(After pretty much forgetting you'd listened the hell out of it at another time in your life.)

For me, it's Screaming Trees.

Liked them back then ... but now re-listening and finding that their stuff holds up. I might even like if more NOW than 20-some years ago. Good stuff.

Whatcha got?

I've been listening to old school 311 lately. "Music," "grassroots," and "311." from the early 90s.

Really getting into the early albums of what was arguably the first post-punk English band after a member of The Cure told me how influential they were.

"1 2 X U" from their debut album Pink Flag was famously covered by Minor Threat but the second album Chairs Missing is brilliant and paves the way for Fugazi.

80's group that blends jazz, reggae and rock. I found an old cassette of their "Special Beat Service" album. I had no way to play it, so it prompted me to download the album on iTunes. If you don't know who they are, checkout some of their stuff...

Sister* Morphine. Don't know what I was thinking, but Sinister Morphine would be a great song, too, no doubt.

really one-hit-wonders with the song from the Singles Soundtrack? What is there to rediscover? that one hit?

great soundtrack by the way.

the closest I get is The Jesus and Mary Chain or Ned's Atomic Dustbin. they'll come on my iphone on random shuffle and then I'll end shuffle and just play their songs. Jesus and Mary Chain had more songs than Ned's but Ned's had a few good ones too. Violent Femmes is another.

I'm a lifelong metal fan, and I always thought King Diamonds falsetto was incredibly lame. However, many decades later, after listening to it again its still lame, but is SO METAL that I love it now.

For some reason this week I've been listening to some Meat Puppets (II and Up on the Sun), and Guided By Voices (Bee Thousand).

It had been a while... these are transporting me right back to high school.

Wow, they were part of the Long Island Hardcore family. I think their split EP with Indecision is collecting dust somewhere in my parents attic. This was a side project for the two guitar players. Their main band, Glassjaw, had some commercial success and is still together.
Some that come to mind...
