Asked during an appearance on WGR 550 whether Bills G.M. Doug Whaley believes receiver Sammy Watkins is injury prone, Whaley painted with the broadest possible brush. “This is the game of football,” Whaley said, via Harry Scull Jr. of the Buffalo News. “Injuries are part of it. It’s a violent game that I personally don’t think humans are supposed to play.” That’s the kind of statement that could prompt plenty of humans to prevent their offspring from playing football. Making the words even more jarring is that Whaley drove directly into a ditch under the guise of trying to justify his faith in Watkins, for whom Whaley gave up the ninth overall pick in 2014, a first-round pick in 2015, and a fourth-round pick in 2015 to acquire. |
Exactly
Of course he would be a soccer kid s yeah, so it would never cre up....

Hasn't soccer come under some scrutiny lately with the heading? I don't follow it, so I'm asking from the perspective of what's been reported...
Yes. A very weird thing for an NFL GM to say publically.

Or even publicly. I am brain dead today.

Imagine hunting for bison with only a bow & arrow?

some, butt it's still unresolved afaik. Nothing is without its risks. It on balance, I would rather they play soccer.
Yeah, I've told this many times, but my son who lettered in several sports was given an ultimatum by me which was very simple: You want to play High School football? Go for it, but ONLY as a punter and/or kicker. That was his choice. He opted NOT to play at all and instead pursued his other passions, baseball and basketball..
Something I've been meaning to look into but haven't got around to it yet.

And the arrow has a suction cup on the end....
Is it quite possible, we have a GM hinting at the end of the game due to a monster concussion lawsuit in the future?

Yes and youth soccer has banned heading for kids 10 and under. Kids 11-13 are only allowed to head the ball during practice, not in games.
A recent story in Atlanta had someone playing in those bubbles had a collision and ended with severe head injury. I believe he is in a coma.

You'd still have the same risk from concussions/CTE...

Sorry not in coma, but badly injured.
Bubble injury - ( New Window )
Mid season he banged his head on artificial turf coming around the end and diving at the QB - got up shaking his head and the coach immediately pulled him. Had to go through the concussion protocol.
His main focus is Basketball.
Sorry Football, you can't have him, 15 years old now - 6'3 and about 200 lbs, still growing.
Even his actual words are a long way from "Humans shouldn't play football."
Stopped playing football in 8th grade after getting a concussion for the 3rd year in a row. After the last one, the coach didn't want him going to the doctor. "Just sit out this week. If you go back to the doctor they'll make you miss the rest of the season". That was it for my son.

They're not a LONG WAY OFF, imo..His personal opinion is that it's a game the person probably shouldn't play. That's closer than you infer, imv
And here it is: Whaley: "Poor choice of words" to say humans shouldn't play football.
