He is going up against guys who have trained for years for this...specialized in this.....
His 51.4 equals 16.67M......there are 5 americans who have done better than 17.11M......I seriously doubt he can pass any of them....how many make the team? 2? 3?

closed on Monday and DW did not submit an entry, so it's not happening. He probably did not have a qualifying mark.
The 51'4" that his coach called out at the close of the video translates to 15.64 meters not 16.67 (as suggested above). His all time best is 16.20 (53' 1 3/4") which he jumped in 2011, finishing 6th in the NCAA championship meet.
If he had been able to match that 16.20 in 2016, it would have ranked him 24th among American triple jumpers so far this year, which is exactly the field size accepted for entry to the Trials.
Being top three in the nation at the Olympic Trials in any track and field event is really, really hard. Wish him good luck with his next endeavor.

He needs to improve his best by 2.5% to catch up with those guys jumping 17.11 m or better. Unlikely but not impossible IMV.

The only way he was ever going to the Olympics was with a ticket. 51 feet in the TJ plus $2.75 will get him a ride on the NY Subway.
Kinna reminds me of people like Jordan, Bench and Smoltz who say they are going to join the pro golf tour after they retire from their respective sports.

I think 99% of us are aware of that. You're not telling us anything we don't already know. I bet you were telling your friends not to even bother watching the USA hockey team upset Russia.

Are you projecting? Am I sorry that I picked on my own team for their mediocrity, the last 3 seasons? No...unfortunately, most of what I posted was correct, and many on this board did not want to face reality....
If you have read most of what I have written this season, I think this team makes the playoffs this season, if they avoid injuries...
who got a raw deal. I hope he gets to compete in something. Bobsled maybe? Idk.
And i'm sorry, but i HATE these glorified commercials that they try to pass off as some heartwarming story. Reebok still makes The Pump? Puke.
Bob sled would make sense if he bulked up and was huge. Jesse Lumsden has done it a few times. Get a tall jacked running back and tell him to push and then provide dead weight for the rest of the event lol. Surprised we don't see more football flameouts get into it honestly.
Wilson is a gamer but we all knew this was an insane long shot. Wish the guy the best.

Yes they talked about how he slimmed down from his playing weight and how he has trained completely different.
