NFT: Movie you would like see made or just done

32_Razor : 6/27/2016 11:22 pm
I have a wide collection of movies on different media and I was thinking which ones I would like to see updated and remade in the future. Here is my wish list.

1. Pride of the Yankees- Loved the Gary Cooper original however I would love it remade. I always thought there were alot of rough cuts in the original movie and never caught the feeling of Lou dealing with ALS as his career ended and thereafter.

2. Rosemary's Baby- If this movie was remade with the special effects out today it would be twice as good as the original.

3. The Birds- Would love to see this remade and with today's special effects also not with just seagulls attacking but other birds.

4. Them!- Again, today's special effects would make this an awesome campy movie like sharknado is today.

5. A book I would like to see turned into a movie would be Ben Cramers "Joe Dimaggio- A hero's Life. I would want to see Joe and Marilyn on the beach and Joe trying to keep marilyn covered up also Joe as the only man in America who could keep both Kennedy's from attending the funeral would be a great scene if it were made for a movie.

6. The China Syndrome. Would love to see this in Modern day America

7. Flash Gordon part 2. _Ming did pick up the ring at the end of 1 but over 40 years later no sequel?

8. The Ten Commandments- Can't replace the orginal but would love to see this redone with better special effects

9. Sleeper- I would like to see Woody Allen film redone starring a perfect comedian for the lead role.-Ben Stiller maybe?

10. Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I know its been remade a couple times but would like to see this set in modern day with a changed around story.
sorry meant movies you would like to see remade for title

sorry
I really want them

To make a movies based on Leon Uris's Trinity. Its an epic tale of two friends who go down different paths but end up involved in the making if the Itish Republican Brotherhood which became Sinn Fein and the original IRA following the Easter Rising. Great story.

Another one I wanted to see Was The Risk Pool by Richard Russo. A screenplay was created and bought and Tom Hanks was going to play Ned Hall, but like so many projects, it fell through. Id love to see that on the Big Screen. Its a classic Russo story, small town drama with tremendous characters.
Sorry,

Misread the title. Those were only books Id like to see made into movies, but they never were.
Really?

Am I the only one that HATES all these remakes of classic movies, or almost any movie for that matter? You know what I want to see, some original ideas from Hollywood.
I'd like to see one made

Instead of 230 hour

Faux epics, I want to see Hollywood make 100 mins or less quality over quantity movies. I'd even be a fan of small 30 min short flicks before the main event.

but would love to see a movie made about MSG Roy Benavidez, his story is so crazy it almost doesn't seem true...

Quote:
In 1965 he was sent to South Vietnam as an advisor to an Army of the Republic of Vietnam infantry regiment. He stepped on a land mine [1] during a patrol and was evacuated to the United States, where doctors at Fort Sam Houston concluded he would never walk again and began preparing his medical discharge papers. As Benavidez noted in his 1981 MOH acceptance speech, stung by the diagnosis, as well as flag burnings and media criticism of the US military presence in Vietnam he saw on TV, he began an unsanctioned nightly training ritual in an attempt to redevelop his ability to walk. Getting out of bed at night (against doctors' orders), Benavidez would crawl using his elbows and chin to a wall near his bedside and (with the encouragement of his fellow patients, many of whom were permanently paralyzed and/or missing limbs), he would prop himself against the wall and attempt to lift himself unaided, starting by wiggling his toes, then his feet, and then eventually (after several months of excruciating practice that by his own admission often left him in tears) pushing himself up the wall with his ankles and legs.[2] After over a year of hospitalization, Benavidez walked out of the hospital in July 1966, with his wife at his side, determined to return to combat in Vietnam. Despite continuing pain from his wounds, he returned to South Vietnam in January 1968.

6 Hours in Hell[edit]
On May 2, 1968, a 12-man Special Forces patrol which included nine Montagnard tribesmen, was surrounded by a NVA infantry battalion of about 1,000 men. Benavidez heard the radio appeal for help and boarded a helicopter to respond. Armed only with a knife, he jumped from the helicopter carrying his medical bag and ran to help the trapped patrol. Benavidez "distinguished himself by a series of daring and extremely valorous actions... and because of his gallant choice to join voluntarily his comrades who were in critical straits, to expose himself constantly to withering enemy fire, and his refusal to be stopped despite numerous severe wounds, saved the lives of at least eight men." After the battle, he was evacuated to the base camp, examined, and thought to be dead. As he was placed in a body bag among the other dead in body bags, he was suddenly recognized by a friend who called for help. A doctor came and examined him but believed Benavidez was dead. The doctor was about to zip up the body bag when Benavidez managed to spit in his face, alerting the doctor that he was alive.[3](see medal citation below) Benavidez had a total of 37 separate bullet, bayonet, and shrapnel wounds from the six-hour fight with the enemy battalion.[4]

Benavidez was evacuated once again to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he eventually recovered. He received the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism and four Purple Hearts. In 1969, he was assigned to Fort Riley, Kansas. In 1972, he was assigned to Fort Sam Houston, Texas where he remained until retirement.

I'd like to see Gettysburg remade with a big budget and today's...

technology. And with the right director. Nothing has captured the grand scope of the battle. Imagine the kind of effects achieved in Saving Private Ryan, which was years ago, applied to the Gettysburg battle. It would be epic if done right.
Didn't they just come out with a remake of the 10 Commandments?
Bill L : 6/28/2016 8:24 am : link
Seems like the have a new Moses movie every year.

I can't think of too many remakes where I wouldn't spit at the screen. I'm too nostalgic I guess.
they are making I Am Pilgrim
UConn4523 : 6/28/2016 8:26 am : link
so i'm pretty excited for that.

As for Hollywood, there's more variety and quality than ever. Blame the audience who gives all their money to comic book movies and remakes; that's why they keep being made. So many great scripts thrown out because the target audience is smaller, it a shame, but it has nothing to do with poor quality or unoriginal content.
would like to see a movie
Gordo : 6/28/2016 8:49 am : link
made about the WASP (women airforce service pilots) intersting story about how the army recruited women to be pilots in case there was a shortage in men pilots. Think a league of their own but with pilots. Maybe Tom Hanks could play a flight instructor? ;)
I've always thought Red Storm Rising could be a fantastic movie
Greg from LI : 6/28/2016 9:27 am : link
But absurdly expensive to do right, and in any case with the Cold War so long in the past a hypothetical World War III in the '80s is never going to be made into a movie.
THEM?
Klaatu : 6/28/2016 11:33 am : link
Sure. Ruin another sci-fi classic like they did with The Day the Earth Stood Still.
I'd like to see them remake The Godfather...

That would have been my mention, but I wish they'd have made that a series on HBO. The first season could be dedicated to the events in the book. How they're going to truncate that book into a feature-length film is something I currently can't imagine.
There was a remake of

Rosemary's Baby in 2014.
