Top 5 player on this team in terms of importance imo
Bases loaded, nobody out.....one run
Greg from LI : 5/25/2016 7:58 pm : link
Gah, that's aggravating.
Jays dodged a bullet
section125 : 5/25/2016 7:59 pm : link
only allowing 1 run after bases loaded and no outs.
squeezed a bit on a couple

pitches, then McCann blows the play. A bit of a tough hop, but should have had that.
Infield single, infield single, two run double by suckass Goins
Greg from LI : 5/25/2016 8:09 pm : link
Figures.
chase headley
B in ALB : 5/25/2016 8:36 pm : link
is hairy, watery, hemmoroid-riddled, asshole at baseball.
Russell Martin's season has made Headley look like Babe Ruth
Greg from LI : 5/25/2016 8:46 pm : link
So of course he hits a homer. Of course.

He had one XBH, a double, in 122 ABs before that.
bad night for Nova

getting cuffed around by the .160 club at the bottom of the Jays order. Oh and by the way if there has been a worse corner combo than Ackley-Headley started in a major league game the past 10 years you'd have a hard time convincing me. Yet Refsnyder rots away...
Can't beef about not getting much of Estrada
Stu11 : 5/25/2016 8:54 pm : link
the guy is really one of the more under rated pitchers in baseball the past 2 seasons. Everyone though last year was a fluke but his #'s have been even better so far this year. He's not overpowering but he knows how to pitch.
Somehow a 31 year old scrub journeyman just suddenly figured out how
Greg from LI : 5/25/2016 9:09 pm : link
to pitch

No Nova pitched well. What are you watching. Headley misplayed a dribbler, McCann botched the the throw home. TWo runs when he should have been out of the inning.

As Shreve is earning his release...
Bahahaha

Who didn't see Martin suddenly hitting well coming? Of course the sonofabitch magically starts crushing the ball the minute he faces the Yankees. Asshole.

I like Nova a lot and I am watching, but come on you can't get beat by Ryan Goins and Russel Martin. He had base runners all night. These guys are hitting .160 for a reason. The offense did him no favors but you have to pitch to the scoreboard sometimes.
Can't win them all. 6-1 in the last 7 is great though.

Great job Yankees.

Goins doesn't get an at bat if Headley doesn't boot the roller.
But sometimes the little guys get hits. He pitched good enough to win. Wasn't as good as the previous 6 games, but it wasn't Pineda or Severino.
Nova pitched well
Mike Graves : 5/26/2016 7:13 am : link
Against a good lineup, problem is the Yankee offense had bases loaded no outs and could only score one run of a ground out, this teams inability to hit with RISP is still a major problem,
I agree

Nova pitched well and thanks to butter fingered Chase Headely it could have been even better. Speaking of Chase and that would be Chasen Shreve how does this guy keep his job. From the second half of last year up to and including the first part of this season the guy is a gofer ball pitcher. It's like batting practice with this guy. Homerun derby if you will. And Joe just keeps putting out there. And to think they passed on Justin Wilson for this guy.
Jorge with a piece up on The Player's Tribune...

great, great read about how he caught pitchers and how they attacked different hitters.

Holder over .300 BA in low A. No power yet but really good sign for a guy with such a plus glove just starting out. Cave still hitting well at AAA. Acevedo hasn't pitched since May 2nd. That can't be good. What else is going on in Milb?
