NFT: How's everyone's summer going?

Sean : 6/25/2016 5:15 pm
It's amazing how quickly summer goes by. It literally felt like yesterday it was Memorial Day weekend and now next weekend is 4th of July. Unfortunately it will be Labor Day in a blink of an eye.

My wife and I are doing a lot of day/weekend trips to the shore. I try to enjoy as many good craft beers as possible and BBQ/eat outside as much as possible.

I've always been someone who really enjoys every season. But damn does summer fly by.
One of the ways that the US is far behinds some other nations
superspynyg : 6/25/2016 5:33 pm : link
is that we do not value time off the way they do in England, Spain, Germany. We allow corporations to chain us to our 8 hour 5 day a week with 2 weeks for vacation schedules.

Some nations allow you to take a month off in the summer. Not here we have a certain amount of time and if we do not use it we lose it.
It's been summer for 5 days

I'm talking more so about the Memorial Day-Labor Day timeline.
The older I get ... he faster time seems to pass.

Not sure if that is an illusion or not ...
Can't wait for it to pass.

Summer sucks down here in the sub tropics. June, July, August, and September suck. The other 8 months are great. Gardening, barbequing, outdoor time etc. Would rather have the 8 good months anytime.
Ok

Too busy so far and not enough paddling. We have a beach house on LBI the week of July 2, can't wait. Hopefully, I'll get action with the surf rod.

It's best for you if it is an illusion.

For those of us with kids summer doesn't really start till school lets out. NJ schools just got out this past week.
Summer's been great...
Dan in the Springs : 6/25/2016 8:21 pm : link
cooking out on the grill regularly - eating lots of watermelon, and enjoying the beautiful long days.

I've been looking forward to doing some 4-wheel ATV picnics with the wife, but been a little hamstrung by a sprinkler project lately.

Been fishing a little too. The other day I took my teenage daughters to a favorite fishing hole where they nailed rainbow trout for a bit. I spent the time baiting hooks and releasing fish, and basically enjoying watching their excitement.

Planning a little camping trip, then a major road trip to visit my sons who are working in the NoVA area this summer. It will be my second major road trip of the year. The last one was a better trip in terms of the time I had. This next one will be better because I'm expecting my first grandbaby, due the first week of August!

Best summer in a long time as I've finished many projects I've been working on and am really enjoying some leisure time. Haven't started reading some of the books I've wanted to catch up on yet though.
Summer of change

Empty nest for the first time in 20 years. Youngest just left for fsu. We're 'noles now- don't tell Miami...I've been on this site pretty much through it all.
I'll save you all the "blast her..." Comments, cause believe me--its
On!
Summer is football foreplay. Every day is great

Honestly, I'm not feeling it this summer.

Been in a malaise about money. While I'm pretty sure I'm getting out of the restaurant industry by the end of the summer, I'm not doing nearly what I want because my income is literally cut in half here in Philly. I'm literally making less than half what I was less than a month ago and it's been tough paying my bills on time let alone enough to really do anything fun. No music festivals. No trips to the beach. My parents invited me to come to Nantucket for a week this year, but I don't know if I can afford it.

Ugh, so to answer you're question, I'm looking forward to football.

Same out here in the desert. Spend a lot of time in the summer either in AC or submerged in the pool. Actually this year add in rehabbing from knee replacement.
Come September the weather starts getting real again.

Going too quick
SanFranNowNCGiantsFan : 6/26/2016 8:07 am : link
But then again, all the years start going quick after a certain age.
There is a theory about the seemingly quick passage of time...
Crispino : 6/26/2016 8:07 am : link
as you age that it's because every year represents proportionately smaller fractions of your time on earth. To a five year old, a year represents 1/5 of their life. For a 50 year old, 1/50. Makes some sense to me.
Too hot too soon

and not enough rain. I suppose this is what it's like to live in Phoenix. No thanks.

I'm so glad I decided to live in Cocoa Beach and make the commute to Orlando daily for work.

I spend a shit ton on tolls, gas, ready for my second set of new tires and of course the time factor.

But, I wouldn't trade it to live in that fucking concrete furnace. The air doesn't circulate and no breeze whatsoever.

This may not be Arizona or Miami but Orlando is/has to be one of the most uncomfortable places in the summer.

My summer is going great as I live across the street from the ocean and get there often, even on work days.

However, looking forward to the fall as October here is plain perfect. High 70's and starts to cool down at night.
