We have a group of 15. Getting a few shellfish platters, an antipasto, salad and then a choice of four main courses.
It's coming out to about 110 PP with 3 hours of unlimited beer/liquor.
Newport is fun. Good restaurant. What are you doing during the day? golf? deep sea fishing?
Looking into deep sea fishing but it's tough with our group size to get a boat.
Yeah, most private charters have a 6 person max. I'm going June 24th with about 10 guys, we had to get 2 boats and split up and have a competition.
unless you want to go on the sardine can boats where they get 90 people crammed in together and you spend the day untangling lines you have to go private charter.
You'd need 3 boats, and at $750 - $900 a pop per boat it gets expensive.
tons of golf down there or just Narragansett beach is just a couple miles over the bridge has great scenery, decent waves (depending on the day), and coast guard house close by for day drinking on a deck overlooking the ocean.
RE: RE: That's not bad considering the booze included Â
Great location right on Bannister's Warf. It would be at least $100 pp.
It's close to the main strip of bars right?
We are doing a pre fixed thing so I gave her a price and she's making it work for us.
Right in the middle of town. Everything is walking distance though so it doesn't really matter. It's a very nice place. High end fancy/shmancy. Go to the upstairs bar at Clarke's Cookhouse or especially the rooftop bat at the Vanderbilt Grace for good views of town or the harbor.
is fun, we went there the night before my wedding, and after the wedding.
not sure where you're from, but stuff winds down early in Newport, I think most places close by 1am even on weekends and getting a cab is almost impossible (not sure where you're staying).
Almost anywhere will have an outdoor area that's fun.
You want some good clam chowder go to the Black Pearl outdoor area. Quicker and easier than going into the Black Pearl and you're drinking outside.

I'm staying in Jamestown. Uber a problem? Or should I look into a car services and try to set something up for the weekend?
22 Bowens is right in the middle of the action. You will have Pelham and the Blues Café near by for bands. You can make a night of dinner, outdoor cocktails till 10ish, and them move up to the band bars. This is early summer, so you wont have the real big crowds to deal with (reservations, early lines, traffic, etc).
Day itinerary for 10 guys early summer is tough. The beaches are abit cool (thus minimal scenery), sailing, shopping, and mansions are couplish. I would head back to happy hour as soon as they serve, but that's just me.
There is a boat shuttle to Newport, but round trip is like $18 per person. Much easier/cheaper to drive and park next to the Marriot. You can walk anywhere from the Marriott.

Nobody is going to want to move the cars. We will be drinking way too much!
When I was at Brown (mid-late 70s) Newport was a popular location for serious dates, for those (not me) who could afford to spend hundreds on dinner date.
There was a guy who took a girl to a casual date function at a fraternity. The young lady basically ditched the guy at the party. The guy was obviously pissed.A couple weeks later he invites her to a fancy dinner at a fancy restaurant in Newport. He picks her up and drives down. Halfway through the meal, he excuses himself to use the rest room. He does not return. Instead, he drives back to Providence. At the time, there was little or no transportation between Providence and Newport, and the ho probably didn't have money with her. How she got back, and when, is lost to the sands of time. But the guy is a legend at Brown.
are practically next to each other on Thames. Not surprising given their location that both spots tend to cater to the tourist trade.
There are several more clubs within a 3 or 4 block radius on Broadway including the Parlor (was Cafe 200), Hope, The Tavern, The Fastnet Cafe and The 5th Element. These clubs tend to be frequented by locals and all have music most weekends. Fastnet has a regular Monday night band as well.
Also Jimmy's Saloon on Memorial (near Bellevue). Young crowd there with Salve Regina girls usually.

Preferably with live music on a sat night.

Can't go wrong with any of the spots off Thames. My favorite is the Brick Alley Pub. I love their chowder. Blows Black Pearls away IMO.

They have a bar on the roof with the best view of the city.. harbor and sunset... Gorgeous place - great atmosphere.
Have Fun!
