A+ Reyes
A TBD

AAA-
Nimmo 4-5, 2 2b, 3b (.346/.411/.580 in May, scorching hot)
Herrera 0-5, K (bad time for a slump, last 10 hitting .238)
Rivera 1-3, HBP
Taijeron 0-5, K
Ynoa 6 innings 11 hits 4 runs 2 walks 3 k's (Sadly, I think the pretty era will look quite a bit different in a few weeks
Walters 2 innings 1 hit 1 run 4 walks 0 k's (Would be shocking if he's not the next guy to be dumped from the 40 man at this point)
Sewald 1 inning 2 hits 2 runs 0 walks 2 k's

AA-
Smith 2-4, 2b (not a great May coming into last night, not an option to replace Duda anytime "soon")
Cruzado 1-4, HR, BB, K
Burdick 0-1
Oberste 2-4, 2b
Jannis 7 innings 3 hits 0 runs 0 walks 8 k's
Morris 1 inning 1 hit 0 runs 0 walks 2 k's

A+
Guillorme 2-4, 2 k's
Rosario 1-4, BB
Becerra 3-5, 2 2b, K (hard to knock such a high average but 0 homers on the season following 1 homer his final 53 last year... very odd)
Nido 1-4, 2b, K

Knapp 8 innings 3 hits 1 run 0 earned 1 walk 4 k's (Last 2 starts 15 innings 6 hits 0 er)

Mazeika 0-2, K
Ramos 0-3, 2 k's
Conlon 7.2 innings 6 hits 1 run 0 walks 7 k's (7-0 with a 1.06 era)

Brandon Nimmo during his current nine-game hitting streak he has slashed .421/.500/.763 with five doubles, four triples and six walks.

Siena in May, 78 PA's 23 k's with 2 doubles. The K's are less of an issue if you are Cespedes. If you are slugging .278 with 23 k's in 78 PA's... yikes. He's still walking a lot but just seems like a guy who takes a ton of pitches.

Any insight on who or what positions Mets will target in upcoming draft
P J Conlon is from Northern Ireland and pitched
Ira : 5/24/2016 9:42 am : link
in the University of San Diego. The Mets drafted him in the 13th round last year. He's 6'0", a southpaw and his fast ball occasionally hits 92, but not usually. His curve is his best pitch, but he also has a change and a slider.

But somehow, he's 7-0 with a 1.06 era, a 0.96 WHIP and a .228 era. He's struck out 43 and walked 6 in 51 innings. So, who knows what to make of this kid, but he'll be interesting to follow.

They have been connected heavily to Wake Forrest 1b Will Craig (and this was way before Duda's injury came out).

He's an overage little lefty with "meh" stuff but he's been incredible. Sometimes guys end up better than their stuff but he has nothing to gain remaining in Columbia. We know he's a dominant pitcher in low-a ball. Now lets see what he is in St. Lucie
Nice to see Nimmo
Metnut : 5/24/2016 9:45 am : link
still raking but I guess Dilson being cold now evens it out.

Is anyone seriously suggesting that Smith is an option to replace Duda right now? Does he even have 2 months of AA time yet? He's doing "fine" there for now, but it's not like he's crushing it.

A lot of people on twitter have suggested it. Would be ridiculous. He's not even hitting "that well" in AA. That's not a knock on him, he's young, he's developing etc. But for the 2016 Mets? He'd likely make us yearn for Mike Jacobs.

What would be your best case solution to the gaping hole at 1B over the next 2 months ?? Is David Wright a realistic option.....it would certainly avoid some of the bad throws across the diamond. His buddy Zimmerman made the transition.

What would it take to get Loney out of the Padres organization ??

Loney can opt out for a big league offer (Padres can match if they choose). Wright said he's open to playing 1b but the Mets apparently have shot that down. They really don't have an internal option and seemingly are unwilling to give Rivera the shot he may deserve. Marc Krauss is garbage, Dom Smith isn't close to ready. Wish there were some "mystery man" in the system but they just don't exist.

A lot of clamoring to move Conforto to 1B.....not sure I would make that move.

He's not a bad left fielder and will get better if he stays there, but he is a lefty. It wouldn't hurt for him to learn the position.

Thought he was activated days ago. He still hasn't made it into a game?

Conforto to First....it's true it wouldn't hurt to learn the position. Let's try it. I just wish they didn't have to try it mid-season, and certainly not against the Nats.

Looks like they might have to re-make the defense on the fly, a quarter of the way thru the season. New 1B, LF, CF.....let's go !!

For some reason he still hasn't played.

23. Amed Rosario, SS
New York Mets
Previous rank: 42
Current level: High-A
Rosario is repeating high-A, so take his numbers with a small grain of salt, but the electric bat speed has produced more power this year, and he has improved his plate discipline. He should be in Double-A Binghamton before the month is out, at which point we'll get a better read on whether he's turning into the superstar the Mets thought he'd be when they gave him $1.75 million in 2012.
Small gripe
ZGiants98 : 5/24/2016 4:14 pm : link
But what guy's signing between 1-2 million bucks are "expected" to be superstars? Interesting tools? Upside? Sure. But getting superstars out of million dollar signings seem like extreme long shots at best.
I guess what I'm saying
ZGiants98 : 5/24/2016 4:16 pm : link
Is I don't like the way that was framed. Makes it seem like it's a disaster if Rosario doesn't end up a superstar. 1.8 million bucks or whatever is literally nothing in the grand scheme of things.
1.75
DanMetroMan : 5/24/2016 4:19 pm : link
From the Mets suggested they thought he was a special talent. They have never been one to blow up their budget on one guy like that.
At
DanMetroMan : 5/24/2016 4:22 pm : link
No point does he imply it's anything resembling a "disaster" if he's not a superstar. That is your own creation. He's saying the Mets gave him a huge bonus (for their standards) so they clearly felt he was something "special" and we will see if they were right. You don't think Keith Law of all people realizes that if he's Ruben Tejada 2.0 then it was still money well spent? His point is 100% mets centric and valid

RHP Andrew Church has been added to the Columbia Fireflies roster. Outfielder Vicente Lupo was sent down to Brooklyn to make room.
Sure but again these are minimal risks.
ZGiants98 : 5/24/2016 4:23 pm : link
The Mets really think Guerrero, Rosario, Hernandez, and Gimenez are all going to be superstars? It's essentially like putting a nickle in the nickle machine at the casino.

No risk. All upside.

Not like the Red Sox who blew 70 million and are screwed if a guy doesn't perform.

Anyways not a big deal.
I'm taking issue with
ZGiants98 : 5/24/2016 4:26 pm : link
"Superstar they they thought he'd be". To me it implies it's expected. Could be wrong. Again, these are no risk moves. Essentially long term fliers for pennies IMO.

Again... for the Mets to spend 1.75 vs. their normal expenditures it means the Mets were of the belief (given their normal spending habits) that he was worth going above and beyond for aka a "star". You are creating a narrative that isn't there. The Mets by their standards "went wild" for Rosario so Law is saying we will see if they were right or not. He knows 1.75 in the grand scheme is nothing.
I guess...
ZGiants98 : 5/24/2016 4:33 pm : link
I think their overall philosophy is that all these moves are low risk baby moves. Rosario is just one of the higher ones. I don't think that means they expect him to be a super star at all. Anyways I'm not going to quibble over the merits of this anymore. Lol

Which Sox player are they screwed if he doesn't perform? Castillo? Moncada?

They really don't need either to pan out though I'm pretty certain Moncada will.

They had an 80M player in Sandoval on the bench (before he had surgery and is out for the year), and another 80M guy (Ramirez) playing out of position and they tried to trade him this past off-season.

And a 73M bust in Castillo in the minors.

and they're scoring runs at a historic pace.
Pj that literally has nothing to do with
ZGiants98 : 5/24/2016 4:50 pm : link
What I was talking about. If you sign a guy for 73 million dollars, and I don't care who you are, you expect them to be a star or at least a very good player. That's a huge miscalculation if he isn't. Somebody like Rosario isn't even in the same universe. Whether or not the Red Sox can absorb it is really irrelevant.

I was only asking what you meant by this:

how are they screwed?
Yeah you picked out one
ZGiants98 : 5/24/2016 5:09 pm : link
Or two words and didn't really follow the context of the conversation. The world obviously doesn't stop spinning if Castillo is a bust but it's still a gross miscalculation in terms of resources and expectations. I was comparing the gravity of a situation like that to Rosario's situation which is no risk whatsoever. Anyways this is boring me. Lol. I'm out.
