So i did search, and saw some old threads on this, but nothing recent.
Any opinions on these custom suits? I don't wear a suit often, but need a new one for those special occasions-weddings, interviews, etc, and indochino has a promotion through Kinja/Gawker that knocks their suit prices down below $400.
Thanks in advance.
The one foray I've had with Indochino was relatively positive; I bought a premium tuxedo through an Indochino flash sale which turned out fine after alterations. My tailor said that he typically sees these mail-order suits turn out horrible but acknowledged that mine was fine considering the allowance for alterations.
For daily suit wear I was referred to a traveling tailor that sources from Hong Kong and offers quality custom threads on a reasonable basis. The patriarch's son and daughter have joined the business and just recently launched a showroom (Suit Club) in NYC to expand their footprint. They might be worth checking out if you can spend a bit more and can wait 6-8 weeks.
I have a couple suits from MySuit that I'm happy with but I'm in the market for a new suit or two and a tuxedo. Any time I've purchased a suit fro a store like Men's Wearhouse or had one priced out from other stores, it ended up requiring major surgery because of my proportions.
I have spent many a lunch date with Mr. Greenfield at Peter Lugers. His picture is on the wall.
A terrific man and Tailor. I don't believe $400 will get you more than the two sleeves.
