The baseball gods aren't good enough with having only 4 of our 5 staring pitchers with TJ surgery...they really want to complete the total fuckery of this Mets staff.
Even when the Mets are good, it sucks being a Mets fan.

This is at least the 4th time since May 2014 that Noah Syndergaard has gone for an MRI on his elbow. He went on AAA DL then for that too.
The Mets are unlikely to offer any more details on Wednesday night regarding the injuries to Noah Syndergaard, Yoenis Cespedes and Zack Wheeler, a team official said. All three were examined on Wednesday by team doctors at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.
Citi Field turned into Panic Citi on Wednesday afternoon. Yet by night time, the prevailing hope was Noah Syndergaard and Yoenis Cespedes had avoided not only serious injury, but the disabled list altogether, The Post has learned.
Mets do plan to announce tonight that Noah Syndergaard and Yoenis Cespedes are both expected to avoid the DL.

Noah Syndergaard put a photo on Instragram this evening with the caption: "Happy elbows for me and mini Thor," while posing with a young lookalike. I suppose that's a positive.
Elbow discomfort is not as ominous as pain in the forearm
Pitchers have inflammation in the elbow after every start. The fact that it came around the 80 or 90 pitch mark is also a good sign. If he had left in the first inning I would be worried.
Plus, he had elbow and forearm pain his last season at AAA. So, this is nothing new.
I'm more worried about Matz not being able to throw the slider. They should give him a few starts off. I guess they were originally trying to wait for Wheeler to do that

#Mets announce no structural damage for Syndergaard. Just elbow discomfort. Taking anti-inflammatory med. Cleared to resume normal routine.

Zack Wheeler update: Sensory nerve irritation; no structural issues. Received cortisone injection; can resume rehab when he feels ready.
are in and the team wants to wait until the next day to announce information (i.e. press conference) its a really bad sign. Thank God the news came out tonight and everyone is good. Cespedes's sprain appears to be the worst.
And letting the speculators run wild would be a nightmare. Then giving the all clear tomorrow am, well the fans and media would rip them for it. It's happened before. Hopefully they've learned the lesson. Good sign.
I am so, so glad I checked this thread before I hit the sheets.
All things considered, this is the best news we possibly could have hoped for. If Cespedes missing a few days (and we have ATL coming up now.. yes, I know they just swept us but c'mon) is the worst news we get here, we should be pretty thankful.
Between all this, the negative x-rays on Flo and Bart... it seems like we're finally getting a little luck in this department for the first time in what seems like forever. I think we were all expecting much worse because we're conditioned to at this point.
With the way they gelled as a team last year, I think this mets club house can still make noise in the division/playoff race even with all the injuries. There's no logic to base this on, just a gut feeling, but to me, this feels like a team with an attainable end goal in mind.
Obviously, now that I trust in them they're going to sucker punch me in the stomach

I think the original lineup was less than the sum of its parts. Too many lefty pull hitters. Too many high K guys. No speed. Then add in that Duda and Grandy were not drawing walks like they usually did. Also, add in that the HR barrage made them a little too HR happy, and I think the team just got in a funk. Grandy is what, 1 for 23 with RISP and two outs? Walker seems like he has not had a hit in a big spot since April. Conforto is struggling to adjust to the 4 seamer inside standing closer to the plate.
I also think the expectations are making guys press a little bit too much. That's why I think a guy like Reyes with his carefree demeanor would be great for this team.
it was John Ricco a few weeks ago that said Syndergaard is someone who is "Very aware" of his body. My feeling with him is that he is somewhat paranoid to any pain he feels in his elbow. I can completely understand since every pitcher around him is having Tommy John Surgery, so he's more the exception than the rule and basically a ticking time bomb. Every pitcher is going to have soreness, he may not mentally be able to get out of his head that something might seriously be wrong. He can get his elbow MRId all he wants for I care if it keeps him calmn. I might suggest trying to vary his fastball somewhat, throw a let than top velocity in certain counts and max velocity at other times in the count. Throwing 98-100 every pitch is going to make you feel vulnerable.
New York Mets manager Terry Collins really didn't want to talk about Noah Syndergaard's elbow discomfort.
And he almost got away with it, too. If it weren't for that meddling PR guy.
As Collins was wrapping up his postgame presser on Wednesday after a 4-3 win over the Kansas City Royals, Collins was standing up to leave without having faced any questions about his star pitcher's elbow issues, which reporters were clearly unaware of.
Then Collins, after being told something off-camera, sat back down, clearly exasperated."What? There wasn't any questions on it. Oh, Jesus. ... The puppy dog wants you guys to now that, uh, Noah Syndergaard's seeing the doctor. His elbow flared up on him. That's why I took him out of the game," Collins said, before quickly exiting.
The "puppy dog" in question was longtime Mets PR guru Jay Horwitz and the whole incident caught the eye of plenty of people, including Mike Francesa, who ranted about it on his show Wednesday.
please don't be serious injury

please don't be serious injury...
Cespedes and Syndergaard left together to go see the doctor.
Even when the Mets are good, it sucks being a Mets fan.
That being said, if Noah's elbow is going to go at some point this year I would rather it be now so he can contribute in some form next year.
Is this a sick joke?

I would think you can count out Cespedes for at least a couple of games as cortisone shots usually means that
