Coughlin coaching the Giants, as I do Parcells coaching the Giants. From '63 and on, those are the only two Giant HCs that I miss. What happens with Ben McAdoo remains to be seen.
I'm fairly certain he's not enforcing prison rules football in practices.
Not sure myself but Coughlin made this criticism of the previous coach a big part of his opening press conference. So if the criticism applies to Fassel, why do some give Coughlin a free pass on this issue or provide weak excuses?
RE: RE: I do not know how players getting injured somehow falls on the head
Will be to see if the Giants STILL lead the league (or are among the top5) in injuries in this season. If they STILL ARE, we can conclude it had nothing to do with TC and the old Strength/Conditioning coach/program.
If they are NOT, and they trend back toward "normal," that's a pretty big indictment of the TC regime on that front.
WTF is that? He's a great football coach and perhaps better man who is routinely shit on by so called Giants fans. If defending him against shots from morons (see the posts on injuries above and every post by Al) is crime, I'm guilty.

Thst is why I like BBI. Morons like me are allowed to post.

but couldn't imagine, based on what we know about him, that he would not do everything he could to properly prepare the team. Therefore to me he was always the right guy for the job.
Lots of good coaches don't win squat but he brought home the Lombardi twice so he's got that.
But everything ends, and its not always a bad thing either...

Blind hero worship is pretending that any coach that wins 19 games in three years and misses the playoffs in four straight is not without some level of fault.

And the "better man" part is exactly the hero worship nonsense. His spirit, virtue and character are great traits, but I watch the Giants to root them on to victory. If I want to canonize someone's personality, I can do something else on Sundays. I want to see them win. And over the past few years, Coughlin has not been able to deliver that. If you're not able to see him being part of the problem rather than the solution, I suppose we'll just fundamentally disagree. But I don't care about him being a "better man."
He's not on his death bed. He got two rings and may make the hall of fame. He should be celebrated, not mourned.
Exactly. And if someone feels compelled to focus on coighlin's shortcomings then we could easily do the same for every single NFL HC to come along not named belichick and Lombardi and Walsh. 99% of them have warts. Not many have two rings.
Diatribe on injuries in my view. I don't think he was killing the prior regime for injuries as much as he was questioning the nature of some of those injuries during the 2003 season and the business decisions far too many Giants players were making that year. That was a true example of a team that quit. Coughlin saw that and wanted to weed out the cancer.
Coughlin is not a stupid man he knew then that injuries will occur. He was taking more about the culture.
You're in the camp that believes the Giants didn't win because of the coaches but those same coaches weren't the reason they won 2 SBs.
News flash - coaching is important but it's only part of the reason a team wins or loses.
It's like, wahhh, wahhh, the Giants ruined my Sunday. Someone must pay!
Don't put words in my mouth. The Giants are incapable of ruining my Sunday. Perhaps you just missed the Sunday mention in reference to canonization?
I just think that sports is the ultimate meritocracy. Results are the only thing that matters. Never did I say that the coaching staff should be denied credit for the team's successes, but I also recognize a trend when I see one. We can't just close our eyes and pretend it's 2007/11 permanently. The fact is, under Coughlin, the Giants had won 19 games over the past three years and had missed the playoffs for the past four years. Those results will get nearly any head coach fired. I happen to believe it was merited - I felt as though I witnessed (through my amateur eyes) a number of coaching/strategy errors last season that were not emblematic of the Coughlin attention to detail that we all celebrated over the years. Is that the only reason why the Giants lost? No, not entirely. But in the context of a multi-season losing trend, it was cause for concern, IMO.
Talk to you in December....

Al has always hated Coughlin so this is nothing new. He's about the 10 years than TC, you would think he show the man some respect and appreciation

There's respect/appreciation, and then there's blind hero worship. Which do you think more accurately describes your feelings toward TC?
If they are NOT, and they trend back toward "normal," that's a pretty big indictment of the TC regime on that front.
Yep, very interested to see how this plays out.
