Looks a bit like the 2005 standings:
Giants 11 5
Redskins 10 6
Cowboys 9 7
Eagles 6 10
The similarities to the 2005 Giants are hard to miss: a splashy free agent haul, a few promising draft classes, one world-class offensive playmaker, a defense rebuilt around a star DE returning from an injury-shortened season, and Eli settling nicely into the retooled offense. Doesn't mean the results will be similar, but many pieces are in place for the twilight of Manning's career to echo its dawn.
Another important factor in 2005 was McNabb going down when the Eagles were 4-4 and still competitive. (The Giants faced Mike McMahon twice.) The most likely candidate for that role this year is Tony Romo, but you never know.
I really couldn't venture a credible guess because I am such a diehard. I really like what they did in free agency as well as the draft. That alone makes me want to give them the division right there. My minds eye sees a ton of talent all around. And I think as a result the competition in camp will be keen.
What we can't know is who will cut it and who won't. Who stays healthy through camp and during the season. All you need do is look at the Cowboys last year. The loss of one guy one guy and PHHHT! There went their season. Well, here goes. The defense can't be any worse then it was last year. I believe they will easily be middle of the road or better. The offense I think will be even better then their 8th overall ranking from last year. So , 10-6 maybe 11-5. Wildcard at the very least.,
double-digit loser might be premature. I am going to go with the Redskins then the Giants, but it is too early for one of these things.
Dallas has questions on defense. Plus, Romo has old age as well as injury questions. That's a two-front war. They have won three out of every four games that he has started over the last two years. Very few professional athletes impact their team's W-L % to that degree. I am guessing, however, that the cumulative impact of his shoulder injuries leaves him in the diminished skills category that Belichick placed Kosar in many years ago.
With Bob Tucker. Still see her m from time to time, coached against his son in HS basketball. Guy was a great athlete who got put into the last exhibition game of the preseason to protect the starters. Caught a bunch of other passes and made Alex Webster reconsider cutting him.
I have no prediction for the division. My only prediction is Giants better good enough to Challenge for play offs.
