More than a dozen underclassmen are undecided as to whether to stay in the draft or return to school. Considering the Knicks have no picks this year and very few young players on the roster, we may be a tempting destination for those players that go undrafted. Additionally, the Knicks may be able to get one of these talented guys later in the draft.
Guys who recently decided that they will remain in the draft: SG Isaiah Whitehead of Seton Hall; Ben Bentil of Providence
Guys who recently decided that they will return to school: Nigel Hayes of Wisconsin; Josh Hart of Villanova; Trevon Bluiett of Xavier; SG Malik Newman of Mississippi State; Amida Brimah and Rodney Purvis of UConn
A few guys who must decide by tomorrow (Wednesday):
JAMES BLACKMON (INDIANA)
ISAIAH BRISCOE (KENTUCKY)
DILLON BROOKS (OREGON)
TYLER DORSEY (OREGON)
MARCUS LEE (KENTUCKY)
CHINANU ONUAKU (LOUISVILLE)
CALEB SWANIGAN (PURDUE)
MELO TRIMBLE (MARYLAND)
TROY WILLIAMS (INDIANA)
Pretty hyped.
Right. Maybe they could buy one?
Pretty hyped.
Yep, Wisconsin is a Big 10 favorite and should be a top 10-15 mainstay all year. Going to be a tough team to beat.
And wasn't Malik Newman supposed to be a slam-dunk one-and-done guy?
@GoodmanESPN
Oregon's Dillon Brooks is headed back to school, and the Ducks could be really, really good next season
And wasn't Malik Newman supposed to be a slam-dunk one-and-done guy?
Yeah, Newman's recruitment was really weird. He and Stone were supposedly a package deal for a long time, and then that all fell apart out of nowhere. Not sure how he ended up at Miss St., which is far from a bball powerhouse.
Lorenzo Romar has been on a recruiting tear lately, which is just bizarre considering that UW has accomplished absolutely nothing in recent years.

Nike.

I don't see MD as an NCAA tourney team next year even with Melo. Dodd/Ceko at C. I noticed they just signed a graduate transfer for the 4. Nickens underwhelmed last year. Wiley coming off of injury. Brantley at PG. Two four star recruits, one of which is a PG. I see them finishing below .500. Long way off, but I have no expectations.

Romar hired his dad as an assistant coach... that ol' horseshit move. Fuck em... they still can't beat Gonzaga. Speaking of which, Karnowski has decided to return to Gonzaga for his 5th season (medical redshirt).
Doesn't explain how Romar pulled Markelle Fultz all the way across the country from DeMatha to UW, though. That one stunned me.

IU junior Troy Williams staying in the NBA draft, a source close to the former Oak Hill standout told me.
Jon, what do you think of Jack Cichy's potential? The guy abused Cody Kessler and USC when they played in their Bowl game. Definitely caught my attention.
Personally, my favorite LB is Raekwon McMillan of Ohio State.
Marcus Lee is withdrawing from the Draft and will transfer from Kentucky, school says. Lotta bigs coming in there.
Eh not too big I don't think. IU was pre-ranked in the top 25 with the assumption of his leaving. He's a head scratching played, he came up big in the tourney tho but his wild style of playing certainly costed them a few games.
After the NBA, Romar played and coached for Athletes in Action. Romar was then hired as an assistant coach at UCLA under coach Jim Harrick from 1992 to 1996, and was credited with recruiting many of the players on the 1995 national championship team. Romar became the head coach at Pepperdine University and then at Saint Louis University before taking the job at the University of Washington in 2002.
Romar is credited for turning around the sagging fortunes of the University of Washington basketball program and generating new enthusiasm for the program. In 2004, Washington qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time in five years. In 2005, Washington won the Pac-10 Tournament and earned a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies made their way to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 1998 but were ousted by Louisville 93-79. In 2006, Washington earned a second consecutive appearance to the Sweet Sixteen before losing in overtime to Connecticut 98-92.
Romar is known by his fellow coaches as one of the top basketball recruiters in the country. Additionally, he is respected as a genuine and optimistic person and was once voted "the opposing coach players would most like to play for" in a Pac-10 poll.[1] In March 2006, Romar was given the prestigious Coach Wooden "Keys to Life" award for outstanding character.[1]
Seems like he is good at what he does. Still impressive that he got Fultz. Maybe Fultz is dumb and told him that DeMatha and UW are in the same state.

Personally, my favorite LB is Raekwon McMillan of Ohio State.
Tough to figure out if Cichy is a product of the system or not. He got a lot of free runs on Kessler because of the way the defense was designed.
Aranda was a damn genius. Huge loss there.
Either way, I believe he is just a RS Soph, and I doubt he'll leave early, so I wouldn't hold your breath on him.
Doesn't really matter though... the kid will probably be like all of Washington's other high-profile recruits and go pro or transfer after 1 or 2 years.
They are very close. They were in each other's weddings. He is Jr's godfather. I don't see anything shady about this.
Does hiring Porter Sr. help recruit the two Porter kids? Sure, but it also benefits everyone. Benefits the dad to be able to potentially coach his two songs. He gets to to a better program, and he gets to coach with one of his best friends.
Which would be fine with me, because then Porter might decide to join his best friend Kyle Guy in Charlottesville. I am so damned excited to see our freshmen next season. I expect some bumps in the road early in the season with all the turnover, but this might be the most talented Hoos roster since the Sampson days.
Pretty down on his pro prospects after his nice freshman year. He's not a pure PG at all and doesn't give much outside his shooting. Can see him staying all 4 of his years.
That's the word but apparently he's still waffling until the last minute.

BREAKING: Melo Trimble is returning to Maryland, sources told @CBSSports.
