(Let's try this again. No hard feelings, Shadow. The consensus just seemed to be that those Reddit spoilers crossed the line.)
This is the weekly free-for-all thread. As usual, the main constraint is not to post information from advance viewing of the actual episode. So, if you received a DVD from your cousin at HBO that shows Cersei Lannister napalming the Great Sept of Baelor, please keep it to yourself. Anything else is fair game,
BUT...
IF YOU HAVE GOOD REASON TO THINK A SPOILER CAME FROM SOMEBODY WHO HAS ALREADY SEEN THE EPISODE, PLEASE BE COURTEOUS ABOUT POSTING
Official HBO synopsis:
Link to official photos is below, courtesy of Watchers on the Wall.
Predictions:
1. Loras swears off the big D.
2. So does Daenerys (for now).
3. Frey pies! Frey smoothies! Freyburgers! Frey Fries!
4. Monkfries: Cersei chooses more violence... much more... maybe more than she intended.
5. T.o.J.: R + L = J + x. Solve for x.
Week 9 Death Pool Winners: Ramsay Bolton, Rickon Stark, Smalljon Umber, Wun Weg Wun Dar Dun, Free Folk, Northmen, Yunkish and Astapori slavers (and their crewmen, most of whom were likely slaves - oops), Sons of the Harpy. Status of Harald Karstark and the Harpy herself still TBD.
Death Pool Opening Favorites for Week 10 - bloodbath expected:
Lyanna Stark (vision) 1-10
High Sparrow 1-2
Septa Unella 1-2
Lancel Lannister and anonymous FM devotees 1-2
Walder Frey, his heirs and successors 1-2
Loras Tyrell 1-1
Grand Maester Pycelle 1-1
Kevan Lannister 3-2
Tommen Baratheon 2-1
Melisandre of Assha'i 2-1
Margaery Tyrell 4-1
Euron Greyjoy 8-1
Davos Seaworth 10-1
Jon might also need to behead Harald Karstark, if the little weasel is still alive. Or maybe Jon and Sansa start rebuilding the Northern Alliance by pardoning Karstark. Somebody has to defend Karhold in the War to Come.
(I'll repost the rest of the prior thread below.)

they're going to introduce the Freys now?
widmerseyebrow : 1:03 pm : link : reply
Maybe not pie, but they're showing the Freys celebrating this episode. Why bother unless there's more to that story. Maybe the BoB is actually several thousand strong or they take the dozen guys we've seen and infiltrate the Twins like ninjas.
Chris: Jaime's next destination is the Twins.
Big Blue Blogger : 1:06 pm : link : reply
Seems weird, considering his hurry to get back to Cersei, but there it is. Keep in mind that the Frey Brothers didn't take Riverrun; Jaime did. That leaves a potential dispute between two families who were bound only by their anger at the Starks and their alliances of convenience with Roose Bolton.
Bronn seems to have a few thoughts on the situation too.
Are we expecting
Kyle in NY : 1:21 pm : link : reply
the conclusion of the tower of joy vision this week? That'd be a nice season finale event
Kyle in NY : 1:22 pm : link : reply
Based on the death pool odds it would seem so, nice.
RE: Chris: Jaime's next destination is the Twins.
moespree : 1:25 pm : link : reply
What's interesting about the photos you posted is in photo 2, Bronn is standing in the exact place where Walder Frey was sitting in photo 1. Walder doesn't move around all that much on his own....
The ninja in the house isn't Beric or Thoros or the Hound.
Big Blue Blogger : 1:27 pm : link : reply
If there's a ninja en route to the Twins, it might just be a pissed-off, faceless assassin capable of disguising herself as a Frey and summoning a small army of hungry wolves. I wonder if Arya's next face might belong to Walder's young wife. That would explain why they showed the poor girl a few episodes back. It could also account for Maisie Williams's remark that she was in the Season 6 preview more than most viewers probably realized.
I think the Freys live until next season
weeg in the bronx : 1:38 pm : link : reply
Ayra has to kill some of the people on her list and walder is on it. Same with Cersai so I think she lives. My money is on Tommen. Davos wacks the red witch too.
Is the hell horn
weeg in the bronx : 1:40 pm : link : reply
the one that can take down the wall?
There is no way Jon will allow
Shadow : 1:43 pm : link : reply
Melisandre to be harmed by Davos or anyone else. He may send her away for it.
RE: Is the hell horn
leatherneck570 : 1:44 pm : link : reply
the one that can take down the wall?
no. It can control dragons, however.
Cersei is going to burn the mall!
Andy in Halifax : 1:45 pm : link : reply
Or something like that... Can't wait!
I'd like to see Cersei as a main villain moving forward. I joke about her losing her shit but I hope any act of desperation we may see in the finale (assuming she wins as I suspect) isn't a rapid decent into madness. Desperate Cersei is a dangerous Cersei. A mad Cersei is a boring Cersei.
RE: The ninja in the house isn't Beric or Thoros or the Hound.
widmerseyebrow : 1:48 pm : link : reply
Man, that would be the ultimate teleport. The series could be over in 3 or 4 more episodes if Arya pulls that off sunday.
Closing scene:
widmerseyebrow : 1:51 pm : link : reply
Slow zoom out of Dany's fleet sailing the ocean with the Dragons soaring above.
Considerable time has elapsed between the last time we saw Arya
Andy in Halifax : 1:51 pm : link : reply
and after the battle of the bastards. Plenty of time for her to get on a boat and sail across the narrow sea and make her way to the Twins.
RE: Closing scene:
widmerseyebrow : 1:52 pm : link : reply
My guess that is.
Frey Pies would be fucking epic!
Andy in Halifax : 1:57 pm : link : reply
I hope that B Cubed prediction comes true, and then Arya slices off Walders head with needle. Pretty please?
Will the cliffhanger be a scene back at the Tower of Joy,
TheBigBlueOne : 2:01 pm : link : reply
where we see a young Ned use Ser Arthur Dayne's sword, Dawn, to give a c-section to his dying sister, Lyanna, thereby performing this baby's birth under a bleeding star? And the last line uttered will be, "I will name him Jon." End credits!
Widmerseyebrow: No need for Arya to teleport.
Big Blue Blogger : 2:02 pm : link : reply
Not sure I follow you there. It's only about a week's journey by boat from Braavos to the Twins. Arya is either traveling alone, or with the theater troupe (which seems more likely, as a means of infiltrating a castle on the day of a celebration). She can get there in roughly the time it will take the Lannister and Frey armies to secure their prisoners, garrison the castle, reprovision, break camp and travel east on the River Road then north on the Kingsroad to the Twins.
I still say Cersei decides to ignite the wildfire in the Sept
Ben in Tampa : 2:12 pm : link : reply
But Jamie, torn by his love of Cersei but overcome with Knight's honor, Queenslayers her and comes full circle.
I think the closing scene
Pete in 'Vliet : 2:12 pm : link : reply
will end up being the Walkers approaching the wall. Maybe they destroy it through magic, or just stare at it till end credits. But, I think the season ends with a very strong visualization that "Winter is Here"
RE: I still say Cersei decides to ignite the wildfire in the Sept
Pete in 'Vliet : 2:17 pm : link : reply
I think that last part happens next season. If Cersie does do what everyone thinks she is going to do. I think she escapes Kingslanding and runs into Jamie. When he learns what she did, he strangles her to complete the witches prophesy.
I think Cersei
UConn4523 : 2:35 pm : link : reply
survives this season. There needs to be a current villain for next season and a Cersei that just burned down the capital of the realm will open up a lot of scenarios. If Jamie is in fact the person who ends up killing her (I think so) it would make sense for that to happen next season and not rush that right now.
I keep hoping that certain book elements will turn up.
Big Blue Blogger : 2:37 pm : link : reply
It usually doesn't happen. The latest example is Nymeria's wolfpack. Arya's return to the Twins would be the perfect time to bring them in: while Arya avenges Robb and Catelyn, Nym avenges Grey Wind - and indirectly, Lady, Summer and Shaggydog. Plus, canines tearing out throats has been a recurring theme lately. I won't get my hopes up, though. Nymeria might be just another loose end that the show never bothers to tie up.
Speaking of the Stark direwolves, interesting insight from the director of E9: within the available CGI budget, the battle for Winterfell could feature either Ghost or the giant, but not both. Wun Wun won.

UConn4523 : 2:41 pm : link : reply
I read that as well about the episode 9 budget. Its a shame, watching Ghost tear shit up would have been awesome, but we needed Wun Wun as well. I wish the Vinyl cancellation came earlier and they stole the budget that way, haha.
I'm pretty interested by what happens in the North
moespree : 2:41 pm : link : reply
Littlefinger could take out Jon if he wanted. He's got mounted Vale knights at his disposal and Jon's army has been crushed, is beaten and tired. It'd be little contest. So where does Sansa fall into that? I assume she would not be okay with this happening, but it's just an assumption. I don't know where her character is headed. I do know with Arya reemerging in Westeros it would lead to a sister clash in season 7. Arya would go apeshit if LF and/or Sansa tried to harm Jon. I'm not convinced Sansa would willingly harm Jon. Though, LF would.
I was wondering where Ghost was
weeg in the bronx : 3:47 pm : link : reply
Agree Wun Wun was the better choice though
BTW, for those of you who enjoy audio books, GOT is as good as it gets. The narrator is Roy Dotrice and he brings the characters to life. If you have an Audible account check it out.

Yes and no. And at this point in the show, no. Don't really want to spoil it for you.
I loved the books way before the show, so I will always have a bias in that direction.
The cast list for an episode that airs tomorrow night seems like fair game to me. The list might not even be accurate. And once the cast is mentioned, everyone can draw any inferences they like.
To err on the side of courtesy, I'll post my observations regarding the cast list separately below.
The Sand Snakes are back. Awesome!
...said absolutely no one, ever. No surprise here. Varys was last seen headed for Sunspear to negotiate on Dany's behalf. Now that the Mother of Dragons has a fleet, Dorne is the logical beachhead for her invasion of Westeros: it's on the way, and not only are the Sands sworn enemies of the Lannisters, they are also the leading Westerosi outpost of the Girl Power Revolution (though Lyanna Mormont is way awesomer).
The Hound and his new friends are in the house.
This could mean a lot, or very little. Maybe they are just heading North to begin the mission Thoros and Beric discussed two weeks ago. On the other hand, they will pass the Twins, and there could be some very tasty chicken at that feast Walder is hosting this week.
Bricks in the Wall: Bran, Meera, Benjen, Edd and the Night's King.
We knew Bran would have his third-eye groove on this week, which would account for everyone except Tollett. Edd's appearance suggests new developments at Castle Black. Considering how lightly the Wall is defended, that can't be good for Team Living.
Young Ned Stark and Howland Reed revisit the Tower of Joy.
"Promise me Ned..." The second worst-kept secret of Season 6 (after Jon's resurrection) has been that E10 would feature some sort of ToJ reveal. Let's hope it was worth the wait. Lyanna Stark isn't listed, but she's the kind of character HBO would withhold; and even if this is the full Lyanna reveal, we might never see her face - just her blood and her progeny.
No mummers, no Maisie.
Slight disappointment here, or possibly a fake-out. Since the actors don't know that their leading lady is dead, Arya could have borrowed Essie Davis's face and hitched a ride across the Narrow Sea. But nobody in the troupe has mentioned a Westerosi tour, and Arya appears to have access to boat-fare, so that scenario was never more than a theory. The big news would be Arya Stark sitting out a season finale - especially one with a high likelihood of dead Freys. Personally, I think this is BS, and we'll be seeing Arya, though we might not know it.
Our Enemies are anyone who is not us!
Last scene episode 10 will be The wall being breached by the White Walkers.
Forget the Clegane Bowl the most anticipated match up is Dany and Yara!
Our Enemies are anyone who is not us!
Did you read that on reddit too, idiot?

but I believe Tyrion will be the one who collects that debt.

Cunt. Idiot. Dupe. Troll. Zebra3. Douche. You wear many hats.
Now tyrion has a whole list of things he could kill her for going back to when he was a baby.

Bad Show old man.
Tommen: 90%
Edd: 85%
Cersei: 60%
Margaery and Loras: ??% (Oz's guess: one lives; one dies)
Littlefinger: 50%
Daario: 35%
Melisandre: 25%
Jaime: 20%
Jorah: 10%
Arya, Bran or Sansa: 5%
I think he's way too pessimistic about Cersei (or optimistic, depending on your point of view). Daario and Littlefinger are his dark-horse/out-of-the-blue picks. Edd's just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

No Walder Frey? I originally thought he was brought back to the series to die. So many of us on /r/asoiaf were speculating Red Wedding 2.0.
Would it be ironic that he search for the cure took Ser Jorah back to Westeros, particularly the North, where he becomes the one man who can't be taken by the Others?
Oz seems to think Walder's time hasn't come yet, or maybe he just didn't think the old fart was worth mentioning.
The battle of wits has begun. It ends when you decide and we both drink, and find out who is right... and who is dead
Although I guess they could run into the Brotherhood without her instead. But let a man dream, damn it.
Good luck, Loras. You'll need it.
Her debut was fantastic, then she tops it with a Ramsey stare down, now she completely owns a meeting of the northern houses. Best character of the season.
Cersei and Jaime are now the only surviving Lannisters. After a chilly reunion, he might agree to make more blonde babies to carry on the family name, then strangle her in bed.
2. So does Daenerys (for now). Check.
3. Frey pies! Frey smoothies! Freyburgers! Frey Fries! Triple Chex.
4. Monkfries: Cersei chooses more violence... much more... maybe more than she intended. The check to end all checks.
5. T.o.J.: R + L = J + x. Solve for x. Check, but apparently x = 0 (sorry Meera).
Great ep.
Well Cersei's plans *always* work out in the short term; she's a hedonist and will always grab whatever she wants. She's utterly fucked overall. She already had Dorne against her and now she's squandered the one tenuous ally she might have had in the Tyrells. Where will the help come from? Riverrun and a headless House Frey who couldn't get out of their way in the first place (underrated lines from Jaime here burning Walder Frey lololol; many talk about Jaime's flawed character development, but other than his continued devotion to Cersei, he's actually shown himself to be an intelligent and cool-headed diplomat.) Littlefinger and the Vale won't be helping Cersei, especially once he sees the Reach and Dorne alliance. And lol the Starks.
I think the show overall has done a good job with Cersei; she's irredeemable and her own worst enemy.
Well, she's Queen, but what are her assets? Zombie-Mountain, Qyburn, and a bunch of urchins. She can't even count on the Lannister army with Jaime at its head. Arrayed against her: Dorne, the Reach, and a very potent invading force led by three dragons. Not to mention Littlefinger's designs on the Iron Throne.
Cersei is toast. But who gets to finish her, Jaime or Arya?
