I'm running the Philadelphia Half Marathon on September 18th and am planning on catching the game vs. New Orleans in Philly before flying home Monday morning.
Johnny Utah's was "the Philly bar", and I went for the opener against Detroit. It was empty.
However if you would like to meet up to watch the game, there are a couple of good places. Is that game a prime time game or "just regular"? If just regular, King's Oak in Northern Libs has all the games, but defers to the Philly game for sound. But they're playing Monday Night so we could prob get the main screen for the Giants.
But the best option (only works if Philly has the Gmen broadcast, which they usually do) is the Blind Pig in Northern Liberties. Nice, nice spot right on 2nd st. I'm friends with everybody who works there. My good buddy Patrick is usually there all day and if we could organize a decent group to go there, would probably give us volume of music.
Plus their food is AWESOME! (they fry their wings in bacon fat!)
Oh, I like the Pig alright! I just forget her name!
Is that your old joint?
Old joint.....as in where I've worked? No way! It's just a gastropub....bar with great food. It's one of my favorite bars in Philly. I used to live above it. I spend many Sundays there when the Giants and Birds are on TV. I've spent the last three Eagles/Giants games there. Classy crowd. Patrick the Bartender is a funny guy and loves a lively crowd. The only trick is getting him to shut off good tunes (not the disco biscuits) in favor of non Eagles game. If I told him I was bringing a group, he would oblige. We would be welcometocheer as much as we want there
No offense to you, but GTFO with those places. Might as well go to Buffalo wild wings
Hey I didn't say they were great, I just said you could watch a game there. Most bars in Philly won't show Giants games unless they're a Buff WW type of place and have every game on at once.
watching that last second win against the 49ers this year
at racine plumbing (all giants bar) in Chicago was one of the most fun experiences for me. I had just run the marathon and strangers were jumping all over me with excitement after the win. legs almost gave out.

Ummm....okaaaaaaay, yea that's just not true.
Unless you're in some townie part of South Philly, Port Richmond or NE Philly, I guarantee you you can get the Giants game on TV and not be bothered. Around the stadium you might have a problem, but you obviously haven't been to much of Philly if you really believe that.
I live in philly but had to be in Chicago the night of the nfc championship in 2008. Found Racine plumbing and had one of the most fun experiences watching a game ever. There's no spot like that in philly. Last year some people tried to start up a thing at the new city tap house downtown (old public house) including reserving the back room. I went once and it wasn't a great turnout. I'd love to try to get something working in philly for games

How do Giants' bars in Philly don't get hassled/raided by Eagle fan Cops looking to break balls .... or firebombed with Molotov Cocktails by anyone?
These bars have to be low profile/underground right? I mean it is Philly! Probably need a password to get in ....
Are Lehigh Valleyers not "Philly" enough!?!?
