I don't get the sense there is a lot of excitement about the upcoming season around here. Or is there excitement and most people are reserving judgement until camp and the preseason?
I haven't seen a lot of posts such as "I can't wait for the season to start!"
So I'll go with 7.
Eli gets some MVP talk with 40+ TDs.
Giants defensive turnaround one of the stories of the NFL in 2016.
I expect JPP to play his ass off, make many impact plays, and be one of the best stories in sports in 2016.
Collins makes a huge jump and benefits from playing close to the LOS and in more 3 S sets.
Giants win 12 and make a playoff run.
Because of this excellent run I'm able to convince my youngest boy to drop the Steelers as his #1 team.
Yup, I'm excited about this season.
Especially with the prospect of seeing a lot of new faces on the field (as starters) - both rookies and Free Agents
The Jets proved, last year, that with the right influx of FAs, you can turn your fortunes around in one year. We can do the same.
Last year, with an under-manned roster, we took both the Pats and Carolina to the wire, and lost a bunch of other close ones. The roster is significantly improved.
Just as importantly, the sideline is improved. I don't think we'll see the 4th quarter indecision and paralysis that was the curse of 2015.
Of course, injuries tend to derail everything.
And we have the most exciting player in the league on our side.
As for football itself, the NFL doesn't excite me the way it used to. The Giants should be better than they have been the last few years, but I don't know if they'll be great. They'll probably look great one week, then horrible the next week. Then good a couple weeks, then horrible the next couple weeks.
Actually, that's most NFL teams these days.
I’m with “grizz299”, who ever the hell a 60 year fan is. He hit the nail on the head, as many others here have. I’m a 53 year fan. I remember the end of Y.A., Frank, Del, and Huff. Cleveland’s Championship Sunday night, and all the 1964 Browns references reminded me, as a 10 year old, of watching Jim Brown ripping us apart as badly as our run D was last year.
I remember nothing to cheer about except Tarkenton scrambling and finding Homer Jones until Simms, Parcells, and LT showed up in the early 80’s.
Step one, we made it through OTA’s in the best shape injury wise in what, 4… 5 years?
Eli and Odell are the best players at their positions we have had in 50 years.
We had a great free agency, and initial great reviews of our draft. If Eli gets a bonafide weapon out of Shephard, and God forbid if Victor really makes it back, we are the new “best show on turf”.
I have hope our ball hawk rookie safety, Thompson, will solidify the back 4. And that Paul Perkins, can break Jerry’s streak of not hitting in later rounds.
I’m as optimistic as I have been in years!
But.....
deep down, if VC is a go, I will be truly excited.
Pick up an extra tackle.....as they are razor thin.
Stay healthy
Continue to gel
Go Giants!
With the roster as currently constituted we should be competitive for the East and/or a lesser Wild Card.
If we can fortify the ROL with a legitimate talent upgrade before camp maybe we can make some noise in the tournament.
OK, I'm a traditionalist. I liked football the old way. Blocking and tackling. Defense. Televised games where commercials didn't interrupt the flow of the action. Televised games where you didn't miss plays because the network wasn't cramming in one more promo for some shitty show that I will never, ever watch.
I've been a big NFL fan for decades, but they are slowly and surely losing me as a fan. I watch less football every season, and now actually prefer to watch CFL games over NFL games.
I also don't believe that the GIANTS will win another Championship until Reese and Ross are gone. And unfortunately that will be after Eli is long gone, too.
Tired

I think our injuries will go way down this year
and therefore our team will have much better personnel on the field
which will translate to wins
my secret wish
is to finally have a gaudy regular record
We are witnessing the beginning of a new era in New York Giants Football. One which may encompass the most prolific Offense in the history of the franchise. More importantly we will witness as the Phoenix, the rebirth of the Big Blue Wrecking Crew. We need not fear the youth that abounds the roster, rather embrace the uniform maturity.
One thing I will caution is the allegiance to roster veterans, because performance will dictate rather then term of service. For example many believe that Donnell may be a lock but, I offer the opinion that only Adams is a lock with all others earning their roster spots. The fact that LaCosse has been running with the first team is of note. Malleck has also flashed, that may mean the determining factor may be run blocking.
The WR corps may have as many as 4 new members from last years squad. All who doubt Cruz are in for a big surprise and Shepard is lightening in a bottle. Lewis, Powe and Dable have all caught the coaches attention. Even more important is coach Adam Henry, who has developed such talents as Beckham and Landry while at LSU. Davis may be talented but if he doesn't contribute on specials he won't make the final 53.
With the LB corps the same holds true, Brinkley is being projected as the Mike starter because he was here last year. Don't sit on Sheppard who is more diverse, and if Goodson continues to impress Brinkley may lose out. The same goes for Casillas and Thomas, its all about performance.
Same goes for the secondary, where some express the past mantra that you need have a veteran presence at the expense of youthful talent. I offer that a new mindset needs to be cultivated. One commensurate with the new brain trust and its ideology, in order to anticipate the formulation of 2016 active roster.
Therefore maybe we may see an addition to the OL but WR, FS, CB give it a rest; talented players will not make the final 53 as it stands. The secondary with health may surpass when Kinard, Collins and Sparks roamed the back of the Defense.
All this points to energized intensive competitive training camp, with few gimme's. Such an environment creates excitement. Also on a historical note, what happened the last time big brother won a Super Bowl and how unlikely were those events. Deja Vous, anybody?
roster turnover .
This maybe Reece's best Year ever in the way we drafted and
didn't Keep Prince and shoring the middle up .
I just think there will be so many new contributors this season it will be like no other .....
10-6 Division Champs....!!!!
Gotta agree with ya, Mike.
At June 21, the vibe feels good, man.
The O line should sure itself up and with our WCO Eli and OBJ should shine yet again. The big if here is Cruz, I have a good feeling about Shepard. If we can open up a few holes for our running game we will be tough to beat. The TE should improve too.
I'm psyched
I'm even shitting blue.
It must have been the blueberry shave Ice I ate yesterday.
Can't wait to see Odell and Sterling, maybe even Cruz on the field together. Throw in an elusive Paul Perkins and an improved healthy Ereck Flowers. Eli in his 3rd season of McAdoo's new offense.
On defense we have a pass rush again with a run stuffer defensive line. Should match our 2014 sack numbers of 47 (4th in the NFL). An improved Landon Collins playing in his natural position as strong safety and a ball hawking backfield of Darian Thompson, Jenkins and Cromartie.
Playoffs are within reach. Once in the playoffs with Eli the Lombardi Trophy is the limit. Eli 8-3 in the post season.
I am always optimistic at the start of the season!
Bring it On!
Beyond that, I think it is clear that it was time for TC. The years of not getting it done within the division was the biggest issue for me, and I think it was just time for a change. Enter McAdoo, and I love what I am seeing so far. There is genuine confidence here, and energy. It's early, but I think we found ourselves a keeper. The past is the past and we start a new era now. Bring it on!
More excited than Vin R
On paper you have to like all the talent they brought in. Here is where the reserve judgement comes in as we need to see these guys perform.
I do think Eli has a great season and is Top 3 QB this year. Brady, Rodgers, Eli, Big Ben.
I am cautiously optimistic this season.....only thing that can stop us from making the playoffs, is serious injuries to key players.....
This team has absolutely no depth.....we are basically thin at every position....stay healthy, we make the playoffs, where anything can happen...one and done, or we go deep into it....if the injury bug continues to decimate this team, it can tank early...we are long over due for a few breaks.....
I'm extremely pumped for the season and I think we're gonna have a lot of fun this year. I'm always optimistic but I'm also objective. I err on the side of hopefulness but that's what fandom is for me. Hope.
But.....
deep down, if VC is a go, I will be truly excited.
Pretty much how I feel. I am not that optimistic about VC returning to form though. I am usually optimistic about the Giants, but there is something to be said for thinking they won't be very good and being pleasantly surprised if that turns out to be wrong.
I am also not as concerned with the OL. I get the funny feeling we have a TE in Adams who can help the right side while still being a receiving threat.
