NFT: Pat Summitt's health in decline - Disease is progressing

FatMan in Charlotte : 6/26/2016 9:27 pm
There has been a lot of chatter coming out of UT in the past few weeks that legendary women's BB coach, Pat Summitt, is close to death as here Alzheimer's has gotten worse.

This past weekend, there was a private ceremony in Knoxville to celebrate her life and in the past week several former players, opposing coaches, friends and family have visited, expected to say their goodbyes.

Godspeed to a great coach. Alzheimer's is a bitch.
I could be wrong

dont know where I read that.

Terrible thing. Prayers to her and her entire family.
She does have dementia..

as part of the early onset Alzheimer's.
I was vaguely aware of her outstanding record at Tennessee...

But after a quick Wikipedia read through she is better than "great."
1,098-208 lifetime as Vols HC. .841 W/L %.

Easily top 10 all time coach from any sport. I hope she passes as peacefully as possible.
Alzheimers is fucking terrifying...

I hope she passes peacefully.
Brutal disease

But there are some nice stories on how UT dealt with her having the disease.

Same thing from what i understand. It's on the onset of AZ
She's only 64

Figured this disease hit much later. The onset must have began in her late 50's? That's kinda scary
Amazing coach

It is horrible when Alzheimer's afflicts anyone, but it just seems more egregious when it brings down someone as accomplished as young as Coach Summitt. I hope her passing is easy and quick.

It's early onset. She was diagnosed 6 years ago.

I hope she's comfortable, all you can ask for with anyone going through this.
She has..

passed. Her family reports she went peacefully at the senior living home where she was staying.
My dad has been suffering with Alzhiemer for the last 6-7 years

Where we once saw its progression over months has now turned into a new symptom, every few weeks. To see a loved one suffer from thus horrific disease is stressful asf. I would wish this on a worse enemy.

RIP Pat. It's over now.
I wouldn't

She got me into watching women basketball. Just love seeing her fiery sideline arm gestures and going at the refs. I always rooted for the Lady Vols.
