NFT: Happy Birthday Bob Dylan

aquidneck : 5/24/2016 2:07 pm
3/4 century old today. Songwriter, still working, wrote hundreds and hundreds of songs covered by thousands. Much like poets from the past centuries his work will be kept alive, sung and studied for generations to come.

One of the few that continued to write great songs as he grew older. Happy Birthday Bob - the search for the 'new' Dylan has ended at last.

It ain't ever gonna happen.

Speaking of Dylan covers, I just found this sweet one by The Tedeschi Trucks Band (with Amy Ray). Happy 75 to Bob Dylan.

"reggae Bob Dylan". That will take you to "Is It Rolling Bob - a reggae tribute to Bob Dylan." It's a 12-song compilation that someone put together, various reggae artists doing his tunes. I love it - and you'd think Dylan was a rasta man, his lyrics fit the music so well.

Dylan will never be forgotten -- and his songs will be listened to as long as our language stays alive. Happy Birthday indeed!
Jimy Hendrix called him the very best ...

Back-in-the-day .... (And still is, in my opinion)

My all-time favorite - All along the Watch Tower (which is full of Biblical symbolism)

We'd both seen him live. Thirty + years later we took our kids to see him when he did his small stadium tour awhile back. When he goes I guess we really will start to feel like our time is passing.
Speaking of covers I bought the Chimes of Freedom set. If you're a fan you should check it out.

he would tell me that Dylan was the Poet Laureate as opposed to Springsteen being a street poet. While I don't necessarily completely agree with that assessment, Dylan was the one around at the start of the revolution and represented it well.

Happy Birthday Bob

An unforgettable legend would be an accurate description.
