LET'S TAKE FIRST PLACE!!
Can Harvey finally rebound?
"I'm not a quitter, Harvey exclusively told ESPN on Monday. I'm not going to just quit and put the ball down. It's a fight.
Lucas Duda to the DL. Ty Kelly to the Mets
Travis d'Arnaud (rotator cuff) has started to throw at home in California with no apparent difficulty. He is due to report to the Mets complex in Florida midweek. Meanwhile, Zack Wheeler is back throwing off a mound after April surgery to remove an undissolved stitch from his original Tommy John surgery. He remains on track for a return to the majors near July 1. Read more at MLB.com.
Thor is player of the week
Have to think we would be in first if he was still on the roster. Being 1/2 game out of first you know he has won them a handful of games already this season.
Cecchini starts for LV.
I can be frustrated and vent when he hits a monster HR off of us.
Everyone else does about things they feel strongly about.
Actually Strasburg had an almost identical ERA and numbers up until the point last year but it's always nice getting a swipe the moment we start losing.

+1 That's what it said on the telly.

I really don't know how a pitcher just loses his ability to "locate" his pitches for this long. Especially Cy Young caliber pitcher. Boggles my mind but it obviously ain't anything physical. Send him to the minors and let him figure it out there. Strasburg didn't go though anything close to this, for those who like to compare.

A little sensitive are you?
Well, I was comparing numbers in Strasburgs second year off of TJ surgery, like Harvey...not last years numbers. You are right about last years numbers but that's not what I was comparing.

You wanted them to keep Murphy. No need to belabor the point 100 times over...

You are free to post whatever you want.. just pointing out that you've expressed your point that you wanted them to keep Murphy about 500 times over the last few months. I think you've made it known. If you want to keep making it known.. go ahead, I suppose.
Not for nothing but if there wasn't a pick tied to Murphy, I bet he would have been signed much sooner. The pick is affecting FA a lot more than it used to. Let's not minimize how good of a hitter Murphy has always been.
Then I misunderstood...my bad on that.

500 times really?
We are playing the Nats, and he is killing us, it's a fair comment.
It's not about making it known, it is simply talking about how I feel just like everyone else does on these threads. Not sure why you have such a problem with it but sorry to bother you so much.
Murphy pimped the hell out of that home run. And with that, another disastrous Harvey Day.

Murphy never hit anywhere near this at any point in his career. Since his work with Long last August he has had a meteoric rise. No team in baseball wanted Murphy last year including the Nats who explored every other option BUT Murphy until they had no other choice.

That could be true but I don't remember much of a market at all. Some people were surprised he got a 3 year deal once it got late. Put it this way, the Nats would have rather traded real talent for Phillips than simply sign Murphy and lose the pick. Your point is valid though.

Have to say, that does it for me ...Murphy's officially a cocksuckin' Nat!!! Fuck that douche!

Exactly. Does he want a doggy biscuit for doing what the rest of the league is doing? Smacking around Harvey? Kudos Murphy...you're special.
And yeah, the "thanks for all you did, good luck" phase is officially over with Murphy. Officially a National now. Fuck him.
Harvey sends word through PR that he's not talking. Weak. Gotta be accountable.
Mike Vaccaro
Matt Harvey and accountability: not on speaking terms. #Mets
Matt Ehalt
So there will be no answers tonight other than Terry and Plawecki.
David Lennon
Harvey left. Didn't stick around for postgame. "He's not going to converse tonight," #Mets spokesman just said.
Kristie Ackert @Ackert_NYDN 20m20 minutes ago
Harvey is not speaking to the media post game. #Mets
Anthony DiComo
Matt Harvey bolted the stadium immediately after the game tonight. Didn't stick around. He won't be discussing his start. #Mets
Mike Puma
Harvey left the ballpark before speaking to the media.
Maria I. Guardado
Matt Harvey has declined to speak to reporters.
forget about the media Harvey not talking is not fair to his teammates who were forced to speak for him totally unacceptable on every level
Anthony DiComo
Why is it important to talk after games like this? One reason only: Not doing so leaves your teammates out to dry, forced to answer for you.
Mike Puma
I don't think Kevin Plawecki was too thrilled having to answer Matt Harvey's questions. But, to his credit, Plawecki is a pro.
John Harper
When Harvey bails, it's not just a bad look, it falls on teammates like Plawecki to answer for him. It doesn't go unnoticed in clubhouse.
Matt Ehalt
Players usually like to talk about teammates' success and praise him. Not so much why a teammate, who bailed on the media, is struggling
Rich Coutinho
not talking post game is just making it harder on every level answering a few questions not too.much to ask
I can't even imagine how frustrated he is right now... but you gotta take your medicine and deal with it. Don't leave your catcher out there to dry and make him answer for you. That's shitty.
Terry Collins on Harvey's next start: Weve got to think whats not just best for Matt, but whats best for us moving forward." #Mets
Matt Ehalt
Terry: We got to think not just what is best for Matt but what is best for us moving forward at the moment. A lot of things to consider."
Matt Ehalt
Terry: Im pretty surprised. Im really surprised. This guy is too good to continue like this.

Agreed.
I mean they could DL Harvey right now, send him to AAA for a few weeks or something (happened to Strasburg last year) and once rediscovering himself he could come back and pitch a dominant second half also. Would really be the same thing.
At this point Im not counting on anything though. Harvey is the 5th starter and its a mess.
Roll with Gilmartin or Verrett in the 5th spot for now and pray we don't need to do the same thing with deGrom soon.
But stuff like walking out on the media says a lot about Matt. I mean, the entire team went out to watch Harvey throw a simulated game a few days ago in support and then he does this. I hate it mostly because it only validates what a prick he is. Believe me, I want to be wrong.
Man. If you would have told me we'd be down Harvey, deGrom, Duda, and TDA heading into the season (deGrom might return to normalcy soon) I would have said we were screwed. We are a deep team but losing two aces and two 800 OPS hitters? Yikes.
Now, their situations are a little different but I truly think that Harvey exacerbates thinks with his attitude. Maybe.
More diva-ness from Harvey is frustrating just from the pov that you'd like to see him grind his way through it and not seem like a phony tough guy. I know he had another rough outing but it happens. He's a highly talented high maintenance pitcher. Wright should throw out his lunch tomorrow.
