if she was tied up how did she get a box cutter or w/e and kill Neil patrick harris? you cannot do anything (say if this were was real life)

Ben Affleck couldn't tell the truth because nobody would believe the truth. Tyler Perry told him as much. Also the book made clear that they both benefited financially from the whole affair.

Seriously you should read the book. Even after seeing the movie I could not put that book down.

My first words to my wife after I watched this piece of shit were "this movie was a piece of shit, but it's not the fault of the actors."

The story was awful. Just an awful movie.

there were a lot of holes...

pretty good 1st act, then the rails started falling off. Deplorable ending. Why Fincher took this script on is beyond me.

Don't bother. Its easily Fincher's worst movie and unless you find Ben Affleck's ability to act like a statue riveting, its really nothing more than a popcorn flick (which is fine). My wife read it and she said there were enough changes from the plot that didn't make sense to not be included in the movie. I'm guessing the book is infinitely better.

but you could tell by how it was written it was going to be a terrible movie. It was a money grab, capitalizing on the book's success. It's been done since the dawn of cinema but some books are more easily transferable to film than others. The first act of the book is a fake diary and flashbacks. I give Fincher credit for doing what he did with that.

I thought it was idiotic and illogical.

It concluded that the Ben Afleck character was powerless to make his "darling" nutjob wife hate being with him for the rest of her life. I could think of a thousand things he could do to make her want to go.

But if you gents are looking for a movie to watch with the wife/girlfriend (and she won't agree to watching Star Wars or Godfather 1 or 2 or a war movie yet again), Gone Girl wasn't so bad

Was that no one checked into whether the rich guy had an alibi for when the abduction supposedly took place. That point never came up. I thought the ending was terrible as well. The book was better than the movie, but not by much.

Amy was pregnant with Ben Affleck's kid, both he and Amy were celebrities and their financial problems were over. At this point he has three alternatives.

1) run away and disappear .

2) attempt to reveal the truth which nobody would believe. At best mom winds up in jail, his kid is born in jail and he's a broke single father.

3) accept the status quo, be nice to his crazy wife, life an outwardly normal life and hope the nastiness of what just occurred goes away.

I think most people would choose 3.

Movie gets good to great reviews nearly everywhere? It will probably get destroyed on Bbi. Kind of agree tho. Movie didn't bore me but kind of disappointed.
