This is bullshit. My son graduatedd college in May and he only got 40 likes on Facebook picture of him with the degree and his best friend (Joel) on the same day posted he was clean for one year and Joel got 233 likes for his drug free announcement.
Why do we live in a day and age where we praise someone for once using drugs and not using them but someone with a degree gets left out in the cold.w anna know something funny? My son has 340 more friends than my friend Joel has and they have 280 mutual friends so basically the same people are seeing this. All of my sons friends from high school seem like their jealous countless countless.
I left a little comment and everyone called me an asshole, i guess common sense isn’t a thing of today...or maybe I sense a bit of jealously in the whole conditoning. this whole little thing says a lot of noticing about society. i guess im just a grumpy old man.

- comparison is the antithesis of joy - if you are constantly comparing yourself to others, whether it's money, size of your house, # of likes, you will never truly be happy
- 40 facebook likes (what your son received) is nothing to sneeze at
- generally speaking, facebook friends are less likely to "like" a self-congratulating post for a nice but "normal" achievement (look at me, I got my degree!/won an ultramarathon!) than a post admitting to overcoming weakness/sadness due to challenges and obstacles in their life (and in both cases), a lot less than a great picture
- drug addicts can face some pretty dire consequences (homelessness, jail, deterioriation, death) and so progress to overcoming that is likely going to generate sympathy and support
maybe we don't understand addiction because we weren't stupid and knew better...to not to fucking do drugs?

You have to admit...some of the longest threads have been started or at least dominated by trolls and dupes because most of us can't help but engage them. And long threads are always good for business.
A thread like this is, though, is so fucking stupid but sometimes you get those “troll aside” posts and an actual good interaction between quality BBI members.
