NFT: indochino suits

odunde : 5/26/2016 2:18 pm
So i did search, and saw some old threads on this, but nothing recent.

Any opinions on these custom suits? I don't wear a suit often, but need a new one for those special occasions-weddings, interviews, etc, and indochino has a promotion through Kinja/Gawker that knocks their suit prices down below $400.

Thanks in advance.
I have a couple suits

from here and have been really happy. process is fairly simple.
Eh, for $400 or less you could do worse...

I'd argue that you're likely to get a better result through Indochino than by simply buying off of the rack at that price point or beyond, but keep your expectations reasonable.

The one foray I've had with Indochino was relatively positive; I bought a premium tuxedo through an Indochino flash sale which turned out fine after alterations. My tailor said that he typically sees these mail-order suits turn out horrible but acknowledged that mine was fine considering the allowance for alterations.

For daily suit wear I was referred to a traveling tailor that sources from Hong Kong and offers quality custom threads on a reasonable basis. The patriarch's son and daughter have joined the business and just recently launched a showroom (Suit Club) in NYC to expand their footprint. They might be worth checking out if you can spend a bit more and can wait 6-8 weeks.
there are many variables. what quality fabric?

80's to super 100's wool. will the suit be hand stitched or fused (glued together). will it have a floating chest piece etc etc. you get what you pay for as a general rule. do the research. take a trip to Brooks Brothers and have them show you the different qualities, some have 2 % Lycra for give and less wrinkles when traveling.
I was sent to the Suit Supply by a good friend who's tried them all

his opinion was that their suits are slightly better quality for about the same price. Can't say about indochino, but the SS suit was excellent.

It's very pricy, but I would hit up Martin Greenfield

I recently had a handmade suit completed, and am thrilled with how everything came out.

made to measure like indochino and mysuit or is it standard off-the-rack?

I have a couple suits from MySuit that I'm happy with but I'm in the market for a new suit or two and a tuxedo. Any time I've purchased a suit fro a store like Men's Wearhouse or had one priced out from other stores, it ended up requiring major surgery because of my proportions.

I have spent many a lunch date with Mr. Greenfield at Peter Lugers. His picture is on the wall.
A terrific man and Tailor. I don't believe $400 will get you more than the two sleeves.
Indochina?
