I have seen hilarious bits and pieces of the show, never watched a full episode. just started it last night - found it to be a really funny show. lots of great lines already.
anyone else into it? does it hold up over a few seasons?
I'm not sure, because I can't speak for those without the tech background - some of the inside jokes are going to go right over their heads. But for the most part, it's extremely well written and acted, and the casting was perfect.
I think its the best comedy on right now and I love all the tech references. Before this current season of thrones (they are just crushin it) I said it was my favorite show on tv
I started last summer and got caught up with the first two seasons. Then went to school in the fall and rewatched the first two seasons again with my roommates. Now I have another friend who started watching and I'm watching some season 2 episodes again. IMO the firs 3-4 episodes of season 3 were the best so far. Fantastic show.
its hilarious. I'm not a tech guy either so some of the nuts and bolts of what they're trying to do is a bit Chinese to me, but the characters are great. the Bochman character especially (he's the guy in the shock top commercials) has some great lines.
also, Veep is also very good. some of the best trash talking lines I've ever heard.
a lot of the stuff is incompressible but does not matter that much to the enjoyment of the series. Had to google the terms appliance and box as used in this industry.
I loved the first 2 seasons, but this season is sort of boring to me.
I don't laugh out loud at it but, I am invested in these characters, particularly Richard. I root for him but, if he succeeds the show is over. I always make sure to catch the new episode as soon as possible. Jared, or Donald, is my favorite. More of him please.
In contrast, I laugh out loud at Veep but, I can wait to catch the next episode. Might miss a week or two before I catch up. It might have the greatest ensemble cast a comedy show has ever had but, the characters they play are dipshits, assholes or just plain unlikable. There's no one to root for. I love that Richard Splett character though. He looks like a moron, sounds like a moron even when he's finally useful to the Veep.
only minimal gripe is that erlich is starting to become a caricature
This, and I think the show is too short. Very clever humor. Plus it highlights a lot of points about running/expanding/investing in a business that you don't normally think about.
But the brevity of each episode resonates with me. It is painfully short. And the "never ending on a positive note" thing for me is growing tiresome.
in the middle of season 2 now, and was wondering whey they killed of Peter Gregory, and I found out that the actor who played him - Christopher Evan Welch - died of cancer after filming Season 1. What a shame - he was such a great character, I figured had to be some strange reason whey they killed him on the show.

That is a testament to how strong a show this is - Gregory was a central character (based largely off Peter Thiel), and was another example of fantastic casting. The show certainly felt his loss, but it kept on going. I'm saddened not only for his loss but for ours, because that character was only going to get better (just think of what they could do with the recent news that Thiel funded Hulk Hogan's lawsuit against Gawker).
It's on season 3 and still going strong.
best comedy since Curb Your Enthusiasm IMO.
