Yanks up 1-0 on a Castro HR. CC on the mound.
Teixeira out again, Romine at first base

Bum Teixera....

Encarnation with 2 rbis..
This team still sux, despite the winning streak.
yatqb : 5/26/2016 5:06 pm : link
We have a pretty awful middle of the lineup.
Shreve has a shoulder injury...
Dunedin81 : 5/26/2016 5:08 pm : link
went to the 15-day. Bleier is up, Ref is down. Not sure about the corresponding 40-man move.

CC is pitching well but Happ is owning us, for some reason.
Yup
illmatic : 5/26/2016 5:08 pm : link
I'm still surprised people didn't want ARod to come back just because they won a handful of games. The offense still sucks unless Gardner/Ellsbury are playing well.

Gotta win this series. Don't give the Blue Jays life again when they're playing like ass and the Yankees came into this series on a winning streak.
CC very efficient, 58 pitches over 5 innings against a good lineup.
yatqb : 5/26/2016 5:13 pm : link
Can we hit, though?
One major problem with us was just illustrated:
yatqb : 5/26/2016 5:14 pm : link
The shift kills left-hand dominant lineups.
Yea or nay
superspynyg : 5/26/2016 5:29 pm : link
We will be out of the playoff race by the trade deadline?

I say nay but we will not be that far off.
It all depends upon who's making the call.
yatqb : 5/26/2016 5:35 pm : link
I'd say we'd be 8 games or more out at that time...is that out of it?
Great start by Sabathia.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 5/26/2016 5:46 pm : link
It would suck to lose this game.
Seven strong from CC
mfsd : 5/26/2016 5:47 pm : link
He's been outstanding since his injury. 2 runs on 2 hits...would be a shame if we can't scrape a couple across here
Is it me or do the Yankees give up more hits through
shockeyisthebest8056 : 5/26/2016 6:05 pm : link
holes created by the shift than anyone?

I can't fucking stand it.
win or lose
RasputinPrime : 5/26/2016 6:05 pm : link
i'm loving what i'm seeing from CC.
Pretty tired of Teixera at this point
Kyle in NY : 5/26/2016 6:36 pm : link
There's always some injury. Between that and the complete refusal to adjust his approach since his first season here, he can't be gone fast enough as far as I'm concerned.

The Bird injury just sucks
Thank Didi
Mike Graves : 5/26/2016 6:37 pm : link
for this loss. his error in the 3rd kept the inning alive. CC pitched great. Didi and the lousy yankee offense are the goats today
Lame efforts
Kyle in NY : 5/26/2016 6:45 pm : link
after finally getting back to .500

blueblood'11 : 5/26/2016 6:56 pm : link
to Micheal Kay talk about what a great hitter Hicks is supposed to be from the right side against left handed pitchers. How about giving Refsnyder those at bats. This guy sucks. He really does.

Of course Refsnyder as usual comes up and gets a big hit only to be sent back down and all the while we have to watch this cast off from the Twins who supposedly had all this potential and kept getting sent back down because he was a head case and did shit.

So what's the difference with the Yankees. You have a kid toiling in your system and somehow this chump gets the benefit of the doubt because you traded for him and his potential he never reached with the twins. This is a classic reason why the Yankees will continue to spin their wheels. Why does this guy get to stay when he does shit and your own farm hand has to take a back seat. Oh yeah it's theYankee way.

agreed,
Hicks doesn't bother me as much as Ackley does...
Dunedin81 : 5/26/2016 7:04 pm : link
He is a below replacement level player.
The Refsnyder thing bothers me
Kyle in NY : 5/26/2016 7:07 pm : link
But it's more that a proven terrible player like Ackley sticks around while he goes down. Hicks has some tools and is still pretty young. I don't mind him getting an extended chance to see if he's a useful piece moving forward.

But he's gotta start hitting

Hicks has a slider-speed bat a la Kevin Maas. He's nothing. A very good athlete with a great arm, who gets a lousy read on the ball in the outfield. Refsnyder should be playing full time.
ref needs to
Dankbeerman : 5/26/2016 8:21 pm : link
learn how to play first to bump ackley.
Heathcott's released...
Dunedin81 : 5/26/2016 9:38 pm : link
Apparently they don't intend to resign him. Absent a personal issue I assume it's just a numbers game.
Ackley
chopperhatch : 5/26/2016 10:21 pm : link
Became much more of a prevalent player with the injury of Bird. He was acquired as insurance for Beltran in RF and Tex at 1B. He can play pretty much any position. He's pretty much the John Jerry of the Yankees. If they could avoid having him play every day they would I'm sure. But with no Bird and Refsnyder apparently not being able to play the position, Ackley is the default option.

Btw, it boggles my mind that an All Star at SS and 3B can't learn 1B. I'm referring to A Rod. If David Ortiz and Jason Giambi can be serviceable at 1st how .

He played well last year in the very little games he played, and was 10-25 and had a huge 3 run homer in Tampa late in the year to put the Yankees ahead, this kid was never given a chance here. But they continue to trott garbage like Hicks and Ackley in the outfield. Very frustrating how this team handles their prospects.
Was Heathcott
BIG FRED 1973 : 5/27/2016 8:01 am : link
that bad in Scranton this year ? I will not go to games till they make an effort to play the young kids .Refsynder was up here a week and only played in 1 game and he played well in that game and then did not play again I just don't understand it .They should have at least started him last sunday too .I will continue to watch every game but I will not waste money going to the ballpark until guys like judge and Refsynder are up here for good and wastes like Ackley are gone .And shame on Cashman for not getting a first basemen once Bird was hurt ,we all knew Tex would be hurt at some point this year .Don't understand that either .
Heathcott has been hurt...
Dunedin81 : 5/27/2016 8:20 am : link
Hadn't played in 3 weeks. I like the kid, good redemption story (struggled with booze and anger, had a flat-out awful upbringing, really seemed to turn it around the last few years), but I think his fate was sealed when they had to add Ben Gamel to the 40-man a couple weeks ago. He, Mason Williams, Gamel, Cave and Fowler have relatively similar skillsets, and those skillsets (handedness notwithstanding) are similar to Ellsbury and Gardner. Throw in Aaron Judge and what do you realistically do?

Jake Cave has been killing it at AAA since Heathcott got hurt, he's younger than Heathcott, and he has played four straight full seasons (had a knee injury but it was back in 2012). How do you send him back to AA or to the bench? The real problem for Heathcott is that with his health woes he has been overtaken as a prospect.
Thanks
BIG FRED 1973 : 5/27/2016 8:35 am : link
Dunedin81 makes sense why they would let him go .Going to Tampa in a few weeks so iam hoping to check out a Tampa Yankees game .Love that ballpark
I have tons of issues with how they're dealing with the kids...
Dunedin81 : 5/27/2016 8:43 am : link
keeping Ackley and demoting Refsnyder was just dumb, IMO. Granted I think Ref would have gotten more chances had Headley not snapped out of his funk, but he still had almost no opportunity.
So..
FatMan in Charlotte : 5/27/2016 8:46 am : link

and wondering how you project high school kids period, I'd rather have the 3B the Mets want. The Yankees need a 3B and I trust the guys picking for the Mets much more than the Yankees.
