@AdamSchefter
After trade talks with Giants fell through, Ravens released OT Eugene Monroe, per sources. Now free agent. NYG, SD, SEA could have interest.
isn't anything better than nothing? If trade talks fell through then does that mean the Giants were not willing to give up anything for him? Because even a conditional 7th rounder would have been better than straight out releasing him, right?

They may have asked for more. Still doesn't address why they'd release him for nothing

Exactly, if you want more and don't get it, isn't it better to accept something instead of simply releasing him for nothing? Only thing that makes sense is that the Giants pulled whatever they originally offered.

Maybe the Giants were only offering a bag of balls and an autographed helment
Tough call here. Quality player when healthy, but has only played a full season once and has missed a ton of time the last two years. It really comes down to cost (especially guarantees) and fit - since he has primarily played left tackle.
I wouldn't have figured the Giants would take a chance on
a player who fancies himself a political activist for legalizing pot. Surprised to hear there's legit interest there.
As I said yesterday, he's not a guy who got busted for pot. He is trying to make a case to the NFL for allowing it to help with injuries. He's not being a troublemaker or rebellious, rather his approach seems quite mature and is being offered through the proper channels..I don't think this would be a problem for the Giants at all, imv

He's 29 and a 7 year vet..No waivers

The #Ravens are releasing OT Eugene Monroe, source said. He couldn't reach an agreement on salary. Keep an eye on the #Giants....

That's interesting. Giants probably were only willing to trade if they could agree on a restructured contract. Makes more sense now.
No, because I believe he said it was a west coast thing(implying Davis I believe)and the poster wasn't an asshat just a previously banned troll.
That's what I was thinking. Maybe he wasn't as bad as we all thought.

Am told there's "definitely a possibility" of OT Eugene Monroe-NYG union. @AdamSchefter reported NYG-BAL trade talks before Monroe released.
Over Marshall Newhouse? Yes.
Lol no. Try Flowers-Pugh-Richburg-Jerry-Monroe
Seriously??
Source: Giants didn't want to trade an asset AND take on Eugene Monroe's contract. Will have interest once he's cut.
Still had 3 years at $20 million left
2016 - $6.5 million
2017 - $6.75 million
2018 - $6.75 million
Maybe Giants didn't trade for him because they felt they could negotiate a better contract when he became a free agent?

Yep, as we thought. Only thing that made sense.

I'm glad to see the giants don't view Marshall Newhouse as a starter, because he isn't one. He is good depth.

I think thats it. No harm in taking a look see. We could use the depth anyway.
