I could see why he called it. Diaz had a couple warnings after his yellow. So may have had a bit of a precedent... But it looked like Diaz had no place to go.
- the first yellow on Diaz was right, the second wasn't, and the Rojo play might have been a foul or even maybe a yellow, but wasn't a straight red - he got ball and made very little body contact.
I think a strong case can be made that Arturo Vidal is the best player in the world. He is bossing the midfield and glued to Messi when he gets the ball. The guy works unbelievably hard.

Couldn't agree more. Can't remember the last time I've seen such a complete midfielder.
How do TV networks make money on broadcasting soccer
Much easier to catch with the gloves the NFL players use. GK gloves aren't that easy to catch with. It's not hard, but a lot harder then the gloves that WRs use.

Between him and Pogba, that is my favorite CM combo in the world currently.
But he had more cohesion with Messi than anyone else on the field. Banega offered next to nothing in both attack and defense, and Di Maria appears to be a lost cause for Argentina.
But I'm going with 2-1 Argentina.
Agreed - he fucked up with the Chile red so he had to correct the mistake.
At least the main players for each team are still on.
I think it was a bad foul - Rojo got him in the lower leg from behind. Quite nasty.
I don't blame the ref. Both side are out of control, fouls, crowding the ref, looks like a gang brawl.
Wasn't Sampaoli the guy who looks like Pitbull?
I agree with you. Only way the ref can gain control is throw players off the field. What else can he do to stop the dirty play?
Working so hard to draw fouls and to unnerve the ref is allowed time and again in that region.
Frankly, if Messi was given a yellow for diving, most of the teams should have played down 5 players due to simulation of being writhing jackasses.

Messi has had spells of being poor from the spot, and Claudio Bravo has probably faced him a million times at Barcelona's practices.
Can you blame them? Although considering his first half mistakes, he's done a good job settling the match down.

They just called the ref a clown.

I agree. This game was a nightmare to ref. The teams started out so out of control, the situation was crazy.
BAGGIO HAD CRAMPS! STOP TRIGGERING MY PTSD!!!!
Chile's annihilation of Mexico was a statement game. They're good.
Good for Chile. Argentina has too many dickbags to root for them.
The actual play in the Copa has been much better than the Euros to date. Although we are seeing the wheat separating from the chaff now in Europe.
