner is better than later ... can't rely on a 2015 2nd half every year.

Duda's "2nd half of 2015" was no different then his 2015 April and May and all of 2014. Didn't Duda even have back issues last year that landed him on the DL around one of his cold streaks? I wouldn't be surprised if the back is directly responsible for some of his ineptness, this year and last year. The Duda this year is not the Duda we are accustomed to seeing. Yes, he may hit HR in bunches, but when he's not doing that he still has a high OBP, taking walks, and rapping doubles in the gap. This Duda has been HR or nothing and his overall numbers are way down.
Losing his 30 HR pop and high OBP in the middle of the order would be a pretty big blow IMO.
That said we might be jumping the gun here. Maybe he needs surgery and he's out for the year, maybe he needs a couple weeks rest, or maybe this is an ongoing issue all year. I don't think we know anything yet.

I'm very curious on diagnosis. Herniated disc that requires surgery I'd think would have him back this season. The laser treatments they have now have shortened recovery times.

I was referring to the team's 2nd half after getting Ces at the deadline, not Duda's.
Walker, Cabrera, Granderson, and yes Wright are the most frustrating part of our team right now. Its bad enough we have zero's in the lineup like Campbell and Rivera, but when all the secondary guys are struggling too our lineup is seriously awful.

would have Granderson and Wright 1 and 2 IF... and its a big IF.. they are both .350 OBP guys. Granderson clearly has not been that early this year. Wright has but he's been up and down every other week. Neither is reliable right now.
I love a middle order of Conforto, Cespedes, and Duda. 3 guys in a row with 30 HR pop who are also OBP guys all protecting each other lefty righty.
The 6th hitter in my lineup is TDA. A right-handed power bat that protects Duda nicely but of course he isn't healthy.
7 and 8 would be Walker and Cabrera suitable for the boom or bust guys they are.
Clearly things aren't going as planned.... Lot of season left though.
I don't think TDA is coming back anytime soon - he hasn't even picked up a baseball yet, has he ??
Today's not the day to discuss it after last night, but I'd almost want to swap DW and Cabrera in the lineup. Maybe on the next road trip.
TDA is expected to resume baseball activities shortly so at least there's that. Probably at least a couple weeks after that though.
I just don't like Cabrera up at the top of the lineup. He's a .260ish career hitter. .329 OBP. No speed. Career wRC+ lowest of every regular in our lineup. Just not a fan of him there at all but right now everyone's struggling so why not? lol
He's making me look bad today now with a SB too as far as the whole "2 hole" comment. lol. Even if I don't think he should be at the top of the lineup Im still very happy we have him.
Not many SS can produce offensively much at all. He can.

If the mets weren't so bad offensively then I bet he wouldn't be hitting at the top of the lineup. I agree with you.
Nobody has said that he's done. It's a conversation on IF he's done and the variety of options we could go in. I mean, we're not talking about a sprained ankle here.
Not saying it would be easy to replace the numbers he's put up the past few years, that would be impossible, but just as an example Daniel Murphy has never come close to putting up power numbers like that and we all know he'd bring other strengths that Duda doesn't have.
Martin Prado would be the absolute perfect fit because he'd also be able to play some 3B if necessary, or if Duda is able to come back later in the year. Just gotta hope the fish go into a nose dive over the next month or 2. I'm sure there are other guys that would fit though.
So those that hunger for Murphy at 1B should have no problem moving Walker there. Personally, I think Murphy and Walker don't offer near the offense you need from 1B. If you want to go small ball though thats probably the best route. Move Walker to 1B and call up Herrera.
though among internal options Flores will probably get another shot before Herrera. Really just wish Wright would move over to 1st because that would help in a bunch of ways.
René Rivera has 2nd-best CS % among active C (if you lower qualifier enough)
Wonder if that will help Noah Syndergaard today

Send Pawecki down to AAA to play full time

Looks like he went ice cold again over the past week.

Campbell sucks. Please get rid of this scrub.

That was funny.....I always get a chuckle out of our ol' Poet Laureate Marty Bennett.
