Terry Collins said wanted to get De Aza a start against former team
Terry just can't help but make moronic decisions. He's going to sit the much much better lefty (Conforto) and the surging other lefty (Granderson) just so he could get an awful lefty (De Aza) a start against his former team? Da fuq?
Good god, please get this Elmer Fudd moron of a manager out of a Mets uniform.

Haha I was thinking the same exact thing.
In yesterday's "wuss world" ...
The loss could easily have been pinned on Gil, who had perhaps the worst World Series ever for a player of his caliber. He went hitless in 21 at-bats, with six strikeouts. Instead of vilifying Gil, however, Brooklyn fans sent hundreds of gifts, good luck charms and supportive letters during the slump. When he came to bat, he received standing ovations.
Very good 6 innings, only 70 pitches.. if he can get us through 7 I'll be thrilled. If he gets them in short order, he'll see the 8th too. Won't get ahead of myself, though.

To be fair, "Terry Collins said stayed away from playing Michael Conforto bc of how tough Quintana is on lefties" and he also sat Grandy and put in de Aza, who is a lefty.

again. Under the radar of course but puts Walker in that cleanup spot. Boom. Didn't pull Harv from rotation. Gave him one more shot...boom. Confidence builder. Nice game for the NL All Star manager. Pushes the right buttons and the team plays for him 100% every game

Don't mind him...he's just a shit stirrer.
I barely post.
You want to fire the manager after every loss.
Yet, every time you do post you stir the pot.
And I haven't bitched about Terry the entire season except for maybe 2 or 3 posts during the Dodger series.
So...you are wrong. What a shocker. Nice try though.
So, they've only lost two games this season? Huh, concrete logic you have there. Then again, this is coming from the guy who gets on my case when I complain about Terry only to then turn around and agree with what I was complaining about. You really are a special type of stupid. Maybe you should go back to "barely posting."
It's hard to expect the guy to ever get into any sort of rhythm. We could do worse for a 5th OFer... we had worse players than him starting last year pretty regularly.
I'm assuming Wilmer will get the majority of the starts at 3B in the meantime and Loney will be manning 1B for a while but we should really send Campbell down and call up Rivera to mix in at 1B/3B with Flo and Loney. Campbell is absolutely atrocious.
But Kelly is probably going to be the one to go down, right? Â
It's hard to expect the guy to ever get into any sort of rhythm. We could do worse for a 5th OFer... we had worse players than him starting last year pretty regularly.
if they send down/release de Aza? Kelly has played considerable games in the OF ... LF (133), RF (44) and even some CF (14). Plus he's toyed around with 1B, (3) games this year. Plus he's a switch hitter. I think it's Campbell or de Aza who goes.
It was absolutely moronic to play him against a lefty today but some of you guys are WAY to hard on him. He had 40 something abats coming in today. He's getting a start once every 2 weeks if he's lucky. He's the problem? Seriously? We have had no injuries in the OF and Lagares who has also been very good is fighting for playing time as it is? De Aza essentially is last year's Kirk as the 5th OF. It's not a big deal.
I am praying Campbell gets DFA for Loney tomorrow. We need a roster spot and Im hoping Campbell is it. DL Wright. Call up Herrera. Move Walker to 3B. Best we can do for now. TJ Rivera is a bit of a dark horse but I don't want him up and riding the pine. Kelly is versatile, switch hitter. He can stay for a little longer.
He was hitting 97 mph in the 6th and 7th. I am ecstatic. I need to see a lot more before I pronounce him "back" but this was as good as Harvey is ever going to look period. This was "A Harvey". Combined with deGrom's excellent start Friday (also high velocity throughout the entire game) I am very happy about our rotation right now.
Just keep it up Harvey. Before we know it Wheeler is going to be joining the party also.
is that Sandy doesn't want to demote him because he is afraid another team will claim him, whereas Mets fans would almost universally rejoice if he were claimed by another team.
I actually like Campbell but when you are a part-time player you have to produce when you get the opportunity. Campbell just hasn't--although neither have any of the other backups.
Two seasons now he has sucked ass. What other back up options have played? I guess Flores but he's been out himself and has a decent track record from last year. Kelly and his 12 at bats?? Campbell has got to go.
The catcher situation is still killing us. We need TDA back in the worst way. He might not be the best solution but we are in deep shit right now. We are basically missing three wRC+ 130 type bats from the lineup at once from last year. Loney is a league average-ish bat at best. Unless we call up Herrera Flores isn't going to give you much more than leave average at 3B. And then we have a black hole at C. Bleh.
Put Flores at 3rd and stick with him. You may have your 3rd b of the present and the future. If it turns out you don't, well you had to find that out anyway.
Put Flores at 3rd and stick with him. You may have your 3rd b of the present and the future. If it turns out you don't, well you had to find that out anyway.
Always figured that Flores was going to be an important piece this year. He will get back to getting regular at bats with Wright out now. Time to get back in a groove.
yesterday and got into it with a guy sitting behind me who ripped on Harvey and Familia the entire game. It would've been comical if it wasn't so annoying. I was cheering extra hard as Harvey mowed down the Chi Sox and this guy got quieter. He then started piping up again when Familia came out. It seemed like he was rooting for a meltdown even though he was dressed in Mets gear.
clearly on display. Any time Harvey showed even the SLIGHTEST dismay, Rivera was out there to calm him down. He called a great game and kept Harvey on an even keel. That doesn't happen with d'UNNO in there. Plawecki might be a better game caller than d'UNNO, but I doubt he would be the calming influence that Rivera was either.
Someone called Francesa a few weeks back and suggested the Mets make a play for Carlos Ruiz from the Phillies. Now that they're coming back to earth, might not be a bad idea. He's a great defensive catcher, and the chance to win could rejuvenate him. And Plawecki could go to Triple A and play every day.
Any better than Rene Rivera? The guy has been awful offensively for two years now, is 37, and likely isn't even close to as good defensively either. We already have a all defense vet who cant hit. Give me the offensive complement and for now that's TDA.
Plawecki can be sent to Siberia for all I care at this point. I just want him gone.

Maybe not, but with dunno constantly hurt you need 3 catchers. And I still think it's more important with this young staff to have a catcher who the pitcher has confidence enough to bounce a curve in the dirt knowing it will be blocked in a big spot than dunno's bat. He's a horrid catcher

What evidence do you have that TDA can't call a good game? I seem to remember our pitchers pitching pretty well last year. He frames well(one of the best around). and has eliminated his passed ball issue from years ago. His throwing and his shoulder "might" be an issue but that remains to be seen. I agree his injuries make him no longer reliable but when he does come back he'll clearly be the best option. I also dont think we can carry 3 catchers so our best bet is to hope Plawecki restores some confidence in the minors. Im not holding out much hope there anymore though.
My eyes. More for his physical defensive issues than baseball IQ Â
obviously. He hasn't shown the ability to be a consistently reliable defensive catcher. Mainly due to time missed due to his injuries, he doesn't have the experience to talk a guy off the ledge.
