Eli's Passer Rating: +/-93.6 for 2016?

adamg : 6/29/2016 5:10 am
I'm well on the plus side here.

I was watching that top 3 underrated offenses video and saw Dalton had a passer rating of over 100. Looking it up, six guys broke the hundred mark last year. I think there's good reason to think Eli could set a new career high again this upcoming season (third year under this scheme, Shepard replacing Randle, OL in year two together, etc.). I'm also thinking there's a (not so small) chance he breaks the hundred mark for the first time.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Eli +/- last year's mark of 93.6? +/-95? 100?

Not sure why though.
My thought

Passer ratings are an intersting metric but they don't account for a quarterbacks ability to perform in crunch time. That's where Eli has excelled for the most part in his career. He's had a lot of fourth quarter comebacks and is excellent in the two minute drill. Some guys have great numbers but when it comes down to it they don't perform as well in the crunch and the numbers don't really reflect that.

Eli can go into a funk during a game, and we've seen that often with him, then suddenly rise from the ashes and get hot as a pistol. He's had his share of clunkers too. I wouldn't get too hung up on metrics with him because when the heat gets turned up Eli battles even harder. There is no measurement for that.
Just win, baby.

Passer rating is overly heavily influinced by comp %

And comp % has never been a strength of Eli's. The guy was 2nd in the league in passing TDs and not a lot of INTs. I'll take that over the numbers for some of the QBs who finished with better QBR.
I don't anticipate that big a jump up. I think his numbers could be

identical to 2015, and still have a better result than last year. They can't really throw the ball more than they did last season. 618 attempts was 4th in the NFL.
Eli's Passer Rating: +/-93.6 for 2016?

YEp probably ... to hit exactly 93.6 would be a real coincidence ...
His numbers have been pretty consistent

under McAdoo, not much change when you look at 14' or 15' see link below. However if we have a healthy Cruz and Shepherd delivers along with an improved run game and even a slight improvement in pass protection those could climb a bit. If all those things occur I see no reason why he can't do 5,000 yards passing, 64% completion, 40 TDs, 15 Ints, and crack 100 yards rushing for the first time in his career. You can't teach speed Deon.

I think that's a pretty solid over/under number

and am going over. A lot went wrong last year and he was still awesome. I imagine things will likely go better.

That's where I'm at too.
There is an interesting video or Q&A up on Giants.com
BlueLou : 6/30/2016 6:38 am : link
with Feagles and Schmelk IIRC about whether or not OBJ will post greater or lesser stats in 2016. And one of the responses was "lesser, and that's a good thing" as that means Eli will have more and better options for spreading the ball around in 2016.

IF that will be the case, his QBR will rise.
