NFT: Question about painting patio furniture

DC Gmen Fan : 5/26/2016 6:24 pm
So I recently primed and painted some old metal patio furniture using Rust-o-leum stops rust green paint. A day later as I'm moving it I lightly bumped it against a wall and the green paint peeled (nicked) off showing the white primer underneath. I'm wondering if the paint is weak or if it just needs more time to dry. I'm hoping its more durable than that since I will be stacking these chairs, moving them around, putting stuff on them, etc. Is it just a matter of drying more or is there something I should apply to the outside to protect it?

Thanks BBI
Maybe needs more time.

I used the old formula Rustoleum on the frame and suspension parts on my 1955 Chrysler C300 back in 1985. Still near perfect. But it did dry for a long time.
I have a couple of powder coating places near me. They sandblast and then apply the powder coat. Did some lattice metal chairs and a small outdoor table for me 5 or 7 years ago. I think that I paid around $60, could have been less. Still look new. Let your paint dry for awhile longer and see if its good. Lots of colors including clear available in Powder.
Thanks

I will see what a couple more days of drying does

dry to the touch does not equal fully cured..

If you're beyond the fully cured time frame....test it.

You should be able to bump the chair into something without chipping. If it still chips, call the number on the can and ask them for suggestions
