I remember an interview he did after he cut ties with Nike a few years back. He couldnt handle the fact that when he first signed with them that they didnt want him too involved in the design of the products. Kanye at the time spun this as some sort of oppression being enacted on him because of his skin color and intelligence. Then he went on to complain that the corporate structure of the world is such that no man from his standing would be allowed to design and create shoes and products and have it be a viable solo business venture (serious) and that it was too expensive for him to try that (also serious).
He's 100% crazy. It's not an act, it's all totally gotten to his head.

I don't think he's a genius or prodigy by any stretch, but compared so many rappers, he is clearly more intelligent.
I also think that people often factor in his production chops and conflate that with intelligence. Kanye is unequivocally a technically talented producer, and I think some people extrapolate that into other aspects of his persona.
But considering how he seemingly gets more and more outlandish and is married to a Kardashian (aka a family that made their entire fortune off of a carefully manicured reality tv/social media image), I wouldn't be surprised if Randy was spot on that the vast majority of this is a total act.

I don't really see him as a visionary at all, atleast not anymore. Fame, fortune, and just being an overall piece of shit has gotten in the way of him being good at his craft. He cares more about shock value and staying relevant now. When you have all the money in the world and you swing for the fences in your music, having it fail doesn't mean much.
