And why? Eric, I might have saved you a thread..:)
In order, as I remember, some of the good to great ones
1-Don Chandler
2-Dave Jennings
3-Tom Blanchard
4-Sean Landeta
5-Jeff Feagles
6-Steve Weatherford
For some reason I think I'm leaving out someone(s), but nothing is coming up for me. Anywho, feel free to add
I think Jennings and Landeta were more gifted punters, but imho, I believe Feagles was the most clutch. Obviously much of this is subjective, but I'll go with Feagles
Dodge.....( my pick for best )
Agree, but I'm biased since we were friends as kids. He loved to punt as a kid. He grew up next to the Adelphi U campus, which had open fields at that time, and he would come home from school and punt even if no one else was there to receive them.
Little known fact - Tom Landry averaged 40.4 yards per punt on 338 punts for the Giants in 1950-55.

Wow, don't even recall Landry Punting. Granted, I started following in '56, but I should still know facts such as those..
When we had nobody...and I mean nobody, we had Jennings. For years, he was the only Pro Bowler on the team. Consistently booming punts in the Meadowlands, and trying (in vain) to keep the Giants in the game.
Nobody comes close...
If you just look at stats, Weatherford. Of Giants punters with at least 300 punts, he has both the highest average (46.3 ypp) and the lowest percentage blocked (only 1 in 311). But Jennings and Feagles had their clutch moments for sure.

Agree with that and didn't mean to suggest otherwise by mentioning Weatherford's stats. Dave was on some lousy teams and constantly had to punt under pressure.
But I have to say, I think Landetta was really outstanding, too, especially with Reyna Thompson as a gunner. The two of them were real field position changers.
Thing is, if Ray Guy had never lived, Dave Jennings would be in the HOF.
the others, I subscribe to Parcells theory on kickers, punters should be seen and not heard.
Landetta was just remarkable. Firing spiraling lasers into the wind.
LT: "I can't believe I'm saying this, but a punter won us that game."

Re Williams, the next day was 9/11...😪
He punted 14 times in a single game vs. the Lions in '43.

Years ago, Landry was a decent punter but nobody touched Sammy Baugh in those days.
That was the '87 Championship game in the Meadowlands and
you can can get that game in the DVD box set of the 10 greatest Giants games, available in the store here through Amazon. It is the remastered broadcast of that entire game. Just an FYI :-)
But as others said, Jennings was pretty much all the Giants had for many lean years in the late 1970s to early 1980s, until the cavalry (ie- LT) arrived.

He's my favorite too, in part because he played college football in my hometown.
No its not sentimental, at least for me Greg. He was an excellent football player as a punter. I sat thru many a game in the Meadowlands watching our pathetic offense try to move the ball only to have Jennings come in on 4th down and really keep the other team honest with his superb punting. We lost a lot of those games but Jennings was responsible as anyone for keeping them reasonable close for 3 qtrs. So many of us fans back then mentioned that he was the best "weapon" we had on the team.
Landeta was very good as well but I think gets more accolades because people remember the good Giant teams of the 1980s.
" On Monday, the Giants trimmed their roster to 51 by cutting eight players. Asked today why he hadn't announced Jennings's cut along with those others, Coach Bill Parcells, his voiced choked with emotion, said quietly, ''I don't know why.''
After a lengthy pause he added: ''I didn't want to put him in a group with those other guys, because he's not. We're talking about about one of the best guys who ever kicked.''
Parcells called the move ''the most difficult cut I've had to make as a head coach,'' and added, ''This is one of those days when you wish you were in another line of work.''

Jennings had incredible hang time on his punts. He didn't just punt for distance, they were booming punts in height. Unlike other punters (except Ray Guy), Jennings never had to worry about out kicking his coverage because his hang time was so incredible. Landetta was a great punter for the Giants but he wasn't close to Dave Jennings imo. As I said before, Dave Jennings would be in the HOF if it wasn't for Ray Guy.
