ZGiants98 : 5/26/2016 10:02 am
Match-ups the this weekend

The pitching matchups:

Friday: RHP Jacob deGrom (3-1, 3.07) vs. LHP Alex Wood (1-3, 4.03), 7:10 p.m. ET, SNY

Saturday: RHP Noah Syndergaard (5-2, 1.94) vs. RHP Kenta Maeda (3-3, 3.29), 7:15 p.m. ET, FOX

Sunday: RHP Bartolo Colon (4-3, 3.44) vs. LHP Clayton Kershaw (7-1, 1.48), 8:08 p.m. ET, ESPN2

Is Matz our ace even over Syndergaard??

Cabrera departed Wednesday’s game before ever appearing because his back locked up. Cabrera suggested he would be fine to play Friday

Travis d'Arnaud (rotator cuff) resumed working out at the Mets’ Florida complex Wednesday after spending multiple weeks with his own physical therapist at home in California. D’Arnaud has resumed throwing without discomfort and should begin standard baseball activities Thursday, according to Ricco.

Dario Alvarez was claimed off waivers by the Braves. The left-handed reliever had been removed from the 40-man roster Monday when the Mets needed to create a spot for Ty Kelly.

The ex-Met Murphy has five errors this season, Davidoff notes in the Post.

Matz

has nearly been unhittable this season. It's really incredible to think he might be the best of the bunch when all is said and done, and barely scratching the surface.
Matz

is pitching like an all-star, if he keeps this up, TC might choose him, Thor, and Fam

are actually starting Julio Urias on Friday. He's maybe the best prospect in MLB and has been absolutely shredding AAA at 19 years old this year. Hopefully DeGrom can bring back some of that NLDS magic on Friday.
Who's not performing is Giolito in AA
ZGiants98 : 5/26/2016 10:46 am : link
He might not be the mid-season jolt they thought they were getting.
Flores should be back

This friday as our new first baseman
should be a tough series this weekend

Kershaw and Greinke baby!! Man, how great it would be if deGrom and Harvey can get it together between now and October.
So far so good
Chris684 : 5/26/2016 1:26 pm : link
There are concerns obviously:

Harvey and to a much lesser extent deGrom
Injuries/health at C/1B/3B

But I like where we are right now. On the bright side Matz, Thor, YC and Conforto are all looking really good and Sandy did a nice job with the middle infield.

I'd like to see Granderson pick it up alittle bit and it seems like he has.

As of right now we are 12-9 in the division and 3-3 against the Nats. I think we can definitely do better in the division overall even though Philly and Miami might be more respectable than we thought.

Here's to a strong close out of May and a big month of June, hopefully our last without Wheeler.

It's kind of crazy to think about.. if anyone told you before the season that an article like that would be written about two of the Mets pitchers and neither were Harvey or deGrom I think all of us would have been at least a little surprised.

Not that we didn't think very highly of Syndergaard or Matz.. but the way they've both now emerged has been pretty incredible. Thank god Matz' elbow is okay. I was really fucking bummed about the prospect of losing him. Fingers crossed things stay this way.
Non-Mets related
pjcas18 : 5/26/2016 1:37 pm : link
but Julio Urias called up to start for the Dodgers tomorrow at 19 years old.

Kid looks like a phenom (obviously?).

He was lighting up the PCL before his call-up.

I see that TDA has resumed throwing "without Pain" the other day. I would like to see him working out at 1B -- this is the perfect opportunity to see what he's got as a corner infielder. He couild really ease his way back to the big leagues by working his way up the minors at 1B.
I also forgot to mention

the most underrated part of this club so far which has been the lights out bullpen.

Excellent, excellent job from everyone so far including Familia converting his save opps and Verrett with some nice spot duty.
