are all good. Syndergaard has no structural damage; Cespedes minor irritation; Wheeler has a nervice sensory issue but no structural damage.
On Syndergaard:
I believe it was John Ricco a few weeks ago that said Syndergaard is someone who is "Very aware" of his body. My feeling with him is that he is somewhat paranoid to any pain he feels in his elbow. I can completely understand since every pitcher around him is having Tommy John Surgery, so he's more the exception than the rule and basically a ticking time bomb - in his mind. Every pitcher is going to have soreness, he may not mentally be able to get out of his head the worst case scenario. He can get his elbow MRId all he wants for I care if it keeps him calm. I might suggest trying to vary his fastball somewhat, throw a let than top velocity in certain counts and max velocity at other times in the count. Throwing 98-100 every pitch is going to make you feel vulnerable.
Mets 3.5 games out.
Dilson Herrera hit a tie-breaking grand slam in the 8th inning for Las Vegas last night. He drove in five runs total and now has 11 homers.
should be in DMM's minors thread when he creates it...
Brandon Nimmo was 3 for 5 with a walk, two runs scored, four RBI and his 7th triple of the year last night for @LasVegas51s.
Things looked much more dire one year ago.
I have confidence that the front office will make moves. Hoping they fall into place well, and guys weather their injury storms.
Just stay close, for now.
Things looked much more dire one year ago.
As well as a few days ago against that one team.
I love our September schedule and the fact that we will HOPEFULLY have Duda, Lagares and Wheeler all in the mix by then.
Yes, it's a long season. But, not for nothing, I don't think it's an overreaction when your team is awful for two straight months in the first half of the season. Could have easily buried is for the season. Getting crazy for a bad week here or there? Sure. But it's been two months...so far. The next three weeks are probably the most important part of the season. And we are almost limping into it. I really hope this Royals series sparked something.
For a team that has had NOTHING to right.
A shit ton of injuries
EVERYONE slumping
An offense that is offensive
I wouldn't be panicking. This alternative is so much better than he previous Mets season...
It's the league worse offense (for nearly the entire year so far), lack of speed and ingenuity, and reliance on the HR that is acting like an anchor.
Is it really slumping? Or are players just older or not as good as we hoped they would be? Minor leaguers that kill AAA but then come up and contribute nothing? Backups that contribute nothing. Injuries? Sure...but TdA, Duda, and Wright really sucked before they went out anyway.
But thats the offense you get when you create a boom or bust lineup that strikes out a ton.
I believe he's not officially a free agent until Saturday.
Flores / Loney should be a 1b platoon... at which point it still may not be an elite offense like Boston or the Cubs, but there's also no truly easy out in #1-8. Every guy can beat you in some way.
Move Walker to 3B and Reyes to 2b?
Or just try Reyes at 3b? In the majors or minors Reyes has zero games at 3b.
Droobs has 1.
Seems like it would take moving Walker to 3B to make this happen and the Mets seemed to be hesitant to do that for whatever reason.
Maybe he can, but he hasn't is my only point.
in 10 major league seasons Cabrera has 1 game (1.1 innings) at 3b. If you include minors or him in 13 years he has 6 starts at 3b.
Maybe it's a formality, I'm just wondering the plan. Maybe all SS's can be assumed to be able to play 3B. Don't know.
the little plays are the ones that would concern me - the coming in and having to barehand a slow roller, the going to your left and cutting off the ball that would be hit to the hole at SS. the little things they might seem minor but over a course of the next few months can add up.
