NEW YORK -- The Mets made a quick move to plug the hole left by injured first baseman Lucas Duda on Saturday, acquiring veteran James Loney from the Padres for cash considerations. Loney figures to become the Mets' primary first baseman until Duda returns from the disabled list, which is not expected until late June at the earliest. |
#Mets expect to play without Jeurys Familia tonight. He's most likely unavailable after his lengthy outing last night.
David Wright is out of the #Mets' lineup tonight with a stiff neck. Team says it's unrelated to his back.
I [heart] NY
I bet a Loney/Flores platoon is just as good or better than Duda.
Granderson RF
Cabrera SS
Conforto LF
Cespedes CF
Walker 2B
Campbell 1B
Kelly 3B
Rivera C
Syndergaard P
Interesting to hear Doc Gooden being asked about Syndergaard. 3 years ago, people were asking him about Harvey #thingschange
Baseball sucks.
What a dumbass umpire.
It sucks that hockey is close to ending. It's the only sport that has balls anymore
What a dumbass umpire.
I think this is a case of "don't shoot the messenger ". Hes following his orders.

Yup, Clueless Joe. Most overrated manager in the history of baseball.
I hope we put up 10 runs now.
Lol, can you imagine??
And I have no clue if Harvey is still partying...just glad Noah is so damned focused and mean.
Seriously??
Way to make a name for yourself cockbag
warning is only right call not an ejection. After all Utley got no suspension-Then again Torre saw no issue with Clemens hitting Piazza

Or just a high and tight fb
Again I don't like the guy, never have but I respect the way he conducts himself.

I see no reason whatsoever to not bean him and actually hit him this time. Noah did the guy a favor by missing him and he just laughs it up by hitting fastballs down the middle. His "winning" just should draw him a real fastball that really hits him.
De Aza just a flat out awful signing. They must have just looked at his numbers and calculated he would regress to the mean. They definitely did not watch how he played last year in SF. Sucks at the plate and in the field. And gives no effort.
Bastardo. No control. But the the thing that gets me is you had 4 LOOGYs on the 40 man roster at AAA: Edgin, Gilmartin, Smoker and Alvarez. We saw Gilmartin last year. He is better than Bastardo. Why waste 12 million dollars on a position where you have so many guys at AAA? In addition to sucking, Bastardo is clogging the pipeline and causing guys like Alvarez to be lost.

I hope NY fans ride the shot out of this ump the rest of the year.

Agreed.
With Kershaw pitching, there is little chance the Mets win anyways.
Shortly after that, Tejada himself was injured, leading to Jedd Gyorko starting at short on Opening Day for St. Louis. With Gyorko disappointing, Aledmys Diaz took over, and he's played like an All-Star, as he currently sports a .918 OPS on the season. With Peralta now playing in rehab games, Tejada's spot on the big-league roster was already tenuous.
Tejada was the Mets' starting shortstop in the first two games of the NLDS last year but was famously injured on a takeout slide from Dodgers by Chase Utley. The slide led to a rule change around takeout slides and folk hero status for Tejada, who received a standing ovation at Citi Field for Game 3."

Kick the tire? Bye bye Campbell and Kelly - ( New Window )
If he knew he was going to get tossed, absolutely. It was definitely a purpose pitch but no way warranted an ejection. Wasn't near his head. Just unbelievable to toss him. Totally fucked us. And Utley wins again. Complete disgrace.
Is the offense sleepwalking or just not that good?
Sandy loaded up with LH pull hitters and they are getting killed by the shift. So many hard hit groundballs that would normally be hits, are turned into outs. And second-rate pitchers are shutting the Mets down by constantly pitching inside to LH hitters, so they have to pull.
Mets are #1 in the Beane Count, so this is a Moneyball lineup in an era where that philosophy does not appear to be working. All the good offenses hit for average these days.
