NFT: Jurgen Klinsmann: England Manager?

Jon in NYC : 6/29/2016 2:40 pm
Quote:
“Klinsmann has emerged as a strong candidate for England from out of the blue,” Donohue told Covers. “There has been some serious action on him getting the gig, at the expense of some tried-and-tested English managers, so clearly, fans over here would welcome him. He has an excellent tournament pedigree, and many pundits view him as an exciting potential appointment, which speaks volumes about the quality the U.S. men’s national team set up and its ability to develop players.”

Donohue said more than 80 percent of bets are on Klinsmann.

“I believe people are betting here like they know something,” he said. “The big betting was in advance of him saying that he was interested, so perhaps someone knows something.”

Not the best source, but where there's smoke...

Then back up the fucking Brinks trucks and somehow pry Conte from Italy.
Saw this yesterday
Go Terps : 6/29/2016 2:47 pm : link
I felt like Michael Scott when Toby was gonna leave for Costa Rica.

I obviously hope this happens for the sake of USMNT, as at this point I think we'd be better off with an inanimate carbon rod as a manager. But I also want this to happen for the comedy that would ensue, as I can't think of a more destructive combination than JK and the England national team. He may literally be the worst candidate on earth for the job.

Please let this happen.

He's going to Chelsea. I vote Peter Vermes.
There is no chance in hell

that Conte ever becomes the US manager.
And whether or not this happens,
Go Terps : 6/29/2016 2:48 pm : link
it shows us how clueless England is about the game. Utterly clueless.

Don't say that! Galati could make him a very, very, very, very wealthy man. That's all we have to offer at this point other than our fickleness.
Vermes

plays a style with SKC that fits what the US is best at, knows the MLS, is a USMNT vet, has a ton of success despite often playing with less "talent". Great fit.
I'm with it

ABJ.
It is destiny that Jose Mourinho

becomes US manager. Couple that with Ronaldo's inevitable move to the L.A. Galaxy and it will be monumental era in U.S. Soccer!

bahaha my immediate reaction to this post, 'I can't wait for terps' response!'
Actually the Guardian floated Arsene Wenger

out there for the England job, which is something I find fascinating and what I proposed for the U.S. a few years back. He doesn't have to sign players, he just has to fit them into a system. I don't necessarily think it works for the U.S. now, but maybe England...
Mourinho as manager would be hilarious
moespree : 6/29/2016 3:11 pm : link
Park the bus in the 5th minute and then bitch to the media after the game for 20 minutes about how the opponent didn't challenge the U.S. enough.
This seems like a recycled version of the rumor

about JK to Southampton a week or two ago. It was based on betting, too.

I'm not buying it.
Maybe..

How about trying someone with youth, playing experience and experience coaching the USMNT?

but I don't know about that. He'd be better than Klinsmann though.
I'd love for JK..

We need more of this, not less:

Klinsmann
scouser : 6/29/2016 5:54 pm : link
as much as some folks here want him gone, would be a huge improvement over Hodgson.
I don't know,
Go Terps : 6/29/2016 6:13 pm : link
a midfield of Rooney and Wilshere sounds positively Klinsmann.

Star player woefully out of position? Check.
Pet favorite player playing over more deserving candidates? Check.
No discernible strategy or approach to the game? Check.
Playing down to the level of weaker opposition? Check.

God I hope this happens.
Let's be real here though
B in ALB : 6/29/2016 6:57 pm : link
Klinsy is no dummy. He knows how sweet he has it here in the US. Paid well, Gulati is his lapdog, and as long as his teams have a relatively good showing every now and then, he's safe through at least the 2018 WC unless they don't make it. Otherwise, he'll probably name his fuckin successor.

Andy Herzog, damen und herren?

In a heartbeat, I'd take this....most people say they want JK gone but have no real understanding of who else you are going to get including the posts here? Say what you want about his tactics, starting lineups, and inclusions/ exclusions....a World Cup team to the round of 16 and a Wondo six yard miss of going to the round of 8 along w/ a semifinal run in Copa America. Again, the question is if you are going to get rid of JK, who do you get? Unless it is a upgrade, JK at least attracts international talent. How much does Aaron Johannson hate his life right now missing out on Iceland's golden generation?
