Tejada DFA'ed

"e Cardinals have designated Ruben Tejada for assignment in order to make room on their roster Matt Carpenter. Tejada, who was with the Mets from 2010 to 2015, was cut by the Mets during spring training despite being tendered a contract earlier in the offseason. The Cardinals then signed him to a one-year deal to replace their injured shortstop Jhonny Peralta.
Shortly after that, Tejada himself was injured, leading to Jedd Gyorko starting at short on Opening Day for St. Louis. With Gyorko disappointing, Aledmys Diaz took over, and he's played like an All-Star, as he currently sports a .918 OPS on the season. With Peralta now playing in rehab games, Tejada's spot on the big-league roster was already tenuous.
Tejada was the Mets' starting shortstop in the first two games of the NLDS last year but was famously injured on a takeout slide from Dodgers by Chase Utley. The slide led to a rule change around takeout slides and folk hero status for Tejada, who received a standing ovation at Citi Field for Game 3."

"With Terry Collins in line to manage the All-Star Game for the first time in his career, he knows he likely will have some tough choices to make mostly surrounding his starting rotation.
Ive already had a lot of people ask me how many of my own pitchers Im taking, Collins said. And thats an honor to think I have that kind of staff that they all have to be thought of and I will think about them. Wilmer Flores could return to the team Sunday from his minor league rehab stint from a tight hamstring.'"
TC should take Noah, Steven, Bartolo and Jacob to the ASG, along with Jeurys! I expect Cespedes to get voted in as a starting OF

Colon is having a good season but he shouldn't be in the ASG. There is quite a few more deserving SP's in the NL.
"The second time through the order, we're seeing things he's doing that are keeping him from having the ability to make the pitches he needs to make," Collins said. "We're seeing a velocity drop, and there is a reason for that. We're seeing a lack of a feel for his breaking ball."

The @Mets will love @theloney_s a real PRO / line drive hitter & a gold glove / limited power / solid teammate
Most teams don't have much interest in 1B who averages 9 HR per year or whatever it is. But Mets need a contact hitter more than they need another HR hitter. They are loaded with power.
Plus, his defensive will be a big positive. To be honest, with this lineup, I don't think a Loney/Flores is much of a downgrade from Duda--especially this year's Duda.

Time to move on with Utley. He seems to thrive on this attention.
I'd like to make sure this is not done. THey likely will. But i'd just wait until eh was sure it was done and then make sure he realized it was not. Mainly because of the homers. The bad ejection was bad enough but the homers...still needs to pay
was one of the worst hitters in baseball but he absolutely is better than Campbell. So at least there is that. No brainer move but he's likely AAA cannon fodder at this point in his career. Maybe he surprises.
and shifted to Walker to first and promoted Herrera or maybe tried Conforto at 1B to get Lagares more play. I do agree its a bit of a stretch with Conforto though. I don't think he's played the infield since high school.

You're right I think the better move would be to move Conforto to 1B which would strengthen the defense in both CF and LF with Cespedes moving to LF and Lagares starting in center. I am a little surprised that they aren't planning on playing TDA at first while he rehabs because he is a liability behind the plate.

Suggest you check his "vs. RHP" stats since that probably what he'll be hitting against virtually all the time.

VS right-handed hitters in 2015 he put up a sweet wRC+ of 97. He's also been been a hair above league average his entire career offensively including his "glory days". Worst.. his defense has deteriorated over the last two years to where he's actually a liability in the field. Don't want to piss anyone's cheerios but he is a very ordinary player at best. There's a reason he's been playing in AAA.
That lineup is awful. I never thought we'd see a "June 2015" lineup again but my God if we aren't close. Cespedes has quietly been 0-his last few games as well. We better PRAY he isn't about to go on a cold streak.
This is easily a wave the white flag game. lol. Give me my Loss so I can watch Game of Thrones in peace.

By the same token there's a reason Soup is playing for the Mets.
Which is why I prefaced my original comment with "anybody is better than Campbell". Upgrading to Loney from Campbell however isn't all that encouraging IMO though. Literally any player on this entire earth would be an upgrade over Campbell. In order to get Loney we will have to DFA somebody and Im praying its Campbell and somebody takes him. Im over it.

The idea that you can take an OF who has never played first base and just convert him to 1B at the major league level is assinine. That is not the solution for this problem. Please stop with that nonsense.
Is James Loney coming from SD by boat or bicycle?

The Mets lineup vs. Kerhsaw tonight:
5-for-64, 0 RBI, 17 K.
Not a single Mets player in their lineup tonight has a career RBI vs. Kershaw.
Hits vs. Kershaw in his last 3 outings: 2, 4,3. The three was first time he faced the Mets. So is 3 hits the over/under tonight?
